The north part of this natural area isn't very easy to navigate. Enters between two homes and comes out at a dead end street between two other houses. There was a loop off to the right, but I went left. Felt a little secluded, and there were signs of a camper, so I won't be going back. The south part of this park is more lush. I was looking for a cooker way to the Mac station and found a secret bridge. Great lighting and thick beams over a creek. It's my new favorite spot at sunset. read more

This resort sits in a quiet town near a golf course (this made my husband very happy) and the staff is wonderful, so check-in was a breeze. The condo we were in appears to have been renovated and the furnishings were nice, comfortable and functional. It was actually pretty warm during our stay and the forced-air cooling unit worked fairly well to keep the condo cool. There were no wine glasses, which I found a little strange, but only a minor complaint. There is a fairly large heated pool and a very nice hot tub and sauna near the office and the gift shop, which had some very nice stuff in it. The bed was comfortable and when we had an issue, the maintenance guy came out fairly quickly to fix it. We had a very enjoyable stay and would definitely recommend this place to anyone. read more

Nice quiet location! Enjoyed the birds each morning along with coffee. It rained all week but it was nice to have a fire. Decor is somewhat dated but vet cabin like. The 3 bedroom had more then enough room, can sleep 8! Just rush it wax easier to get to the pool, had to drive to get to the clubhouse! All in all enjoyed our time here. read more

Wrapping up a week here in Welches, OR. Came using our GDV vacation club points to stay here and get some skiing in at Mt Hood (skied at Mt Hood Timberline and SnowBowl). Check in was smooth, friendly staff. The office has a gift shop as part of it so you can pickup some mementos or small gifts as soon as you arrive. The units are nice, clean typical condos, well appointed with fresh/clean linens and towels. Bedrooms: they have queen size memory foam beds (sadly not Tempurpedic, so they are more foam then memory, but comfortable...better than many other vacation rentals we've stayed at). The pillows were comfortable, big/fluffy and plentiful, you get four! per bed (though the two they have in the closet as spared are flat and lackluster). The bed clothes are crisp and clean, but the bedding on top is minimal (which unfortunately is typical in all the vacations rentals we use...NO one has decent warm blanks/comforters, just nice looking thin covers). The unit is very large, with a open loft above with a seating area and TV where there the 2nd bedroom & bathroom is. You can easily have 2-couples/4ppl here. There's a nice warming gas 'wood stove' fireplace in the living room, comfortable couch & chairs + footstools. There's a dining table/6-chairs and 3-bar stools for the breakfast counter. Kitchen is large, well appointed with dishes, utensils, cooking stuff, range, microwave, drip coffee maker, refrigerator + ice maker, dishwasher and garbage disposal. We typically purchase breakfast foods and eat in during our stays and it it was easy and comfortable to do here. There is forced air heat for the unit in the cooler months (as it was when we were here), the downstairs bedroom has electric baseboard heat b/c the force air doesn't serve that room. The is a portable air conditioner for the warmer months for the bedroom b/c they do not have central A/C. They have satellite TV and there are displays in the living room, upstairs sitting area and both bedrooms with good service and plenty to watch if you need to keep the kids busy or you are stuck inside. There is a small single car garage (manual open, no garage door opener, but locks for security) for your car to use while you are here. We didn't use it at first, but after the first day of scrapping snow of the car we decided to avail ourselves of it, and it was welcome. It's small, we were able to get a Honda HR-V in OK, so a small passenger car or small SUV but it'll be tight for anything bigger...it's plenty long though. I guess the snow we got when we were here (last week in FEB 2023) was unusual and being from MN we expected better, more prompt snow clearing. They did clear the driving areas fairly early, but it wasn't until the next day before they shoveled the walks. Overall though they did a splendid job with the upkeep. The lodge has a heated pool, hot tub, sauna and small gym/exercise room with bathrooms including showers to rinse off before/after...very welcoming after skiing all day to loosen up. I'd like to come back in the warmer months and would recommend staying here again. read more

