Great lower key ski resort. A couple black diamond runs, a couple blue squares, and couple green circles. Very few lines/waits to board ski lifts on my Sunday day ticket. I loved the back side Over Easy run. Felt like casual down hill cross country skiing that gradually decedents from the highest slope all the way along the back side of all the other runs and eventually ending at the bunny hill. Great for moderate beginners. Overall great vibes. Lots of families. Nothing ghetto going on, nobody smelled like weed. Sunday adult day ticket was $85 / person (compared to Mt. Bachelor which is around $200 / person!). Free parking. American Express is not accepted here. So bring VISA, MasterCard, or cash to buy your lift ticket and food. Also, there is NO public WiFi. And cell coverage is spotty. Be prepared.

My favorite resort in central Oregon, yes it's smaller than Bachelor but it's also less busy, friendlier, cheaper (season pass is $500), more family oriented, less pretentious, and less catering to out of town yuppies (AKA there's no fastpass here, screw you POWDR corp!). Also I've experienced far fewer mechanical lift failures than at Bachy. You can arrive at 8:30 or so and there's still plenty of room in the parking lot (usually) In other words, it's CHILL. And laid back, and more locals-oriented. Hooray for Hoodoo!

I understand the issues business have with COVID restrictions. I understand mandates and them just doing and enforcing "required" mandates okay. What's not okay, and what I have a big problem with is the fact that "customers" are treated like dirt, literally. There is absolutely ZERO customer service these days. These employees that work for Hoodoo treated me and my son like garbage! Shitty attitudes, zero respect for us and my hard-earned income I spend to keep all their asses employed. All because of COVID. The way the chair lift operator came at my underage son pissed me off! The audacity of these employees and their lack of respect in general was appauling! A simple smile and a friendly reminder to wear a mask would suffice. Instead the "man" came at my son like he was going to toss him out for simply forgetting to have his mask on in the lift line. We had words! Not to mention you still have to pay full price and the facilities as well as the food is all limited, over priced and gross. Don't eat the cesarean wrap! They forced their customers to use 6 porta potties that were just about as nasty as you'd expect them to be at the last day of a Woodstock concert. The guy with a red beard was a complete !@#$ when I approached the OUTDOOR window to order our over priced nasty lunch because I didn't have my nose covered when I approached then windows to order. Then this guy had the audacity to ask if I wanted to tip them. I quickly said no "not if you guys are going to talk to yoyt customers tgr way you do with so much disrespect. All of this can be done respectfully!! A smile and a friendly reminder goes a long way! Your attitude toward those spending their hard earned income in your establishment goes a long way. What doesn't work for me are all these young kids talking down your me, being rude and disrespectful. I will NEVER spend another dollar at Hoodoo.

Happy 70th Birthday Hoodoo! The mountain gods were smiling yesterday and my men came back with sun kissed faces, sore knees and happy hearts. Great day of Spring skiing at Hoodoo. Me: "Did you have fun today?" Son #2": Smiles. "Yeah" Me: "How many runs did you take? 1, 2, 3..." S2: "30" -- Dad says he didn't exaggerate too much Me: "Did you fall down?" S2: Bigger smile. "Yeah." -- Dad confirms there were a couple of yard sales. Me: "Did you crash into anyone?" S2: Look of disappointment. "No." (Note to self - get ski helmet STAT) Me: "Do you want to go skiing again?" S2: "Yeah. I'm going to be a hot dog." This was my 6 year old's second time skiing and this was a great place for him to learn. They loved that the owner is in the parking lot (rockin' a Hawaiian shirt and directing traffic) and that they could watch others attempt the ski jumps. They even spent a little time on a Black Diamond run -- I'm so proud. We'll be back.

If you are looking for a great place to go with friends or to take the family this is it. It's a perfect ski lodge with a staff that feels like family. The lodge is always clean and the rental area and ticket booth gets you in and out as fast as possible. The restaurant has plenty of options and all the food is great, the bar upstairs has plenty of options and there is more then enough seating upstairs and down. The ski instructors are amazing both my kids have taken lessons here and always feel very confident after each lesson. The slopes are always groomed and not over crowed and the chair lift lines move smoothly. The ski patrol is the best they are some of the most caring people and always ready to head up the mountain to help you.

