Amazing date night place. My boyfriend took me here "just because" and we loved it. We shared a bucket and got a combination of crab legs, shrimp, clams, corn and sausage. We both filled up and still had extras to take home. We asked our server for a sharpie to sign the booth so we can have memories of our first date there. Away celebrating our 18th anniversary, honey & I stop in as we are Creole boil connoisseur's. We were quickly greeted/seated. The waiter was energetic; charismatic; eager to please & on point with suggestions. The place was huge and very clean. Atmosphere was pleasant. As a courtesy, they start you with two pieces of seafood breadstix. They were out of this world! And the crab meat was 100% crab. Honey & I shared a #4 ( 1lb. crawfish; 1lb. snow crablegs; 1/2 lb. sausage; 1lb. Shrimp; 8 baby potatoes and 8 small corn on the Cobb. (SO GLAD WE DID NOT ORDER TWO). Cause we left with a half bag. Normally at most seafood boil joints we would have to pay extra for the sausage; the extra 3 corn/potato's. Honey had hush puppies for his appetizer. He loved them, not the dipping sauce. My appetizer was gumbo & 6 raw oysters. The oysters was served with Tabasco; horse radish; lemons & crackers. Oysters, so good. The gumbo was a 3 out of 5. The right ingredients, right kick, didn't cook the roux long enough. And the consistancy was too liquidity, should be more consistency. I had a hurricane Jay cocktail, delicious! Great job on the alcohol ratio. ;-) Now, the boil... They had six levels of hot. The chosen spice level was hot w/ Cajun butter. That level was great for the honey. The waiter was observant enough to recommend I have him bring me a bowl on the side for the next level (very hot). That was perfect for me. I like my food with lots of flavor & a bit of a bit. Let me start with the service. It was fantastic! The staff were very nice, helpful and friendly. A guy actually came to our table ( I think he was the manager) and tought us how to peel a crawfish! We started with the complimentary shrimp garlic mayo bread which was very yummy. Then we ordered a gumbo with rice. The soup was full of seafood meat, spicy, hot and delicious. For the main course we ordered combo 4 with some added sausage and Cole slaw. The combo had snow crab legs, shrimps and crawfish ( one pound of each) plus corn, sausage and potatoes. We chose crab house Cajun boil and Hot sauce. Everything was very fresh, cooked on point and delicious. We couldn't finish everything (were 2 people) so we also ended up with leftovers. I asked them to give me some of their hottest sauce (Sam's special) on the side too. That was hot but not crazy. Overall I think they deserve a solid 5stars. Hey All, I've been here twice now with my Mother. She's a lover of seafood and I just love good food. Given that I have lived over 25 years on the West Coast but spent a lot of time down south I will say this place is wonderful. The prices are right, the staff new, yet friendly, I can say that this is a winner and hope all that try it to experience what it is- Great Southern style seafood including messy but if you use the plastic gloves provided, you'll be really satisfied. Loved it! A very different seafood experience. Very tasty and delicious! We got combo number 3 and 4 for 6 people which was a sufficient portion for us. We also substitute to lobster tail and mussel which were really tasty. I have heard that there used to be another seafood place with the same idea in the same location and this one is a new business. This was a new place for us to check out and was happy to see a seafood place in the area. Loved there options for steam pots with multiple flavor options. With so many options of combos was hard to decide. Tried the lobster tails, crab legs and shrimp boil and was more then enough for 2. One year later, maybe it's because of COVID-19 but the take out was a far cry from my eat in experience last year. I even added blue crab to the mix and quite honestly were more akin to ghost Crabs. Amazing seafood boil spot in the Buffalo area!!! A bit pricey as is any other seafood boil spot but the price you pay will definitely be well spent! I ordered 3 lbs of seafood for 2 people along with half a dozen of oysters. In the seafood boil we had lobster, shrimp, and clams. We substituted the claw fish that the combo originally came with for shrimp and I was shocked at how much shrimp came with the order! My boyfriend and I didn't end up finishing all the seafood. We did the hot Cajun seasoning and it was on point!!! The spiciness wasn't too overwhelming, it didn't linger in our mouth after each bite so we were able to eat till we were full. The management and waitresses are absolutely awful and rude. We were served yellow smelly oysters and when we told the waitress she just ran and got the "manager" instead of trying to rectify the situation. The manager proceeded to give us a speech for 5 minutes about how they get everything from Cisco and the oysters are good for 90 days. Then further insulted us by saying "some people just don't like raw food". The prices are appropriate for seafood but the presentation amongst other things are equivilent to a fast food joint. If anyone has becomes ill after eating there please report this establishment. They clearly cut corners in many ways and serve food that is not fresh. read more

