Just meh. We heard good things around the area before coming here but it was disappointing. We got a flight of beers, the summer sausage plate & the cheese bread. After trying quite a few breweries in the area Stormcloud beers don't come out on top. The summer sausage plate was listed as three different kinds but came out with two very simular tasting slices. When we asked we were told the chef was out & the kitchen staff didn't know about which sausage was which or where the cheese on the plate came from. Cheese bread was just a flatbread with melted cheddar ...nothing special. If you are in Frankfort give it a try but don't got out of your way. read more

Second time we've been here, second time it's been delicious. The cheese ale soup is tasty (I recommend just a cup if you're ordering more food). Fiance said her pimento cheese spread was good, brat bites were a little dry but the house made horseradish mustard bridged that gap. Nachos were very good...didn't have it with the Sriracha drizzle (which we requested to not be on it) and I don't think it needs it...the cheese is spicy enough. Had the blond ale, was very good. Wait staff was very friendly and helped each other. Food came out at appropriate times and we didn't feel rushed. Bathrooms are very clean. As a footnote here, whoever designed the acoustics should train every other 'noisy' restaurant on what's appropriate. When we ate there today, the place was busy and with kids. The music was playing but it wasn't loud, yet you could hear it well, if you listened. Plus other tables were having their conversations but they weren't intrusive or having to yell over the usual din of an eatery. I am a regular at breweries and I was so excited to check this one out. I was so disappointed with the service that I will not be back. There was a wide selection of apparel and growlers. The building itself and the outdoor area with corn hole was very cool. The beer was just ok. There was not one beer that stood out to me and I tried a flight so I would be able to have a variety. While we waited at our table we ordered a summer sausage plate as an appetizer. The server we had was the worst server that I have had in the past 5 years. She was rude, seemed annoyed by questions, and didn't ask if we wanted new drinks when they ran out. The food took over an hour to come out and the only things we ordered were grilled cheese and salads. Unfortunately I was extremely disappointed and would not recommend visiting it. read more

Fantastic little brewery for this small, coastal town. Just a walk from the beach with a great selection of local beers. They had anything from a light beer to an amber to a dark Belgian. Visited on a Thursday evening, party of 7. Seated quickly enough after putting name on wait list earlier. They had music, a gentleman playing rock very loudly. We asked our server if he would ask them to turn it down, he told us they couldn't and wouldn't as management allowed the musicians to be as loud as they wanted to. We couldn't even talk and hear the person next to us. Other customers left for same reason. Really sad as food was good. As a retired chef and restauranteur I would have never allow the musicians to have control over my dining room and customers. read more

If I were basing this review solely on food I would give it 4 stars, but unfortunately I can only give it a 1 based on service. Which was really poor. Right away we ordered cheese sticks (or whatever they're called) and pretzel bites. A half hour goes by and we still don't have our appetizers. Here was the first chance our server had to act like she cared about our experience. Finally they came out. Food followed shortly but we were missing an entire grilled cheese and cup of tomato soup. The food runner was useless. Instead of trying to make the situation right she ran off without telling us anything. Upon questioning she said she had to consult with our server. We were missing an entire meal and no one was doing a thing about it. Our server came over to ask how everything was. Great, but we were still missing a meal. Still, no one seemed to care or want to fix it. Finally we said forget it. They comped our appetizers but no apology. My daughter also says she heard the server mutter something under her breath that sounded like the word "stupid". We won't be back. read more

