Okay so you're going to hear a lot about the train. I personally don't mind it my old house was along the tracks, but if you're not used to train horns this isn't the place from you. Aside from that the RV park is nestled in the woods with old tall pines covered in moss that block out the sun which in my opinion was beautiful! As we were lucky to find an available spot while passing through, we found ourselves at this KoA. Here we met friendly staff and found a clean rv park. Even in the heat of summer this was a cool oasis, and the store has a souvenirs and a stocked store in case you're skipping the locks or the town for the day. The pool wasn't huge was clean, and the late afternoon tree cover kept us from getting sunburned. A few adirondacks and loungers were available, and the shallow depth made it kid-friendly. Laundry facilities were not the most updated, wood paneling and all, but again the facilities were clean and came with laundry vending and a change machine. This KoA could be a journey stop or a mini-vacation, and it was a refreshing stop with everything we needed. We'd come back. read more

For a supposed 'KOA', this place needs A LOT of work. Corporate needs to make a visit out here. When I initially requested an extended (Summer) stay in my brand new 32ft Heartland, I was told that they 'don't get many people who want an extended stay here', however there was an old run-down trailer parked nearby that didn't move ALL SUMMER. This campground is dirty, infested with june bugs, box elders, mosquitos and more that GET INSIDE your RV, because of the trees covering the property there are large tree branches falling on the RVs, huge crows that poop everywhere, there are constant trains running right next to the property AT ALL HOURS 24/7, the laundry/coin machines NEED TO BE REPLACED (you make enough $ with your overpriced rates to make desperately needed repairs), people are letting their dogs off their leashes and allowing them to wander in others' campsites, there are people smoking pot and leaving cigarettes everywhere - there were cigarette butts in our fire pit and WE DON'T SMOKE!, people are partying outside after 10pm, there are ZERO meaningful amenities here (we don't care about dated games or bigfoot. You need a decent laundromat, a food truck, at least one ATM machine, A hot tub that has NOT sat in disrepair for OVER TWO YEARS, a full recycling pick up, internet that ACTUALLY WORKS, and more employees who understand the meaning off excellent customer service and are willing to put it into practice. Also, considering that you are a two mile drive from civilization (stores, restaurants, gas stations, etc.) you need a shuttle service for your customers. You also need to actually ENFORCE the rules on your list., and have some discernment about who you allow into your campground RVs older than 2000 should not be allowed here, nor should there be vans, buses, or people trying to pull multiple OLD vehicles into their sites in order to bring more people into their party. For $1,700+ per month, we shouldn't have old run-down trailers, vans and BUSES full of loud, low-quality partiers parked right next to our brand new RV. Try using a little discernment/gentrification rather than simply accepting anything/everything that hands you money and then than not putting ANY of that money back into the needs of your property. Most of the employees clearly don't like their job. Mary is extremely rude. The employees will not help with anything involving touching your RV, EVEN IF YOU ASK THEM TO. When I complained to the office, nobody tried to help in any way. I was simply told "if you don't like it here, you can leave immediately and we'll return your remaining balance to your card on file". Some customer service, eh? The ONLY employee that is worth mentioning here is Dan.Dan deserves a raise. read more

We spent two days here (came in Friday early afternoon and left Sunday late morning) with our family for a family reunion. We had a blast, and the kids LOVED the swimming pool. The staff were friendly, and they did a great job of keeping the place clean.Our sites were large enough for our group to have some space for running and playing. The train was loud at first, but on day and night two, we were so tired we slept right through it. My chief complaint was that we had one child in our group who was handicapped (has seizures and has difficulty walking), and they would not let her use the handicapped bathrooms. Booked a month in advance for Pull Thru spot with 50 amp. When arriving I was told I have a back in site. I had printed my reservation so I showed the gal " oh she changed that back on the 7th" who's she and why would " she" do this? Well got no answer on that. No Uber, cab, food delivery in town. 2 mile walk from KOA to town each way. Trains run all night every 50-55 minutes blowing their horn ... some suggestions for KOA : don't put a camp ground in the middle of the neighborhood and along tracks, offer a shuttle service even with a cost would be better than nothing ... camp sites needed raked along with kids play area. We had cigarette butts all over. I gave you 2 stars for your front office gal being nice and friendly read more

