The original installation came with a 10-year warranty, which was reduced to 5 years when we purchased the home. I understood that and had no issue with it. What I did expect, however, was that the company would actually stand behind its installation and provide reasonable customer service when there was a problem.
Unfortunately, that has not been my experience.
Within the first year of the installation, and after only one season of use, and with two months of owning the home, we started having AC issues. I called Cedillo's for service and was told they couldn't get to us for about a week. Because we were concerned about the problem and wanted some peace of mind, I called the HVAC company we had previously used and paid $200 for them to diagnose the issue. They confirmed there was a refrigerant leak in the lines and that the leak needed to be repaired and the system recharged.
Cedillo's eventually came out and repaired what they identified as the leak. However, we were also charged to recharge the system, despite the fact that the leak occurred within a year of the original installation and after very limited use of the equipment.
When I questioned why we were responsible for the recharge, I was told that "anything can cause a leak" and that it could have been caused by vibration. That explanation honestly made the situation even more frustrating. If vibration caused a newly installed line to develop a leak within the first year, that raises questions about the installation itself. Regardless of the exact cause, I have a hard time understanding why the customer should be paying to recharge a brand-new system when it lost its refrigerant because of a leak so soon after installation.
I could understand this being treated differently if we were talking about five, six, or seven years into the life of the system. But we're not. We're talking about a brand-new installation, less than a year old, that had only gone through one season of use.
We then gave the system some time to see if it would actually perform properly after the repair. A couple of weeks later, we were still having issues and the unit was not catching up as it should. We reached out to Cedillo's again by text and also called the company. We received no response.bno matter what. System struggles to keep at 78 or 77 even after running 24/7. That's just not ideal for new units that are supposed to be more efficient. one half of the house is great the other not. I have kids and seniors in the home.
That lack of follow-up is probably the most disappointing part of the entire experience.
I'm sure Cedillo's does quality work when everything is working properly and there is a paying customer standing in front of them. My concern is what happens when something goes wrong and they have to come back. Looking through other reviews, I'm certainly not the only person who seems to have had the impression that getting the company to come back and address an issue becomes a hassle.
To be clear, I understand that I am not the original purchaser of the HVAC systems. However, I purchased a home with brand-new equipment installed by Cedillo's. The warranty was reduced from 10 years to 5 years because of the change in ownership, and I accepted that. What I did not expect was a difference in the willingness to provide service or stand behind the installation.
A warranty is only as good as the company's willingness to honor it and respond when there is a problem.
At this point, I'll continue using Cedillo's while the equipment is under warranty because I don't have much choice, but I am extremely disappointed with the customer service, the lack of follow-up, and what feels like an unwillingness to stand behind their work. If you're considering using this company, I would strongly recommend asking exactly what happens if something goes wrong shortly after installation, and, more importantly, how willing they are to come back and make it right. We called again, gonna give them another chance but this is cool. No pun intended.