We ate here for the second time this week. The food is delicious. I highly recommend the cheddar ale soup, the Thai One On pizza, the Crop Top pizza, and the Stormavores pizza. The beer is good, too. Our server the first night this week was great; helpful, knowledgeable and she did a great job. Tonight there was quite a wait. We don't mind waiting. We wandered down the street, came back, but when we came in out of the storm we soon discovered that the hostess had written our name down earlier but then overlooked it and threw away the sheet of paper. So it was well over 1 1/2 hours until we were seated. Apologies abounded, but a complimentary bowl of popcorn (which is delicious!) would've been so easy to offer. 5/5 stars from a brewery perspective, especially if you like Belgian style beer. The restaurant is clean and open. Patio and board games are an added bonus. The menu is not bad, but boring. It seems like every eatery in Frankfort specializes in flatbread pizzas, which is a bit lazy. We had the veggie flatbread and market salad. Both were tasty, but not overly memorable. Service was also just ok. This place could benefit from a host during peak hours. We went in and helped ourselves to a table. This place was awesome! Awesome beer, awesome outdoor seating, but sort of small inside. My favorite part about it of course was the outside. It was dog friendly, and it was a beautiful summer day! They don't have food, but there was a food truck that parks there (I'm not sure how often) and the owners of it were amazing. The cook (I believe the husband of the two) was the nicest guy, made my food exactly how I liked, and even checked on us after we got it to see how we were doing! The girl (possibilities his wife) was very nice too, I didn't get to talk to her but as I was waiting in line, she was sitting at a picnic table and called over to me and said "Oh, are you waiting? I'm still making the menu." Which I thought was funny, and showed that there menu constantly changes! I had the pigster, which is a pulled pork taco with a little bit of heat and mustard, it was fantastic! My parents had the squid salad taco, they said it was great as well... I didn't try it. Ok, back to the beer! I can't remember what my parents had, but I had the 228 tripel. It was a lighter beer, high alcohol (8.2% abv) though so be careful. It was a little fruity, but very refreshing. Again, I wish I tasted more of what my parents had because I don't even remember what they drank... if you go there, I would suggest trying the Rainmaker Ale, I was disappointed I didn't get to try it because it had won a bunch of awards. Another thing I really liked about this place was that it was kid friendly. I know this, because I was thirsty after my Pigster, but wasn't feeling another beer. They had a very good supply of Faygo, which is just as refreshing and good for people who don't drink or can't. Another reason it was so kid friendly, was all the games! The outdoor area also featured cornhole and I believe horse shoes, which are awesome games to play while enjoying a beer and it really gave the area a backyard feel. Overall, I can't say enough good things about this place, food, beer, games... that's all I need! They do also have brewery tours that we didn't do, but I'd love to hear about how that is if anyone tries it. read more

I really wanted to like this place. Trying new beer is one of my favorite hobbies. However, good service can make or break a dining experience and Stormcloud fell short in this category. The ordering process is very confusing and was not explained to us. We waited about 15 minutes for 4 beers. We ordered appetizers and had to ask the waitress for silverware THREE times. She finally returned on the third time with one set of silverware. We gave up at that point. I had the soft pretzel appetizer and it was served with about a tablespoon of dipping cheese. I was told that it would be $2 for more. I'm sorry, but that is not how you treat customers and nickel and diming people is certainly not how you make money. We would have stayed for more beer and food, but after the cheese incident we headed down to Dinghy's without even finishing our beers. read more

Best ev uh. I'm a huge beer snob, as I started brewing twenty + years ago when I couldn't find enough local breweries. My dearly departed wife and I literally toured the United States chasing waterfalls and brewpubs after Jerry Garcia died. Hell, we needed an excuse for nonsensical, whimsical travel. Stormcloud is the pinnacle of Up North breweries. My parents have a place within a mile of Shorts. I love it and have for years, but Stormcloud and their brewer, Brian I believe, are off the hook! This gem is unquestionably the place in Frankfort. Within walking distance of the beach right next to the movie theatre. The best thing, however, is the beer. My buddy and I sampled each one, splitting pints. It's best beer I've ever tasted. In particular, the Beach Buddha is the best IPA I've ever had. I go to Stone's Garden in San Diego and can honestly say Stormcloud has better beer overall, hands down. I hope the winter skies don't hamper the success of this place. Amazing. If you don't go, you don't like real beer. Kudos to the staff and wonderful owners. read more

What a perfect addition to Frankfort! This is a very classy operation with sharp decor, cool patio,very friendly employees, delicious pizza and snacks, and really, really good beer. I was quite surprised at how good their beer is considering what little time they've been open. I don't think their food offerings would be good for a big dinner, they're more like lunch or snack-type items. What really impressed me was that they happily filled a growler of mine from another brewery. Some breweries will only fill their growlers, which I think is silly, and why I have a ridiculous number of growlers at home. And I don't drive around with my growler collection in my vehicle. read more

