This is a nice restaurant on a busy Burbank street. It is open pretty late, until 10 pm, but the kitchen closes at 9 pm, which I think should be more clear. It is a very popular place to hang out even on a Thursday night, with a live band, darts, table tennis, a popcorn machine, etc. I was pretty surprised at how busy and lively this place was for past 9 pm. The food is pretty good. We ordered an arugula salad, smash burger special, and garlic tater tots with cheese sauce to share. The food was pretty good overall but the salad could have been better. The salad has fewer greens and more raisins and candied walnuts, which didn't taste super fresh. The hand-breaded chicken, which I added for $4 to the salad, was pretty good but on the crunchier side. They also use chicken thigh, and I'm not a huge fan. My partner really enjoyed his smash burger. I think the garlic tater tots had too much garlic on it. Our server was very kind and helpful. I think overall, the food is pretty good, but there could be some improvements to the dishes we had. read more

Terrible staff! I went this passed Saturday 5/17 and the bartender was incredibly rude. He announced that the kitchen was closing and I proceeded to place an order and he gave me the "talk to the hand" gesture. I get it, it's challenging to work in the service industry but the attitude was uncalled for. Please do better. read more

I almost don't want to share how much I love Story Tavern--I'd rather keep this neighborhood gem to myself! But they deserve the love, so here it is. This place is perfect for what it is: a laid-back bar with tons of free games like foosball, old-school darts, ping pong, and shuffleboard (just buy a drink to play). And let's not forget the free popcorn--it's the little things that count! The location is great, right near downtown Burbank with plenty of parking behind the building. Their drink selection has something for everyone, from premium liquor to microbrews on tap and a variety of mules. I haven't had the chance to try their food yet, but that'll be my next update. Ordered a glass of Chardonnay was told Sorry, we don't have any...Hmmm what bar doesn't carry a white wine..Asked for another drink Sorry! We don't have that type of liquor as well. Service was great, and getting the food was fast. However, if you want food poisoning, this is the place for you. My wife and I had the exact same thing, down to the beer: Story Burger with cheddar, tots, and Weihenstephaner Vitus. We both came home with food poisoning. The bathroom was disgusting, and we should've walked out based on that alone. I have a philosophy...if the bathroom is gross, the kitchen probably is too. I would definitely recommend getting dinner before coming here. The chili sliders were not good at all. Expect sloppy Joe's and three little mini buns. A friend of mine ordered the chicken sandwich with seem to be much better and the wedge salad was actually pretty good. This place features a full bar, and the service in the "playroom" was actually very nice. The lady that was very sweet and attentive. But I remember one bartender/hostess that needed an attitude adjustment. I guess everybody is entitled to a bad day. Some people were sitting in the patio and were semi accosted by a homeless person, which was a bit sad and weary all together. I've seen this place a few times now and finally got to stop in and have lunch. Got there a little after 2 pm. We Were the only people there, which is always worrisome (we thought maybe they were closed). Sadly, one of the worst dining experiences I have had in quite a while. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich. It was not edible. There was almost no actual chicken, the breading was thick and chewy and the first place in the sandwich I tried to bite I couldn't even bite through. I sent it back and asked for the spicy grilled chicken instead. This was edible, but far from good. There was little to no spice. I ended up having to pull the sandwich apart to remove a big chunk of fat/skin that I couldn't bite through. The server never even bothered to ask if the replacement sandwich was okay. Another person in our group ordered the fried chicken sandwich as well. When he went to send his back, the server actually argued with him about if the sandwich was okay or not. This is probably our favorite place to grab a drink in this part of Burbank. You can sit on the bar side and carry on a conversation since the game side of the place is separate. They have a nice selection of alcohol and a small pub menu of food. Plenty of seating of you have a large party, also plenty of televisions if drinking and watching sports ball is your thing. Wow um I'm not sure where to start with how bad this place was. And it was more about how poorly everything was handled. I called ahead to give this place a heads up about my birthday celebration I would be having there. I said it was around 20 or so people, we didn't need any special treatment or anything but since it was a big group I felt it was good to give them notice. They said it would be no problem and they would be happy to have my group. We get to the place and there's a covered patio outside the game room, it's completely empty so my friends and I start to take those tables. We then go to the bar to order and they told us we needed to be waited on, which was weird because we had been sitting outside for a bit and no one had come to give us water even. Then, a waitress come up and asked how many more people would be coming and I said around 20, she seemed absolutely shocked and did not seem to want to take our food orders for a few appetizers. She then went in and told us to just order at the bar (like we originally were trying to). So, we went BACK to the bar and ordered. She also told us that we needed to leave some tables open on the patio in case other people wanted to use them. Why would other people need to use the tables? They would be filled with people ordering and eating from my group? I asked if the other tables were reserved and she said no. So we were just apparently not allowed to take open tables that no one was sitting at in case someone else came? That made no sense. The waitress also said the kitchen was going to be closing in an hour, at this time it was 6:30pm, so their kitchen closes at 7:30pm? On a Saturday night? That seems way too early.... It didn't end up mattering because... About 15min later the bartender came out and said their grill was broken so they could make any of our burgers or sandwiches. So we said no problem, we'll just order apps. The guy said we'd have to go back to the bar and re-order, he was just telling us they weren't going to make our food. So we go back for a 3rd time and order AGAIN, and another 10min later they come out and tell us their stove is broken so they literally cannot make us anything except a salad or Mac and cheese from the microwave. I found this super weird as when we came in people were eating in the dining room so we're all those people just eating salads? Insane. They were not very nice either about any of this. Reading the other reviews it doesn't seem like their service is great. We tried the microwave Mac and cheese and it was not great, no surprise. They give you plastic utensils in a bag that you'd expect at a fast food restaurant, not an actual sit down place that serves food. But they didn't serve us any food so who knows. I wouldn't look to this bar to have a party at, even though they do have a game room. Just seems like the service sucks and they don't actually want groups of customers. Maybe they only want to cater to dates or smaller groups. If that's the case then they should've said something over the phone. I understand that places have off nights, but to have no food and then not seem apologetic or helpful to offer other options or maybe like a few drinks on the house is just poor customer service to me. Serving up a wide variety of craft beer, Story Tavern has over 20 craft beers on tap. They also have wine on tap. Yes! Wine. Story Tavern has beer pong tables, shuffleboard, dartboards and foosball tables. You must leave your I.D before playing any of the games. They just want to make sure you bring back the game equipment, like the paddles and balls.It's definitely a good place for interaction with a date or hanging with friends. The patio outside is great for people watching, since It's such a high traffic street. I thought it was kinda weird my beer was served in a plastic cup. I am sure It's because all the games and they don't want broken glass everywhere but it made the beer lukewarm. Maybe you get a glass if you sit at the bar, not sure.I love beer that comes in a nice frosty mug or glass, not a cup. I never got a chance to order food , but it looked good. Great spot for drinks and pub food. We got a bloody Mary and old fashioned (the bloody Mary was good; have had better old fashioneds). For food we got the jalapeno Mac and cheese and the shepherds pie. The food was fine - pretty standard. There was live music on Saturday night which was awesome. In the side room, they have lots of games - ping pong tables, a shuffleboard table, several dart boards. They gave happy hour every day, so this is a great spot for games! read more