This place is the bomb! I just took my family here for the first time. My nephew and daughter were first time skiers and my son and I are experienced snowboarders/skiers-the staff at Hoodoo made all of our experiences great! From Kelsey and the crew at the rental department to the guys operating the chairlifts (who kept running the lifts when my nephew was practically the only one on the hill and was having the time of his life) to the ski instructors that were so good, you all put big smiles on our faces and memories of a great trip and awesome ski resort. The panoramic view from the top of this gem was a pleasant surprise too. Beautiful resort, beautiful people, I almost don't want to share! Thanks Hoodoo!!!

This place is awesome for a fun filled family outing. The atmosphere is fun and light. The staff seems to actually enjoy their jobs and in turn do a great job at them. Service with a smile. Often quick lines at the lifts. Not heading up the lifts? Snowshoeing, x-country skiing, and sledding are all available instead. Don't like the cold? Beer and fireplaces in the lodge. Have a friend or family member with a disability? Check out Oregon Adaptive Sports. They work with Hoodoo and offer some amazing experiences.

People don't talk much about the food, but it's surprising good. They got a full bar and decent American food. Lots of seating area with tables and chairs for lots of groups. Great for those taking a break from the snow sports or just hanging out and watch our friends/family. read more

I went for beginners ski school for adults. This was only the second time putting on a pair of skis in my life. The school day progressed at a reasonable speed and all of my classmates and I left the class feeling no ready to hit the slopes. All of us upgraded our tickets to do the overeasy hill. Our instructor, Colin was very attentive to all of the people in the class. We had a small class of 5 which made it feel personable. All of the people that were in the class were supportive of each other. Other skiers were also cautious of us newbies out on the slopes.Along with being my first ski class this was my first visit to Hoodoo. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. Overall good atmosphere& I plan to be back! read more

I wish I could give zero stars. I booked a lift ticket, and unlike Mt. Bachelor and Willamette Pass, Hoodoo did not credit my ticket - even though there was no snow in January... The lack of flexibility/understanding and customer service was disappointing, and as a result, you've lost another customer. read more

This review is mainly for ski school. I haven't skied in over 14 years and I took a lesson to ease back into it. My instructor was Adam (aka RADam). He was amazing!! He made me feel so safe and comfortable. He challenged me as far as I was comfortable with and helped me progress so fast. I almost took the group lessons but was so glad I didn't. It would've been a 4-6 hour day and I don't have that kind of time. I've taken two lessons since I visited Hoodoo for the first time, both with Adam. He helped me down a green trail and I was so scared, but he gave me the best tips to create good habits from the get go. I highly recommend ADAM if you'll take a private lesson. Private lesson costs per hour are SOOO much more reasonable than most places, especially Bachelor. Definitely check this place out. I also went to Bachelor without a lesson in between those two lessons and just didn't feel comfortable. Hoodoo is definitely more family and beginner friendly with plenty of areas to practice. Great vibes and atmosphere too! Whereas Bachelor might be more for tourists, visitors, and 'rich' folks LOL. I know there are a few bad reviews here, and I do agree some of the employees aren't great, but my personal experience has been great so far. If you're heading back toward Bend, definitely stop by downtown Sisters for some food! read more
Nice small resort with good variety of runs. Trails are narrower than other resorts - even green ones. Tip: If you are a beginner, don't ride the Green Machine lift - even though it says "Over Easy" is a green run, it's pretty steep and narrow. Took us 2 hours to get down - it should have been marked a blue run. It made what was supposed to be a relaxing afternoon into a stressful one. read more

Hoodoo sets the bar high for relaxed atmosphere, genuinely nice employees, and awesome personality. No snow recreation destination in Oregon is better at those three things than Hoodoo. If you put in some effort you'll also find steep steeps, pow stashes, and downhill runs that keep you and your friends smiling. I mentioned "friends" for a reason - friends are what Hoodoo is all about. Bring some up with you! read more

By far and away the worst mountain in Oregon. 15 minutes on a lift for a 5 minute run. Lifts are slow, runs are bad, park is terrible and the snow is typically sub par. Yet they still charge $70 for a lift ticket. Only go here if it's your last resort. read more