This is our second stay and I'm leaving a five-star rating regardless of the noise as seen in other reviews. This has been one of our favorite KOA's. It's a few minutes from town and the bridge of the gods. The drive to hood river was roughly 20 minutes where you can enjoy the fruit loop scenic drive with orchards, wineries, and fun little shops. They do have a hot tub that is in need of replacing but if you just need a quick soak it does the job. The service is always exceptional! The little shop is just cute! The train does honk but for safety because you can walk across the tracks and access the river. In the summer you'll find wild blackberries along the river, so delicious! If you're like us, we like to explore so spending all day at camp wasn't for us so the noise didn't bother us. Note that the spots are spacious but the grounds are heavily treed so be prepared for backup/pulling in. They do escort and assist you with getting into your site. Pros: -Allowed us to check in early with no extra charge. -Nice and professional staff. -nice store and gift shop. - beautiful set up and trees. - had dog baggies at park for poop. -cable tv -would be great for kids Cons: -This is not a campground for a quiet getaway. -very noisy park. We were put next to the kids playground, pool and bathrooms. Constant squeaky and slamming of doors. - trains run along the backside. Also some road noise. -site was not level and was narrow. Be sure to bring a carpet or pad to put at the entrance due to the tree droppings we had to put one out. - Dog park is small and quite a walk to get too. Dog baggie trash can stinks badly due to not being emptied out. - Town is too far away to walk to. We found a restaurant called Bridgeside which was very tasty and great views of the river. This is not walkable, at least for us it wasn't. A small grocery store called Columbia Market was perfect for our needs. Even had fresh veggies. This a beautiful place, and we could of asked to be away from the playground and pool, but time we realized how close we were, we were already set up. Live and learn! read more

What a nightmare! At $30/ night, this campground is literally adjacent to railroad tracks. The trains did not run during the day so I wasn't expecting to hear much at night. Boy, was I wrong! There is a freight train at least every 30 mins and they thoroughly enjoy blowing their horns. It is impossible to sleep at this place. No amount of wifi can make up for it. Well, cramped quarters, park for kids is old school, metal and VERY dated. As everyone mentioned train steams by blowing its horn and when I say "steams by" I mean you can hit it with a rock. We stayed in spot 69 *giggity*, back in, with a 24' trailer, trees on either side, narrow roadway, was fun to get in. Staff seem pleasant, but this place looks right out of the 80's, I think they could have filmed Stranger Things here. It's away from home, it's... sort of camping, so it's still fun for me. read more

Park is located right on top of railroad tracks with freight trains going through all night long blowing their horns. The park itself is okay. Hookups were all in the front of the RV which is a hassle. Water pipes are old galvanized steel and need to be replaced. Staff is friendly but nightly rates are a little high in my opinion. read more

Very nice wooded & shady campground! Wonderful service starting at check in- a groundskeeper escorted us to our site & guided us right in. The workers were all friendly & smiling. Bonus was Lily's Kanine Kamp-- the daughter of a groundskeeper offered dog sitter & walking services ($5/walk) and that was extremely helpful in planning one of our days! There is train noise, there's no escaping it, but it's not unbearable. I did wish there was a little more space between sites, but we'd consider staying here again. read more

Campground was fine and the train wasn't terrible, it was the staff. Coming in late we had a very nice reception, though rushed. At no time did anyone ever stress to us the incredible strictness of this campground's check out time, and we were road weary. Got up to make a quick breakfast before a short drive home and at EXACTLY 11:00am there was a loud banging on the door. We opened to a very rude young man named Kevin who told us we had to leave immediately. Mind you we were still in pajamas after oversleeping on our vacation. He told us that he had a lineup of rvs waiting for a spot and the hour it would take us to be out was totally unacceptable to him. He couldn't do it, wouldn't have time to "clean the space" despite the fact that we arrived do late we never even unhitched! We were never outdoors in the space, went straight to bed. As we're pulling up the jacks at noon, having put everything away as quickly and safely as we could, another young woman comes to ask us how much longer we'd be, that check out was at 11:00. I looked at her and said "do you not see I'm pulling up the jacks right now?!". Just astounded at how this KOA treats its customers. We weren't even in the spot we paid for more than 15 hours, not even a full day. And to be so rude about it is not the way to treat customers. A simple "hey, we're really strict about checkout time so if you could pull out ASAP we'd appreciate it" would have fostered less animosity. Better yet, telling us at check in how strict the policy was would have served both them and us much better, since MOST campgrounds do give you some leeway. The site says forested spots.. yes there are a few trees but this is open open. Not like other places where forested means you have some forest around /in your spot. Our neighbors are a few feet away on either side. I've been to like four amazing KOAs and assumed they were all great. This one is fine but meh ‍. I'd stay stop for the night to sleep but the trains prevent that so definitely not the place I'd want to spend multiple nights. Bathrooms are pretty clean. The staff is very friendly. The playground is just like the ones I grew up playing on in the early 90s.. my kids absolutely loved it while I was googling the nearest hospital bc I have boys. Game room has ping pong, pool, giant Jenga, giant connect, & foosball ($0.25 per time you hit it in the goal/ $0.50 for 2 balls). Have to go to the office for horseshoe, bean bags, paddles, pool table supplies etc. Pool is clean, hot tub is small. read more