Finally made it to storming crab.. when first pulling into the parking lot I thought there would be a huge wait time but we only waited about 7 mins, thank goodness, they had a lot of parties that were huge and I was only a party of 2. While waiting I signed the wall and talked to the hostess who was very friendly and had good conversation. Once seated our waitress came over right away to take our drink orders and gave us the complimentary bread. The bread was quite tasty and full of garlic, I could have eaten 1 more slice of it.. So my ordering experience was nothing like I imagined. I assumed that my bill would be so high and ridiculous but I was willing to pay it just to get what I wanted. I've seen a lot of people talk about the prices and I'm glad that I went for myself to see how it really works. So, you are able to substitute certain items for other items in the combos that they offer (I believe you can substitute any of the seafood but you are not able to substitute the sausage). Also, the market price value isn't too high and you don't have to purchase anything by the pound, you can order items in 1/2 pounds. I have provided pics of my bill and my friends bill just to give everyone a better idea. I ordered a whole lobster and 1/2 pound of crab legs with the garlic butter and mild heat. It took no time to receive our meals and the waitress placed the bibs around each of us (which I thought was great customer service). I opened my bag to what I thought would be heaven. I had never tried a full lobster but I've been watching Mukbang on YouTube and thought I would give it a try. My lobster seemed to be Overcooked, the tail was so chewy and hard to chew. The claws were just okay, I feel like the lobster gave me a bad taste in my mouth. Not sure if it was the lobster or maybe the mixture of everything I had. I haven't had a chance to eat my crab legs as of yet but I will update my review when I eat them. The Garlic butter is extremely strong and the garlic really hits you, I feel like my food still has too much spice to it, even tho I asked for mild. Quality of seafood was horrible. Crab legs & lobster were rubbery, stringy & tasted like an aquarium smells. Also very difficult to crack open and eat given that shells were slathered in butter/grease that didn't even manage to flavor the meat inside. Lousy ambience - Too brightly lit and graffiti scrawling on the walls apparently passes as decoration. Dropped nearly $100 (no alcohol) and left hungry and nauseated. This place is the worst. First day at this seafood themed restaurant. Brand new in the old Joe's Crab Shack on Maple Rd. Greeted pleasantly by multiple personnel. On the pricier side from what I'm used to but it is a new concept diverse seafood selection. Clams, oysters, crab, mussels, with a number of "boil" seasonings. Cajun garlic butter old bay plain. I had the garlic bread which was toasted but not overly so,cheesy and garlicky. Fried okra was next and they were good but my favorite has always been Church's chicken fried okra the breading was heavier on these and I would of liked ore okra flavor. The gumbo with rice was fine what you would expect seafood broth a touch of roux sausage and bits of seafood filling with a hint of thyme. Soft shell crab basket with cajun seasoning. Very good seasoning but the breading was again heavy and took away from the soft shell crab. The fries were crispy and delicious. Nice start for this place mostly deep fried but they do have raw clams and oysters. Lastly I am stuffed to the gills and enjoyed myself and will have to return I may have missed a few things. My server was Crystal and she was helpful on the first day what she couldn't answer she went and found an answer. Kudos to her. The place is clean open and airy. read more

I'm only taking one star away because the training for the employees has to be better. I'm from California we do seafood so adding this place to buffalo was a big deal to me! The wait is expected it's new and it's only competition is in Rochester. Sitting down the waiter was super nice he explained it was his first day. He kinda forgot about us a couple times but it was fine it was expected. The down side when we pulled in there were employees outside in the parking lot drinking and smoking which is not something that they should be doing on the job. The seasoning was fine but definitely not what they say I got a hot Cajun nothing was hot or Cajun about the food. Now this comment is mostly for the people commenting. You're giving the employees a super hard time for a place that just opened. We will loose the place before it even gets to shine. Two tables left without paying their tab because "their food was wrong" but they claimed it AFTER they finished their food. Let me preface this by saying that - YES, it is pricey. It's seafood and this is Buffalo, you're going to pay. Even Joe's had high price points. However, the amount of food is very generous and it blows Joe's out of the water. My husband and I both got the #4 combo and shared with our daughter. We didn't even finish because there is just so much food. The food is fantastic. BUT .... let touch on the service or rather just our service. Our server walked up to our table and said "okay, what do you want?" It took 10 minutes for her to even get to us, another 15 for our drinks. Our food was brought out by another server which isn't unusual but we barely saw our server for the entire visit. I asked her for a drink from the bar and didn't even get it until we were basically finished. She was just a miserable human being. I wish we would have sat at the bar because the bartender was so personable, and attentive. The hostess was happy and quick on her feet. I'll definitely revisit but I hope they weed out the weak links on their team. read more