This place was a real treat for the family. We went here mid June and it was around 65 to 72 degrees. Ao it was slightly chilly but comfortable. There is a golf course in the back of the resort and it has a nice sidewalk that you're supposed to stay off of unless you paid to golf there, but people are really nice and let you use it as long as you stay out of the golfer's way. The resort housing was really nice. Well stocked and clean. However; there was no sponge in the kitchen and the Palmolive soap wasn't very good at getting things clean. There were washer and dryers in the unit we stayed in which was convenient too. The front office always had a fresh pot of coffee so I'd visit there several times a day. There is a swimming pool near the front office that is about 4 feet deep all the way across, so I could walk the entire pool without having to tread water. The spa was nice, hot and large. The kids loved the spa. The golf course was walking distance from the units and the staff there was really nice. They let us play on their field with soccer balls they had free of charge. We got to play bocce ball, soccer and croquet. There was a national forest park just a few miles away where you can go hiking and also see the salmon spawning areas. It must be epic during spawning time. Highly recommend this place for a nice getaway. read more

Dated decor...shredding edges in carpet, crusty, immobile showerhead at five foot height, rockhard bed and chunks taken out of bathroom door, doorframe and tub floor. There were no extra blankets, which we had hoped to use to try to pad the bed somewhat. There was a scratchy, hair covered, brown, threadbare thing which we think was supposed to help add heat to the bed. Thankfully the wall unit in the bedroom was plenty functional and we ended up having to turn it down the first night. We had spider detail in the bathroom, gaurding us from roaving, crawling and winged creepers jn the night, as well as carpet beetles hanging out by the lamp in the bedroom for warmth. Everything appeared clean (not counting crawlies) and quiet though. The place stays warm once the heat is on...which was off when we walked in after a 32 degree morning. The fridge is also turned off when you arrive. Beautiful views (which bumps them a full star from where I would place them otherwise), a full kitchen and an apartment sized dishwasher, as well as all the cooking and eating accoutrements and a propane full grill on a nice sized outdoor patio. There is also the obligatory gas fireplace and coffee pot with the worst ground coffee you will ever have the privilage of making and one bag of Kirkland popcorn (we did appreciate that). They do have a heated pool and spa but both are outside, with no heat on the patio, so you freeze to walk from your place to take advantage of it. We said no thanks. On our last morning there we witnessed a very relaxed and clearly well fed deer hopping through the courtyard all the patios face out to. That was memorable. I just wish I'd been quicker with my cell to snap a video. This place clearly makes bank on the location, not the quality. One other thing to take note of, most of the paved walking paths you will see when walking around the different grounds are for golfers only and are all chained off and patrolled by a man with a mean streak. read more

Our last spot on our Oregon vacation was The Welches. My family and I aren't really into the mountains, but we decided to stay at the Whispering Woods for some relaxation before our drive back to Portland and our return to the East Coast. Whispering Woods has a good location; about an hour or so to/from Portland; another hour to Hood River, and under an hour to Mount Hood. Whispering Woods is a large resort area. There is a swimming pool and jacuzzi by the office, as well as a fitness center. You can rent dvds in the office to bring back to your room to watch. There are several car ports to park under to avoid snow/rain. Our condo was in the C building, one level up. If you have tons of luggage; it might be tricky since there aren't any elevators. But we managed just fine. The two-bedroom condo is large! There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a full sized kitchen, living room with fireplace, dining room, and laundry room. There's also a small patio area with a grill and some seating. This place easily accomodates 6 people comfortably. There's lots of seating and sleeping areas. The decor is a little dated, but clean, and functional. There isn't any air conditioning, so if you get hot easily, I'd try not to stay here during the late summer. We were here in mid July and one night, it was hot in the room, the next night, cool and comfortable. The beds were comfortable and we had good sleep. We watched a lot of movies and ate dinner in the kitchen. There's a grocery store and some restaurants down the road in case you forgot to pack something or you're hungry, which is convenient. And of course, free wifi, which is always a plus. I wish I brought my snowboarding gear. I didn't realize how close Timberline Lodge/Ski resort was to Whispering Woods! I'm sure it's difficult to get a room during the winter months, but in the future, I'd totally stay here for some summer snowboarding! read more