Great beers (I had the Birdwalker and the Supercell; my boyfriend had the Nightswimmer and the Beach Bhudda--we were very happy all around), delicious food (we ordered the Echo Bend pizza which came with fresh greens on top--sooo good, and the salad of the day which was a beet and carrot slaw--perfect). Really simple but quaint atmosphere (I loved the ceiling fans--almost looked steampunk!). We didn't mind the lack of table service, and the servers behind the bar were helpful and quick. One woman even chased me down on the street when I left a folder behind at my table! That's service! We walked by a few times later that week and were pleased as punch to see it was absolutely bumping every time--I hope this business continues to thrive and we'll be able to pop in many more times during our visits to Frankfort. But what I really admire about this place is that it attracts a diverse clientele (age wise, hipness wise, local vs tourist wise) where EVERYONE feels welcome and everyone (vegan, carnivore, teetotaler, alcohol Imbiber, old young, tourist, local) can cobble together a meal's worth of delicious foods When you go to a rather new place (that is, new in the last 5 years) you can see right off the bat if it's A) someone's head trip, wherein they're giving you what they want to give you or B) a real, true going concern, where they're giving the public something they want. It was very busy with it being Memorial Day weekend! We came to Stormcloud really hungry, I wish we would have looked at the food menu right outside the door before we went in. We took a chance and went right to find a table since it is a 'seat yourself' kind of place. The waitress seemed very busy so service was slower that it probably normally is. The beer menu seemed pretty diverse. The boys got beer, us girls settled for non-alcoholic drinks. We ordered the brat bites, and they honestly weren't my favorite, kind of rubbery if you ask me, but the chips were SO GOOD!!! Reading through the reviews I wish we would have got a pizza! I figured I would try the boys' beer. I preferred the Confederate Gold, which I believe is seasonal. Tasted exactly like Blue Moon but with a peach undertone instead of orange. Not too bad! I stopped at stormcloud recently after spending a day at the beach. I had high hopes for the experience, I am a big fan of craft beer and pub food. It rained on my hopes and my visit to the cloud... The Beer is average, nothing remarkable but its expensive. $5+ a glass is alot for average beer made in house. Brewing economics are simple and even with a healthy margin it need not cost so much! especially for a lighter beer that is dirt cheap to make. The food was a major disappointment and i'm guessing they don't even have much more than a microwave, and a toaster in the kitchen. I had the pizza and a salad. The pizza's are all the same size on a plastic tray and had the feel like they must be coming out of a "TurboChef Oven". Pizza like beer is all over these days. But the flavor selections were not great and the pizza was sub par not even average. the dough tasted packaged and the quality of the ingredients for a premium priced item was sub-standard. A real crime during our summer season when lots of local produce is available. The salads are even worse than the pizza, I wish I had a picture. They are tiny. $4 or $6 for a soup cup sized salad. Come on lettuce is cheap. even if it is free range, organic and orgasmic... And the Cowboy Caviar Bean salad was almost frozen cold, bland a bit more tomato and it would be salsa. No table service also is a major failure, There was a huge line at the bar and it led to crappy service even on a night when it was empty. I would skip this place it is busy. Its just beer people serve it quickly and in a clean glass. You order at the bar, but they really could use some wait staff. In summary, Stormcloud Brewing, looks great, But has below average food and unremarkable beer. Congrats to frankfort for opening a modern type of establishment. Hire some folks from the Fusion and the Deli down the street and serve some real food. read more

Super exciting to see a new business, especially a microbrewery, open up in Frankfort. It's such a great space with outdoor seating, plenty of bar space, live music, and oh yeah...a lot of good noshing options. Although I am extremely averse to Belgain-style beers and this is how Stormcloud emulates their brews, we still really enjoyed ourselves here. I was super bummed that they had run out of their Imperial IPA, so I can't really speak much about their actual beers since all that was left was an "ok" pale ale that still had that Belgain-y sweetness to it. However, I will say - if you love Belgains, you should DEFINITELY come here! Everyone I know who does like them really enjoys what they do here. We also tried the apple goat cheese pizza, which was really interesting and well done. Would gladly come back to try more - and hopefully get our hands on some of that Imperial IPA! read more