It had been years since I had stayed at a KOA. Sue's boss was getting married in Hood River and Cascade Locks was the closest place we were able to find a room at. That room turned out to be a KOA Kabin. Both of us were quite pleased with it. The cabin we stayed in was towards the back of the place. There was only one other cabin in this part of the campground and I'm pretty sure it was empty for the night we stayed. Cabin 81 was very clean (save for the spider and web hanging from the ceiling fan) and looked pretty new. You do have to bring your own bed sheets and towels, but aside from that we didn't really need anything else. There is a grill and a porch swing on the front porch. We used the swing, but not the grill. Had we been there another day, we probably would have made use of it. KOA also offers $1.99 all you can eat pancakes Thursday-Sunday. We took advantage of that the one morning we were there. read more

I'm not too sure about the negative reviews of this place. It's all in perspective. Like momma always said, you never know what you're going to get. Yea sure the place was by the train tracks, but scope it out people! You can tell on Google maps what you might be up against. Ie busy roads or train tracks. It was raining and we were by the train, but overall wasn't too bad. We stayed in our Travel trailer. Nice site, just be warned, it's kind of tight weaving in and out if you have a huge rig and while no one was there really when we went, I'm sure summer is very full and makes it even more difficult. Would be cautious on that side. The little cabin things look great, as we spied them from across the way. Would be a good place to go with a group as they have something for everyone RV, Cabins and tent area. The current hosts were quite lovely and very accommodating. Enjoyed the little bit of quiet we got and the fire ring! Firewood is 6 bucks a bundle if you want to buy some here. Also remember if you are planning on going into town, that most everything rolls up early! So make sure to eat dinner or whatever before 8. Lots and lots of pine needles too, if you have a rig that has slideouts make sure to sweep or spray down before you leave. Have fun! read more

Made a HUGE mistake by not looking at the reviews for this place, I'm usually on top of it as trains seem to be the thing along RV parks. If you want good sleep DON'T stay here!!!! It's a nice koa but you would have to be deaf to enjoy staying here. The trains blow their horns coming through about every couple hours. Could have just stayed at a rest stop for free and not slept with the big rig noise instead. read more

I try not to give bad reviews but this KOA campground earned its points. Our stay in this campground reminded me of the times I camped out in Yosemite. Camp sites are packed in tightly. It is close to the road and the train tracks. It is quite a noisy stay. The only way to have a quiet night is to turn on your fan to drown out the noise from your neighbors and from the incoming vehicles/trains. They do offer decent amenities-pet area, kids area and a clean bathrooms. I'm also more disappointed about the patrons of this campground. Mask wearing is non existent- even though it is clearly stated you should wear mask when you're using the bathrooms. I only saw two patrons wearing mask in the bathroom. What more, one of our neighbors let their dog loose and the dog pooped all over the campground and they didn't even pick up after the dog. The other neighbor simply left their trash when they left the campground. Sorry- just can't recommend. read more

I'm a huge fan of this place... not only did we manage to score a free night camping up here, so close to Portland but yet so far away from city life (hands-down one of the very charms of Portland itself.... city mixed seamlessly with green and nature, including boasting the nations' only urban forest), but.... (drumroll) We happened upon a night that they were serving all-u-can-gorge-urself pancakes (very light and fluffy) in the morn, as well as a hot tub for those chilly, hunker-down nights. The campground itself isn't super large, but I do recall the place being pretty clean. No remarkable aesthetic features, no exceptional million $ views of the Columbia R. or its gorge... go to the boat ramp park for that just west (you know, that park with the sloped driveway down), but comfort. Cabins avail. too, with the swing benches (nice) porchside. Convenience store just outside of the park, a few mins. drive down the road. read more

No Sleep! It's a My Cousin Vinny movie. The train is 40 feet away and literally runs every 2 hours (or less). It blasts its horn directly adjacent to the site. While it is along the river it is not close enough to enjoy. The dog "run" is about 15 feet square so it might be good for a mouse but not a dog. The owners are nice enough but that train... I will add that just about everyone around us packed up and left the next day as did we. Basically, you'd be happier in your home driveway. read more

