The jam for the toast was really good too. I also got OJ which was good. The potatoes were ok didn't finish those. I didn't get the salad not a breakfast item for me, but looked like romaine on someone else's plate or something like that. I got the coffee yesterday. It was good but not quite my taste. Breakfast with OJ was $19, not bad for the location, no meat. Nice gathering room, most were playing BORED games the first morning, not sure if I inspired folks to eat something.

There's a fancy (expensive) restaurant on the inside. We then proceeded down to the boathouse for the casual restaurant, hitting it mid-afternoon so it wasn't too busy. It's fun inside and has a good sized menu. We got fish sandwiches plus fries (expensive - I think it was $22 for the sandwich and $7 for fries), and our little one got a grilled cheese and a freshly squeezed lemonade. We sat out at a table on the dock. The fish sandwiches, apart from being really big, weren't that good. They fry them with the skins on - why? And they really didn't have much flavor. Fries were...fries. Grilled cheese also wasn't anything to write home about. Lemonade was really good. So all in all, I enjoyed the experience but I don't think I'll ever feel the need to return.

The property is beautiful, peaceful and the groundskeepers are SO nice. We've been twice, both for week long stays. We go to the Metolious once a year for a family reunion. Last year we stayed in Midge. Midge is a one room cabin with a queen sized bed and a pull out couch. We had a full kitchen as well which was handy since we have babies. We bbq'd on our back porch every night and soaked in the peacefulness. We did learn that traveling with children means needing an extra room. This year we stayed in cranefly. We had two rooms and a pull out couch. Again having a full kitchen came in handy. We bring our food in with us. It's a lot easier for us to plan out our meals and know what we'll be cooking. If that's your style as well, all you need to bring is food! All utensils and cookware are in the cabin for you to use. The camp sherman store is a quick walk if you forget anything. We've LOVED staying here! I think my only gripe would be the not so comfortable couch bed. ( i think I'm getting old) We ended up throwing the mattress on the floor and sleeping that way. We will have to find a different place to stay with kid stuff in the next few years. Our babies are still young enough that it won't matter for a few years. There definitely isn't anything for kids to do.

There is a great room for people to share however I never saw anyone else there. I made use of the big room and wrapped gifts to take to our grandsons birthday the next day on the giant table and made ice in the mini ice machine for cocktails. Later I made fresh coffee. Great and easy walk down the main street and easy to take the doggies to go out. In the Am we visited not one but 2 amazing bakeries! #1 Sisters Bakery and #2 Angeline's Bakery on our way to Portland. (listed in no specific order) People had requested specific things from each bakery so we got to taste lots of delicious things; #1 apple fritters, doughnuts and sourdough bread and #2 bagels, quiche and a berry strudel or something that was to drool for! Enjoy Sisters! It is a great place to stay!

Even though it was only 51 to 57 degrees outside this weekend, it was 73 degrees in the room the entire trip (unless I opened the windows) and then had to deal with cars, trucks, and motorcycles. Got two rough nights of sleep. No chair in the room to sit on, so your only seating is the bed. Shower is extremely tiny and the head sprays straight down. Can't really angle it toward your body so I couldn't get clean in all the private places. Nice people running the property and it is easy to park. If you sleep warm and/or are specific with your climate needs I would not recommend it. I can't even imagine how warm the room is when it's 80+ degrees outside in the heart of summer. My room was the upstairs unit. Maybe the first floor is cooler, not sure. But mine was miserable and I couldn't get comfortable to sleep. I felt no air coming out of the vent. The fans didn't help. It was either cool with loud sounds all night, or super hot and quiet. Too much street noise all day except from around 11pm-7am daily. Next time I'll stay at an actual hotel with independent thermostats.

Speaking of meals, this place has amazing food! Catered to the brides's liking, the appetizers, lunch and dinner was an assortment of fresh green salads, roasted seasonal veggies, crab cakes, wild rice, roasted lamb and chicken skewers, roasted duck, grilled trout, pickled cucumbers and to top if off, continental breakfast was served every morning. This place is a foodie's heaven. If I lived near by, I would eat here once a week just for the homestyle cooked food! Just when we thought the afternoon reception was over, just after 6 PM, they served us the leftovers! I NEVER had this type of experience before! They also cater to special diets, for people like me with sensitive tummies. I felt spoiled and blessed to have had such unbelievable meals catered just for us! I feel so grateful to have this once in a lifetime experience and recommend House on Metolius to all those lovers of the great outdoors. Her husband scavenged the property for 30 minutes to find the safety pins and rig me back together! Our friends never stop talking about this adult camp. It was such a fun way to spend time together. The property is stunning and our pictures look like they're from a magazine. They have great relationships with all the vendors which really helped smooth out the planning. Staff was absolutely fabulous; helpful, kind and friendly. While we did not utilize the pool, it looked to be very clean and convenient.
