Comfortable cabin on the pristine Metolius River…read more The Metolius River is a pristine and gorgeous river, and these cabins are located only yards from the river. The cabins are comfortable and lovely with high quality furnishings and well-equipped kitchens, as well as small decks looking out toward the river. The cabins are quite close to each other, so one hears one's neighbors conversations and activities. Although the resort is advertised as having a no pets policy, and there are many signs on site regarding this, the policy is not being enforced. There were at least 2 dogs staying on the property, and several others passing through or visiting guests. Some of the dogs were permitted to roam the property freely and the owners were not consistent about cleaning up after them, so you had to watch where you stepped in the yard, to have an occasional visit (whether welcome or unwelcome) and to listen to barking. We found this to be unfortunate, and to detract from our enjoyment of the site. The location is great, close to some nice hikes and not too far from Sisters and Bend.

After having visited the lodge and loving the views of the lake, we tried to book an event there for a family gathering in the fall. Not anything big. 15-ish people for 4 hours. No other needs from them beyond the location. Two major issues came up: 1) It took 3 MONTHS of back and forth with their event coordinator, Anne, to try to lock it in. It felt like she actively didn't want our business. Finally got a date and quote of $600 for 4 hours. After another couple of weeks of prodding her, was finally on the verge of getting the contract. I think. Except... 2) In that time, my fiancé and I thought it'd be good to just say our vows during the family gathering since we'd have folks out here anyway. Save everyone a second trip. I mentioned this to Anne and she raised the quoted price from $600 to $2500 site fee, a mandatory $1500 minimum catering charge, and requirements to work with one of their dedicated coordinators which was even more $$$ on top of that. To reiterate, absolutely nothing had changed on our needs from the original quote except now they considered it a "wedding" which they apparently price gouge on. Good thing there's no end of beautiful locations in the area for a family gathering. Note: Yelp removed this review saying it wasn't for this location. I'm guess Suttle Lake tried to lie to Yelp to take it down. It was this location (Sisters, OR). Maybe treat potential customers better in the future and you won't get poor reviews. And since this occurrence, my fiancé and I were happily married elsewhere.

Had heard good things about their food and wanted to treat myself while on a little Central Oregon vacation, and boy am I glad I did. The main lodge area is simultaneously cozy and trendy, complete with a fireplace amongst lots of wood architecture and modern furniture. It gave me Society Hotel vibes, for those familiar. I went for the "famous" (it was featured in the Eater's Guide to the World Hulu series hosted by Maya Rudolph) fish sandwich. It was quite spendy but worth it for a splurge. It was quite a bit of food and delicious, and that's coming from someone who is not the biggest fan of seafood. Kind of wish it came with some of fries or another side for the price but what can ya do. I didn't get a drink but the cocktails looked great. Recommend putting your phone away, grabbing one of the many coffee table books they have stacked up, and enjoying the fire and the peace. I went for a hike around Suttle Lake afterwards which was also great. Lots of birds on the water and saw a Bald Eagle swooping. I noticed lots of cabins, campsites, picnic areas, swimming holes, canoes/kayaks, etc. Overall looks like an awesome place to actually spend time. I'd happily come back in the warmer months to spend a weekend here.

The property is beautiful, peaceful and the groundskeepers are SO nice. We've been twice, both for week long stays. We go to the Metolious once a year for a family reunion. Last year we stayed in Midge. Midge is a one room cabin with a queen sized bed and a pull out couch. We had a full kitchen as well which was handy since we have babies. We bbq'd on our back porch every night and soaked in the peacefulness. We did learn that traveling with children means needing an extra room. This year we stayed in cranefly. We had two rooms and a pull out couch. Again having a full kitchen came in handy. We bring our food in with us. It's a lot easier for us to plan out our meals and know what we'll be cooking. If that's your style as well, all you need to bring is food! All utensils and cookware are in the cabin for you to use. The camp sherman store is a quick walk if you forget anything. We've LOVED staying here! I think my only gripe would be the not so comfortable couch bed. ( i think I'm getting old) We ended up throwing the mattress on the floor and sleeping that way. We will have to find a different place to stay with kid stuff in the next few years. Our babies are still young enough that it won't matter for a few years. There definitely isn't anything for kids to do.

Our king room (dog friendly) came with a great big sliding glass door so our dogs could maintain a perimeter check for alpacas, chip monks and the parade of dogs walking by OUR window. How dare they! The bed was comfortable. The room was clean. Although it was a bit rustic/western, it didn't feel old or shabby. The shower had a nozzle mounted along the ceiling. It was an amazing shower with very hot water available. Everyone here (from staff to guests) was super friendly. The hot breakfast was impressive: waffle station, eggs, potatoes bacon and lots of muffin/breads. The breakfast person was super nice too. We'll definitely be back to this property when we visit Sisters again. Thank you for 2 restful nights at your Ponderosa!

After giving my credit card info to reserve a 2 night stay, I asked the woman taking the reservation to remind me of cancellation policy. She quoted me one policy, then started changing that, then seemed very confused and was so all over the map that I decided I couldn't trust what she was telling me so I told her I was going to cancel. She kept trying to negotiate but finally seemed to accept that she'd lost my business. A few minutes later, she phoned to tell me I would be charged for cancelling, even though it was over before the 30 day policy but would only charge me half the fee. I told her that I refused to pay anything, as the credit card processing fee was the cost of doing business & it showed terrible customer service that she didn't waive any charge.

Would have given 5 stars, but there is no gym and our room was next to a "staff only" area and the night staff was pretty noisy during our first night. Definitely recommend this place and would stay again.

And you're really close to an amazing view of the Three Sisters Mountains. The rooms are comfy, open, and spacious. I opted for the Deluxe King Suite with Kitchenette and loved it. The bed was very comfortable, and I felt right at home here. I even saw some deer hanging out next to the property, which I see often at home. This property also has a courtyard area with a fire pit, hot tub, and cold tub. My air-conditioned room had 2 TVs, one for each room, which was nice. The free, Wi-Fi was also nice, but the extra touch was the various cables they had in the room--great for people who forget to bring that one thing they really needed. I would definitely stay in this establishment again.