Reading the previous reviews I couldn't help but to laugh at the guy that was disappointed in the chicken wings at a seafood restaurant LOL. The food here is very good. Definitely just as good as Juicy Seafood in Rochester or Red Lobster for that matter. I would suggest a change to the menu as it is confusing they have about 5 combos listed which one you look at the prices you would think are way too high but apparently these are meals to feed two to three people the bartender explained. Each of the items listed you're actually getting a pound of each which is a good deal because each pound is a discounted price. If you're eating alone as I was, then you're paying the full price for each item you order which can get expensive quickly so that should definitely be changed because some people do eat alone in 2019. I noticed complaints about service of which I had none. Understand the place is only been open for 2 weeks now there will always be kinks to work out. Walking in I knew it was a bit of a different spot. There was signature and phrases writing all over the wall by the customers. Cool idea. The service is very friendly but unfortunately had a small language barrier and had to have our server repeat herself on more then one occasion, but we made it happen. The food came wicked fast... If you want crab go here. But don't go here looking for tasty sides or really anything else. First time for us after several years of enjoying Joe's in same location. Nobody told us the "bags" of food fed 2-3 until after we ordered. Got 2 apps and side of fries and the fried food was almost inedible. It is rare to have a French fry that is disgusting but they managed. The actual seafood we had was very good (crab and scallops). Waitress was attentive. Overall a little bit of a weird vibe that I can't put my finger on. I felt bad about the waste- paper cups, large plastic bags to serve the food, a basket full of plastic gloves, plastic bibs, plastic crab slicer-things. Just seemed not very environmentally friendly. It was our first time here and our server Jennifer was so kind in explaining the pricing and the process of ordering the combos and other options available. She provided amazing service with accuracy and efficiency, and never left us hanging. The food was amazing, and the first round of seafood bread is on the house -- don't let the prices freak you out too much, it's more than enough food, and although we each ordered a dinner combo for ourselves, we could've gotten away with ordering one to share and taken some leftovers home! My bfs food was boiled in a plastic bag and served in the same bag with a bib, gloves, and the utensils you need to open the crab! They also provided a bucket for the shells/garbage. He decided to go with the hot Cajun style butter and he devoured his food within minutes. I personally think the portion size was small for both meals. Mine, I didn't mine so much because I am not crazy about seafood but usually when I see seafood boils online I usually see super large servings. It's like a Joe's Crab Shack environment. Casual in the sense that there's a paper table cloth that your server writes on as they hand you a plastic bib. Food is all steamed seafood, which on a health level seems good (better than fried). All are steamed in your choice of seasoning. I chose the spicy old bay. It wasn't that spicy, if that's your thing. I did the number one combo of shrimp, sausage, and potatoes. I subbed scallops for the crawfish. Scallops were a little on the soggy side. Corn on the cob was chewy at best. Shrimp were solid and plentiful (that's your 3 stars, quantity). The meal comes to your table in a plastic garbage type bag (minus points on presentation). It may be a cutesy touch for some diners, but not so much when your back is to it. Instead, why not buy a $50 printer and slip the daily market prices inside the laminated menu? Everything from the food to the service was AMAZING!! They even let you write on the walls! We are HUGE fans of sea food and thought we'd give this place a try. We got most of the main meats, shrimp, snow crab, king crab, and lobster. They were all cooked perfectly! We were able to choose between different seasonings (you can add more then one if you'd like) and spiciness. Which my husband says was very good since he's the spice tester. So if you love spiciness be careful because apparently it's really spicy everything was clean even the bathrooms. Highly recommend if you want fun place to enjoy some seafood! read more

Let's start with the food and atmosphere- if you've never been to a restaurant like this, your food comes out in a bag and you eat with your hands. Just do it! I've read reviews with people upset about the lack of cutlery, or having to peel the shrimp heads off themselves... that's what these restaurants are all about!! Anyways, the shrimp and scallops were amazing! I always order it with all the seasonings combined (here I believe it's their house Cajun) and Storming Crab did not disappoint. There was so much garlic!! And they're not messing around with their spice levels! It took us a little while to acquire a server, but once we did, he was gold. This was the first time that we have been to this restaurant but I didn't expect much but I think that had to do with the previous tenants. My husband and I went for a date night dinner. It was finger licking delicious!!!! The waitress showed us how to peel/eat crawfish. It was extremely appreciated. The waitress answered any questions that we had and was really accommodating. The taste of the sauces was fantastic. My husband got crab house cajan with medium spice level. He said it was really good. I ordered a butter garlic with a mild level of spice. It was so yummy. We ate with our fingers and used a crazy amount of napkins. It was fun and we had some laughs after a flung crab leg meat all over myself. We would absolutely eat here again. P.S. If you go here and the waitress asks if you want your boil in the bag or dumped out, get it dumped out (they pour it out in a huge plate) so you can dip all your food in the sauce. YUM YUM read more