I, like other reviewers, was skeptical about this place after seeing other reviews. However, I was pleasantly surprised at this campground. First, you will hear trains, no matter which site you are assigned. We stayed in our RV, so the noise was probably less for us, but I did notice the store gives out complimentary ear plugs if you ask. As for the rest of the campground: most of the rv sites didn't seem too close together, but some of the smaller sites were kinda close. It probably depends on the size of your vehicle. It is big enough for the kids to ride bikes safely, small pool, but still fun, lots of trees for shade (a plus in the middle of summer), a playground that is old, but there were always kids playing there and the staff was always friendly to us. The restrooms were clean enough (3 showers and 3 toilet stalls) and a sink outside for washing dishes. Laundry room was also super clean. Overall, I would return. The trains didn't bother me after the 1st night. If you're only staying 1 night and need to rest, ask for the ear plugs. read more

So in reading the reviews on our way up, I was thinking, "Omg... why did my hubby get this spot?!?!" But... no where near as bad as some others put... yes, there's a few trains... Was it a big deal?? No it wasn't. Besides, it's next to the river and what is usually next to the river?? TRAINS!! The staff was extremely nice!! When you get out ON TIME, they usually don't get irritable with you. Be ready for the train. We stayed in a cabin, which was better, but I would never tent camp here. Playground is very old and dated, but kids loved it. The vibe is nice and the scenery is beautiful on the drive in. I probably would have given them more stars if they hadn't called themselves a KOA "Holiday". Not even close. It's also interesting that the reviews for this facility aren't available through the KOA app. I expect more from the holiday classification within the KOA system. It's more like a "journey" with tons of noise. Insanely loud freight train horn every few mins until 1 am. We live next to a train at home, but this was in-sane!!! The office actually closes in an hour earlier than listed on the website, which put us in a bind after we emptied our cooler of water and then proceeded to go buy ice. Staff was very friendly and professional. The set up of this rv park is fantastic. All the trees give it a very private and forest look and feel. The RV spaces are roomy so you dont feel crammed in. There are active railroad tracks that run along the back of the property but we only really noticed when the whistles were blown. The restrooms are dated but clean. The WiFi is great, never had an issue with it despite being at the back of the park. There is a small pet area which we did not use, we just walked along the tracks and enjoyed the scenery as the Cascade hills are in both sides of the park. read more

We checked in late and were never told the check out time, no signs in sight saying when it was. Then when we were packing up at a little after 11 someone knocks on the door. Opened it and Kevin (one of the employees) starts yelling at us, telling us he has people lined up to get a spot and we need to leave now. We told him we're packing up now and it would take us at most an hour to leave. He said we didn't have an hour and we needed to leave NOW. We told him we can't change how long it takes us to pack and we'd leave as soon as we could. He stormed off. Then another member of our party went to the front to tell them that we'd leave around 12. The woman at the front gave him a dirty look and when he said when we'd be leaving she said "oh you're sight 101" in a mocking tone. If you want to come here to relax then you're coming place. Look at the other bad reviews and listen. This is the worst KOA you will ever stay at and it might just be the worst campground you'll ever stay at. We spent 4 nights at this campground and were very pleased with the sites, facilities, and staff! The staff was by far the best campground staff I have ever seen. We forgot our cake pan for a birthday cake and Dawn let us borrow hers, she was so awesome! The only reason they are not getting a 5 star review is the trains. Though they were very cool to see and hear during the day, at night and in the early morning it was tough with little kids trying to sleep. There were only one or two trains at night/early morning so it was not too bad! read more

So noisy a freight train comes every half hour and blows the horn, impossible to sleep through that if you are in a tent. Lots of bugs, older property could use remodeling wonderful ladies at the front desk though. No food service they rely on a food truck to provide sporadic hot food service. There is junk in the back corner 1970's era motor home, sea container, other junk and a tarp covering wood sounds great doesn't it. I was lucky enough to have a great view of this crap. Our main complaint was the location right next to a very very busy train track. We were awoken every hour by multiple loud horn blasts - wish we had read the Yelp reviews before booking our tent site. This is definitely a weekend-ruiner - I can only imagine trying to hike or do other activities if we had small children with no sleep. The bathroom is pretty old and gross. There are only 4 women's toilets and 3 showers available, resulting in a long wait at the showers. In addition, the toilets clog extremely easily so 2 were out of commission most of our visit. We didn't bother getting in the pool - the chemicals and pH were obviously out of balance upon seeing the extreme cloudiness of the water. I understand this is a camp ground, but at $30 a night for a piece of dirt upon which to place a tent, we expect a little more. read more
