Mt. Hood

Wish I could give SIX stars! First off, the location is at the base of Mt Hood with beautiful views all around. The lady at the front desk was wonderful! She upgraded our lodging to a condo and it was large and cozy with a fireplace and slept 8 people. We will be checking out shortly and wanted to make sure I didn't forget to leave a review.

We really enjoyed our time at Cooper Spur! While we had originally booked a 2 bed room, the staff upgraded us to the log cabin, presumably because the resort wasn't particularly busy during the heat wave. Even without the upgrade though, the resort is nice and we would have been very happy with the 2 bed. The staff are very nice and we're more than willing to discuss things to do nearby, where to shop, etc. The breakfast baskets were nice and appreciated! We don't ski, we were just touring Oregon, but the location is very good for most travelers. Not far from Mt. Hood/Government camp and all the lakes. There's even some trails that start basically at the resort! We saw wildlife like deer from our back window. The lodging was nice, things were clean and appliances modern. They even had a little travel vending machine in case you forgot to pack something, though we didn't need to use it. Parking was easy enough. While it's an exclusive perk of the log cabin upgrade, the Jacuzzi was amazing! I hope to return someday, hopefully during fall when it's not so hot!

There are not enough superlatives to describe this wonderful oasis in the forest. If you have an opportunity to stay just take it. Friendly staff, beautiful location, luxury cabins

Didn't know what to expect since there are so few pictures on the website, but it was great! Our cabin was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Loved the fireplace, the surrounding woods, the location near Mt Hood and many hiking trails. Also near the "Fruit Loop" of Hood River Valley. The clean hot tubs were perfect after a day of hiking!

Happy hour Bourbon Bombs ...... We love Happy hour here... Be the fire. Cozy mountain vibe

We come to the restaurant: bar for the ambiance, happy hour & fire. Cozy, warm.... Layer back vibe.

I filled up the bathtub to give my daughter a bath and there were various lengths of hairs everywhere in the shower surround.

Wouldn't stay here again. Everything was complicated and a headache. And for the price, it just wasn't worth it. We had been meaning to stay here and check out this venue for the past few years, being locals from Hood River. We always perfer the off-season to avoid the throngs of tourists and overpriced room charges. Today was my wife and I's 3rd wedding anniversary and with a 2 1/2 month old baby girl in tow, we decided to finally make it happen and venture out of the house for the first real time since the birth of our daughter. When we arrived we observed a very large group of people sitting in the grass at the front of the grounds. We quickly learned with great joy that we we would be lodging with a huge group of hippies who were staying at the "resort" for a wellness seminar thing. Basically it was a group of Californians with too much time and money on the hands sitting around talking about breathing, blood flow, and yoga poses. My kinda people! With all the excitement surrounding us, we didn't SEE much of these outdoor elitists at the restaurant where we had dinner or in the morning when we tried to have a leisurely wake-up. We mostly just HEARD them...at 10:00pm, 1:30am, and 4:30am, through the ceiling and walls. As for the 4:30am wake up, they of course had to awake and make it up to Cloud Cap for their sunrise meditation session or whatever. With the all-night commotion, on what we had hoped would be a mid-week, off season, quiet reprieve, we were desperate to sleep in! And we did! After the yogis left at 5:00am and since our room was basically a wooden cave, we slept until 9:00. But with a baby we have to do everything in shifts - eat, drink coffee, shower, get dressed, and pack one at a time. With 2 hours to go, we thought we would call the front desk and ask to check out at noon. Susan at the front desk basically gave us a "Hell No!". Despite the place being devoid of anyone around and a near empty parking lot we were told an emphatic no! They didn't have time for that. So, we hurried, rushed, scarfed our food, and slurpped our coffee, returned the keys, and got out of this hell hole right at 11:00. As we were leaving, the one and only house keeper, looking warn out and sluggish, was slowy cleaning a cabin two buildings away. There was no one tending to any room on our hallway or even in our main building. Whoo! Good thing we got out of there when we did! On the plus side, the food we had at dinner wasn't bad. The buns were a little over cooked and dry, however, and the "Happy Hour" was very limited and the cocktails I ordered were not happy hour priced and were the size of shooters. At $197 for one mid-week night, I felt like the value was more like $90-110. Cooper Spur, again, I won't be back.