I can't really complain too much in my situation as I didn't pay for my stay here, nonetheless I do feel obligated to give my honest opinion... The scenery at the resort is beautiful! There's a golf course nearby for the golfing fans (it also makes a great running trail on the cart path). The drive in to Portland takes about an hour-which isn't too bad. The room was nice, it's about what I would expect from a 3 star hotel (per Google Places). The downsides we experienced that made my review less than perfect were: ants in the kitchen that appeared after the second day and the tub in the guest bathroom didn't drain fully while showering. I really could have overlooked the first two and just notified the staff on the way out, but lastly the biggest pitfall was the gym, hot tub, pool, and sauna's hours were 8am to 8pm which doesn't allot for a lot while on vacation! I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the staff. They were always helpful and very friendly. In short, if you don't like to use the gym, sauna, pool or hot tub then I'm sure your stay at Whispering Woods Resort will be nothing less than pleasant. read more

We had a delightful stay over the last week in March. The lodging was spacious with a great floor plan. Clean and comfortable but nothing extravagant. Nice view of the mountains. Great dining options. Recommend Dragonfly for breakfast. Rendezvous Grill And Tap Room never got old and the food was great and priced reasonably. Mt. Hood Brewery is a close stop with excellent beer, food and staff. Coffeehouse 26 made a great latte and it is veteran owned and operated. Altitude Restaurant is a walk away with great appetizers and bartenders. Hikes all around with Old Salmon River trail as pretty and fairly easy hike. Definitely a great location to get up to Timberline Lodge and Mt Hood Meadows. Great time of year for snowshoeing and cross country skiing. I definitely would stay here again! read more

Wonderful weekend stay. We are Shell Elite members and are used to nice places and this is one of the best. We stayed in one of the older units but it had everything we could want and everything was clean and welcoming. The fireplace provided cheery coziness on the cold rainy day. Great views and privacy with the trees all around. We really enjoyed the deer that wandered close to our unit. Nice restaurants in the area as well and we received some wonderful recommendations from the staff for dining and sightseeing. The attentiveness of the staff made us feel really welcome and we will be back soon. read more

This place was ok. I have stayed at many Shell Vacation spots and this is probably at the bottom of my list. The units are older with some tacky decor that really hasn't been dusted in quite some time. To me it has an overall dirty factor. The views of the mountains are amazing. So that lends a hand to the one star rating that and the fact that you cannot rate no stars. Anyway on our last day here we called the lady at the front desk hoping for an extra hour to gather our stuff and slowly vacate the room. The lady Stephanie was extremely rude and unsympathetic. When my friend called she stated we were told in our last day we could call and request a late check out at which point Stephanie responded "What?!" Like it was a ridiculous request! My friend then repeated herself and Stephanie responded "Hold on!" She then gets back on the line and says "We are busy there will be NO late checkouts" And hung up without a chance to respond. I then called back myself and was greeted in just the same rude manner that my friend was. I explained to her that we were here for my birthday weekend and that she was completely out of line with her lack of customer service skills. I told her that I didn't appreciate her being rude to my friend and she responded "I was NOT rude to her". Now having to deal with the public in my career I know I would NEVER deny it if someone told me I was being rude or was. I would apologize and try my best to resolve the issue. She had no intentions of doing either of those things. I am sorry to say but departing on such a note REALLY left a bad taste in our mouths! I would also like to make mention of the fact that there were virtually no cars on the premises. So for being "so busy" I couldn't see why. My advise to Stephanie is.... Be a little nicer to people. You never know what their story is or where they are coming from. An extra hour or two OR even some sympathy could go a long way with someone. Very disappointing. read more

Nice resort. If the weather is cool, it might be a good choice. I am from the South and am use to AC. On a day that saw temps in the 80s, I had booked a room. Surprise surprise. None of the rooms have AC. Instructions are to open your door. And oh... No ceiling fans either. Internet was spotty... If I had known up front that none of the rooms had AC, I would never have booked the room. I immediately refused my room and was still charged. I was told it was non refundable. read more

This is a marvelous place. The surroundings offer forest and mountain and a golf course right off the deck. There is no air conditioning, so, if you melt easily or like to complain about no air conditioning, this is not for you. This is up in the mountains so it is cool or cold most of the time. Staff is extremely helpful. Pool, hot top and units are very clean and well-stocked. This is NOT A NEW RESORT but it has been carefully maintained. Good spa in area. Great restaurants like Rendezvous, Le Burro Loco and Barlow Trail Roadhouse are nearby. The grocery store in Welches doesn't have much choice and tends to be expensive. Do your shopping for the week in Sandy, Oregon. Winter sports abound. Don't miss a trip to Timberline Lodge. read more