I don't know about the mountain but the ski school was horrendous. We booked days in advance, arrived 2.5 hours early and were bounced around until 20 minutes after our lesson was to begin - then told they did not have boots for our kids....even though we filled out the rental form the day before and it was now 10am. So, we had to leave and the kids were devestated. They said come back, it will be on them. We tried. The person who emails said to give 2 days notice which I did but she only replies 1x a day so any correspondence takes 24 hours. So, here we are expecting to go to ski school without any confirmation. I've begged for a manager to call me back just so I can verify, before rushing out the door, that they will have gear for my kids but no one will call me. I call them, I get a voicemail box that is full. The only way is to show up and hope they can accommodate but for a mom with 2 little kids - driving 2 hours each way for a maybe is not feasible. So, maybe a fun mountain but we will never know. My kids' memory was of a place that really just didn't care about them. read more
My girlfriend and her family have been skiing here for years and they love it! I finally hit the slopes with them recently and Hoodoo was the perfect place to learn! Both of my instructors were extremely nice and helpful, and they let you learn at your own speed. They also take your preferences to heart during the lesson. It's an excellent place to ski with great varieties of runs! Would recommend for anyone at any level! read more

Ski areas are more than the snow we ski on. I was at Hoodoo on Friday February 19,2021. It was a white out on top of the mountain and I was skiing the east face off of Green Machine. With zero visability I went off a lip and headered in the snow. After I climbed the hill and recovered my ski I skied off to notice that I lost my phone and keys. I went back as best I could however needle in the haystack. Had I been hurt, maybe someone would have skied by. I didn't witness a ski patrol on the hill Thursday or Friday . Decided to ski down at 2:15 to start calling numbers. Put my skis in the rack in front of the ticket office and went around the building to find someone to help. I discovered there is no obvious place to go to get assistance. I finally found a guy talking with a woman with a lanyard and i.d. and waited till he was done talking to ask about where to call. He said go to the Powder shop and call from there. I went to the Powder shop where the employee apparently was unable to talk except for the phrase, "ticket office" and pointed in the direction. I explained my case to the person at the ticket office. She was kind enough to recognize what I needed and let me ion to use the Hoodoo phone. Lanyard guy eventually came in and asked what I was doing there and grunted it was cool. He was super loud and obnoxious. Long story short, I was on the phone for 4 hours contacting AAA my car company etc. to make sure I got out of there. I gave the tow truck company and my fiance the phone number to the office(general Hoodoo number) so they could get ahold of me. Both parties said they called 7 and 8 times and were either redirected to a different department or the phone wasn't answered at all. The last moments of my time in the office were of a snarky young buck standing over me with an attitude of "Get the .... out of here" This same young buck told me that I didn't need to fill out a theft report after my skis were stolen in front of the window where he was sitting!! After walking looking for the tow truck guy and working with him to get my vehicle on the tow truck in the dark and having to break my window , I got to go back to the ski rack and find out my skis were stolen. Great Day at Hoodoo. To the other lady that realized her snowboard was stolen at the same time, I hope you let people know how unsecure the racks are at Hoodoo. After my $723.25 tow ride home, lost phone and keys, and $1,300 loss of my skis I feel bummed. However, the icing on the cake is being treated like poop from the employee , whose name starts with a J, who witnessed the whole thing and had zero empathy and was full of attitude. There are no cameras at Hoodoo and it is apparent that the management has other things to do besides customer care. This is the last place I would ever ski again and I definitely would not take children! read more

incompetent staff with a huge lack of communication between each other. i called twice to confirm rentals for snogo spoke to two different people. not once did they mention that hoodoo ski area requires a license for snogo. also you are not allowed to rent a snogo and use at other mountains. they are the only rental in oregon. other mountains accept snogo and do not require a license. we planned our trip to rent from hoodoo and ride timberline which accepts snogo. no license required we mentioned to two different people in rentals that we were planning on renting and using at another mountain(three hours away where our air bnb was). no one contested. until after we paid for snogo rentals. day pass and lesson that only hoodoo ski area requires. thanks -_- the bartenders making TOP CLASS DRINKS would be my positive for this mountain in conclusion major lack of communication. most employees are dumbfounded when speaking to them. this mountain is a BAIT and SWITCH with no thought for the consumer. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON LESSONS. We had an awful experience with the lessons. Our toddler was not given any instruction, the young ski instructor Eli (who looked stoned) was not helpful in the slightest to get her to participate then he left, another person teaching lessons but on a snowboard came over and she happily engaged, she then said because she was on a snowboard she couldn't help us. We were charged full price for the lesson but got absolutely nothing from it. I reached out to the staff and it took over a week to get in contact with them, when I finally did receive a call back Kyle was not helpful, at one point he was calling my husband a liar and said excuse me, he refused to refund me. He offered us to reschedule an option they didn't offer the day of, but regardless I have no faith in this program, the instructors, or the management. We have invested in lessons for all our kids and never had any horrible experiences like this. read more