Very loud fly hitting and bumping the lamp whole trying to sleep.. there's more than 2 flies inside the cabin when we got here..

The mountain is perfectly framed through masterfully trimmed old growth spruce and fir trees. Besides the framing, this creates gorgeous and functional dappled shade on a hot day. The unique cabins--as well as a genuine tree house--sprinkled in private settings throughout the property mean that many of your closest guests can stay on the property. My favorite part, however, was the rustic open air bar situated centrally. Flanked, of course, by a stone paver dance floor, this is where the heart of the party took place. The lighting was perfect, too. I could talk all day about the perfect cocktail and dinner settings the bride created, but that was her unique creation. I mention it because, now that it's been done so beautifully, the owners of Miller Farms can surely offer the next bride or event organizer suggestions of what definitely works. Enjoy this place. It's impossible not to be swept up by its beauty and functionality.

Look around and see the different architectural styles because they're all whimsical. There's a tree house whose picture window frames the north side of Mt. Hood. This place is a resort that we have thoroughly enjoyed. This piece of paradise is the result of the vision, love and hard work of Steve and Bobbi. They generously labor to make your event, no matter what it is, be the best it could ever be. I've found this couple to be very giving, accomodating and often goes beyond their duties to help make your event a memorable one. They love this place, they love what they do and it shows. I recommend to everyone to check out this place because you won't find any place as beautiful and as special as this. Guaranteed.

They went above and beyond on the wedding day--Adelle even helped turn simple cheesecloth into gorgeous curtains, creating a warm and romantic entryway for the bride and groom. The venue itself is stunning, with two separate suites for the bride and groom to get ready, a large parking lot for guests, onsite staff to assist throughout the day, and the most breathtaking oak tree and sunset views you could imagine. You can't just yell at a kid this age and expect them to make a pizza. You have to get on their wavelength and connect dude. $89 wasted. 2)we were all beginners. The one and only green trail was wayyyy to intense at the top for us newbies. The bunny slope was wayyyyyy to short to get anything going. It was nearly impossible to practice in under 50 feet of slope. You just can't get anything going enough to practice. The only other option is to take the chair lift up and hope you don't need to test your health insurance out 3) after prepaying for a few days of skiing and realizing day one this wasn't the place for us they refused refunds for the following days we weren't going to use. I wouldn't recommend this place. Oh and NO BATHROOMS. Just gross portapotties. it would be nice to have a place to wash your hands wouldn't it?

Cooper Spur is a great place for families to learn to ski…read more First, lets start with the price. For $400, you can get your *entire family* a season pass that is good for lift tickets *and* rentals. If you can commit to going 4, 5, or 6 times, that is a killer deal. Pencil out your alternatives, and you will definitely not find any less expensive options. You can use some of the money you save to get some ski school or individual instruction, which is well worth it. Consider it an investment in your families' future entertainment for years to come. The lodge is cozy but unpretentious and comfortable enough. Free wifi is handy, so you can send messages to family members (even if you don't get cell service on the mountain, at least they'll get the message when they get back into wifi). Food is just fine for what it is. The ski lift and runs are nice for beginners. They have a good rope tow to get started with, and then the ski lift isn't too difficult. They have a handful of runs ranging from beginner to intermediate. Even though the runs aren't long, the ski lift doesn't get too busy. Parking can be a problem, and sometimes you need to ride a shuttle up from the lot down by the resort (about 1 mile away). Also the rental center can be very busy, and a line can form that can take 30-45+ minutes to get through. Neither are a huge deal, but all things considered it is a good idea to arrive as early as possible to get good parking and avoid the rush. If you do have to wait, just practice some patience -- you'll get on the mountain eventually. They also have a very small tube hill (I haven't done this, but it looks pretty measly, so I wouldn't make a special trip up just for this) and options for nordic (cross-country skiing / snow-shoeing). If you get the family season pass deal, for another $40 you can add-on nordic rentals and access, which seems like a good deal if you'd like to have some variety. One other nice option is that, coming from Portland, you can take HW 26 (through Government Camp) or US 35 (though Hood River). It is good to have options, as traffic on 26 can back up on popular ski days. Also, there are lots of great restaurants in Hood River that can be enjoyed after a full day of skiing.