We've stayed in many timeshares and have stayed here a few times now as basecamp for our Mt hood adventures. This is one of the simpler timeshares we've been in -- feels like visiting a friend's apartment -- but it's nice enough. Our last stay was in the summer, which was surprisingly hot! All they had was a box fan. Maybe upgrade to a few tower fans, if not air conditioning, yah? read more

Beautiful view of the golf course from just about anywhere. Whispering Woods is a excellent bascamp for exploring Mt. Hood. Hidden behind the larger and obviously more commercial "Resort at the Mountain, Whispering Woods is an oasis for the traveling family. With a Wonderful outdoor swimming pool and hot tub kept at a toasty 84* and 104* year round there is fun for everyone. Our room had been recently remodel and the new beds were amazing! The DVD selection in the clubhouse was a bit limited and they should think about having a selection of Blu-Rays available to compliment the flat screen and Blu-Ray player in the room. The staff was incredibly friendly and quick to help you with whatever you need. A handsome young man from the maintenance department offered to help us with our luggage when we arrived! I do wish they would bring back the doughnuts on Sunday mornings! Or maybe just put some different juices out with the coffee, for the kids to enjoy. Whispering Woods is a quiet place to relax and enjoy the Mountain air. You might even see a Family of dear walking through the parking lot as if they were just headed back to there room after a swim. The grounds of the property are beautifully kept and parking was convenient. We will definitely be coming back! read more

Parentals had the time share so we finally used it and went up north to Redding, CA to Salem,OR and Portland,OR. This was our home sweet home for a week, I admit..the background of the resort was remarkably incredible !! We even saw deers crossing the street on the way to our cabin ! "BAMBI !!!!!!!!!!-Me !" haha. The cabin comes with a one-car garage spot ( it is for small cars and suv(s) ..no trucks..if you can fit it in..then good for you !) and some parking spots available if you bought two cars or more. First come first serve. The cabin itself was really nice and you have the kitchen utensils all set and a nice home vibe. The backyard of the cabin is just plain ol' forest :) I missed it here already. friendly staff and neighbors. No complaints here..except one...the shampoo smells good but it somehow messed up my hair looking all frizzy (it is normally fine hair) But anyways..I miss it here..let's go back mom and dad ! I read some of these reviews. The whole ANTS thing... well, in the summer time you sometimes cannot avoid them, and the staff onsite hits up those maintenance requests IMMEDIATELY. If you say ant, the staff goes running. They nip anything and everything right in the bud. The Pool is an average size. Worst night of our lives.. Came here for a nice getaway weekend, leaving early because of the awful experience.. Beds are uncomfortable, fireplace was non functional, heat was not controlled, no a/c in unit, and a note saying to open the windows if we got too hot. As a disabled person, in an ADA room, was not expecting to have the units around us full of children who screamed and yelled at all hours and slammed doors that were so loud no person could sleep or relax... Will never return, and we were excited to come here for the weekend, which happened to be my birthday weekend with my wife.... read more

Like some have said this place is need of an update. We are elite Shell vacation owners and stay in many locations. Unfortunately, I am an amputee and need to stay on the bottom floor for the past few years. I am currently staying here, and I can hear everything upstairs. They have a child that jumps and runs up and down the unit. He does this all day and night until about 11 pm. You can hear footsteps, chairs being moved and objects being dropped. I have been kept up all night and then in the morning around 10 am the cleaning crew comes and makes even more noise. So for the past week I have not been able to sleep to well. Now let's talk about the beds. These beds are the most uncomfortable beds. So I tried sleeping on the sofa. The sofa needs updating. As well. The cushions are so worn out, you feel the metal bars that support the sofa. We tried opening up the sofa for the bed, but it's even worse. So bring a tempurpedic topper so you can sleep better during your stay. In regards to the mountain, if you are going to snowboard or ski expect time delays to the mountain. We of course are going during the holidays, but the mountains are not as close as you might think. The only thing that has been good about this vacation is spending time with my family. I would recommend a place in government camp or at timberline. read more