My 8 yr old and I took Level 1 ski lessons at Hoodoo and we both had a wonderful experience. Great staff and beautiful slopes. We loved the Easy Rider gentle bunny slope. I wish we had come a day or two earlier so we could immediately come back. As a first-time skier, give yourself extra time before the 10am and 1pm classes because you'll need to sign several docs, get rental equipment, and then possibly realize you need to buy more gear (goggles and a helmet) in their shop. read more
I'm not a skiier, and we went here to finish out our weekend with some last minute snow shoeing. It was a beautiful area though. I stayed back and had a beer in the upstairs bar and hung out until my friends returned. This place seemed great to me, but I'm not much of a skiier. My friends snowshoed to a tubing area, and that seems like a great thing to try out sometime. read more
Went to Hoodoo for the first time yesterday with the family for Christmas. We had a great time. We went to Mt. Hoodoo to tube down the Autobahn. 8 lanes of great fun. We bought 10 trip tickets for each of us, and we made most of the runs even though we got there with two hours left in playtime. Lane 8 was the most fun, having the longest run and two banks to go off of. I caught lots of air and ended up in the powder on my fifth run. My first two runs were down lane 3 and I did all of my runs going down on my stomach on the innertubes, seemingly more fun than sitting in the tube. This is a small resort, which lends to it's charms. You don't need to bring any tubes with you as they have them there and are included in the price. We got 10 runs for $14 each. They also have a tow chain going up the hill, for those of us Over the Hill. But if you're willing to walk or run it up the hill, you'll get more rides in. They have an unlimited ride ticket for $25 also, and if you get there at 10:00 in the morning, you should definitely get your money's worth of rides up and down the hillside. Bring a lunch with you, as they only have a small yurt with the cashier and goods inside. They do have cocoa and coffee, along with some bottled drinks, but you're best off just brining your own and either leaving it in the car in the lot (not far at all) or bringing a cooler with you if you trust people to stay out of it as you enjoy the tubing action. All in all, I gave it four stars but would have given it five stars if they had picnic tables or something like that to stop and rest at. Otherwise, it was perfect. This review is for the Autobahn tubing area only. NOT THE SKI AREA. That review will come at a later date after I have ski'd the mountain. read more

Love hoodoo ski area!! I took my two friends here. They are beginners and the slopes were perfect for someone learning how to board/ski. With that said one staff member went out of his way to make our day better. He was closing up the hot dog stand and we got to talking and we told him our friend hurt his knee and was in the car and Brian was very empathetic and caring. Great Place for no lines and cheap skiing! Hoodoo is very under-rated, there are no lines, its half price as competition, great staff. The only down side is the flat spots that plague any green run. My wife and kids drove to Hoodoo with our camper to stay for a couple of nights and see the fireworks etc for New Years and were very excited when we were able to buy passes for two nights for our camper, my Suburban and our extra car. I had to leave early the 1st morning to work in Redmond and was gone for a couple hours. Completely understanding the Holiday and the huge crows that were going to be hawking for parking spots...that is why we got there a day before New Years Eve. I texted my wife to see how her morning was going, she answered "Stressed!" that she had people giving her attitude about saving my spot next to my camper which again, WE PAID FOR. A few minutes later she said another guy came up to her, she told this one she had talked to 4 guys who said she was OK to save the spot since she had our permits and he said "Well, you didn't talk to me and I'm the owner". She repeated that she had paid $30 and he responded with "Well...next year it's going to be $100!". WHAT A COMPLETE DUMBASS! I'm guessing he inherited this position somehow. Owner....get your shit together, maybe set some actual expectations for your patrons who are paying you, and maybe don't be a asshole to your patrons regardless of whether you need their business or not. And if you cannot handle the stress...retire. We heard from a few employees and other patrons that the owner is like this and we are not surprised that it is common knowledge. Along with running out of food int he lodge, a horror story in the parking lot with the masses due to ZERO SYSTEMS to manage the crowds and dealing with this guy, I have to say the company gets a HUGE FAIL. This is our favorite mountain however and love this place so don't avoid the mountain, just don't expect much good from "The owner". read more

This is a great little ski area, funky family friendly and inexpensive by comparison to most any other OR ski area. Just make sure you check the forecast before you go - Hoodoo is often right at snow level. The terrain is great for intermediate and advanced skiers, but there are a couple of decent beginner runs. Yes, it is small, but each face of the butte has a different angle and aspect and each run is a little bit different. read more

I went to this resort on Saturday which was a long time coming. I was partially paralyzed in 2016, having lost the use of my right leg from the hip down. Snowboarding was my jam. I spent years working at Crystal, Timberline, Squaw and Alpine Meadows. When I was told I'd likely never ride again, I was crushed. I've worked my ass off to get on the mountain again. This past weekend was the anticipated day that I've had in mind for years. You have a home feeling resort which I dig and it's clearly affordable. However, your employees (most of them) need to stop talking to each other, looking at their phones while dazed and confused. I snowboard and am regular. My right leg (back) is the leg that was paralyzed. I still have deficits and weakness throughout. It also fatigues quickly. So being out and snowboarding was amazing, though very difficult as well. I would ask your lift operators to slow the chair down. They did this at the bottom lifts. However, when getting to the top of the lifts, no one acknowledged my flagging them down with my arm to slow the chair in addition to giving the thumbs down to slow the chair. I was astonished. They weren't looking at their guests as they were too busy being occupied by who knows what. It's legitimately dangerous having lift operators looking anywhere but at their guests. I was embarrassed and humiliated falling when offloading because your operators weren't paying attention. It's humbling enough to go from being a very skilled athlete to a beginner. Out of frustration about the fifth time offloading, I hollered at the lift operator that he/they need to pay attention to the people offloading. He stared at me blankly. Then another guest told me that "maybe I shouldn't be on the lift." Great group of people. Up/offloading was the most difficult part of the day and it would have helped the emotional blow getting out for the first time to be acknowledged that I wanted them to slow down. Another bummer is that you offer discounts for disabled people; however, only through OAS. You literally have to belong to a group and be sponsored as an athlete to get the small discount. I have an incomplete spinal cord injury and shouldn't have to be part of a club to get a ticket. In addition, you only have two handicapped spots to park in. It's a great beginner mountain with minimal lift lines and is affordable. I will give it another shot. I just hope you have a refresher with your lifties to pay attention, rather than dancing around and talking to their work buddy paying zero attention to those riding the chairs. I'm a responsible rider and expect the same of those working for your resort. read more

The owner has I made it very clear, on a blog of his that is hosted in this company's main website, that he supports Nazis and is proud to support child rapists. Any good person should not go here. This is a fascist bootlickers hangout. From December 2024: Chucks own words... "Finally for you idiots (I am sorry, I have to tell it like it is) who think Trump is a Fascist. Please understand that a Fascist is a socialist (you know like the Pregressive "Squad") that uses the government to fight against Capitalism. Does this sound like Trump. There are plenty of derogatory words that you could use concerning Trump, but not this one. It is like being in the 1950s and following McCarthy in his statement that anyone he doesn't like is a Communist. Just because the ladies of The View say it, that doesn't make it so. In 2016 I voted against Trump for lots of good reasons, or so I thought. In 2020, I voted against Biden for reasons, some of which have been stated. But in 2024, I didn't vote for or against either candidate, I voted against propaganda and the "1984" atmosphere that has taken over. All I am hoping from Trump is that he exposes the lies which are now out there. Oh and by the way I now drive a Tesla." Yep hoodoo is for fascists. read more

A Great Family Mountain. I have skied the mountain for the last 30 + years and about 10 years ago started bring my family up from Salem and to and from our visits to Sunriver. For the most part, no lift lines, good trails and a great friendly staff. The new lodge built about 5-7 years ago (maybe longer) is a real asset for Hoodoo. Daily prices are very good as compared to other areas in Oregon and one of the few resorts with nigh skiing. Nordic trails have expanded over the years and the cross x is much more extensive than in prior years and provides for a great alternative to downhill. We'll be back for New Years eve and fireworks. read more

When I first showed up at Hoodoo, I was more than a little nervous. This was my first time snowboarding. Visions of me snapping every bone in my body kept running through my mind. Charming. Why was I doing this again? But as soon as I started getting equipped, I calmed down. The employees there were so friendly, and my instructor was awesome. I ended up having an amazing time, and I even managed not break anything! This place is perfect for anyone interested in skiing or snowboarding, whether they're first-timers or experienced. I loved it! read more

I went up to Hoodoo twice this season and had a great time! It was the first time I'd ever snowboarded, and I had a fantastic instructor. Can't say I know much about any of the bigger slopes, but everyone at Hoodoo is super friendly, and I'll definitely be coming back next season! Ohh, and prices? WAY better than anything I've seen! read more
