I cannot say enough positive things about this establishment and their staff. What a class act…read moregroup of people, truly. My story is long and rather unfortunate, but the team at Olivera's helped make a bad situation a little more tolerable. Let me explain. I was on a joy ride from San Diego, where I live, all the way up to San Francisco to visit a buddy of mine who I never got to see. I own a 2014 Mini Cooper S Convertible, and it was a beautiful day for a long drive up the coast with the top down. But while passing through the cute little city of Buellton, my car suffered a catastrophic engine failure. I initially thought the alternator died, but that wasn't the case. After inspection at Olivera's, it turned out to be much worse. They (correctly) determined the coolant was somehow pouring directly into the engine and mixing with the oil. The dipstick looked like it had been dipped into a milkshake. Not good. But the car is secondary to the *actual* service I received from the staff at Olivera's. Cars can be fixed. This review is about hospitality. That said, I would fully trust these guys with my car. They've been doing this for many years and clearly know what they're talking about. All car owners worry about being lied to by their mechanic. At Olivera's, I do not see that ever being the case. These are genuinely nice people, and trust goes a long way here. I arrived just shy of closing time on a Friday evening, around 4:40 p.m. Seeing me come off of a tow truck, they immediately broke the tension with, "So, how's YOUR day going?" It put a little smile on my face. I explained the situation and that I would likely be stuck in Buellton for the weekend while the car was repaired. They immediately offered suggestions on where to stay and where to eat. No pressure, no rushing since it was closing time, no macho car talk. They simply heard my story and felt my pain. Bob, one of their mechanics, even offered me a ride to the Motel 6 down the road. That was Green Flag #1. I chose it based on their recommendation. Yes, it's a simple motel, but for my needs it was spot-on. They placed me in the least expensive and most centrally located place in town, with restaurants, parks, and a grocery store nearby, and still only about half a mile from the shop. That ended up being a huge deal because I would ultimately be stuck in Buellton for an entire week. On Monday when they inspected the car, Emmet, the owner, invited me down to see the diagnosis in person. I could immediately see the concern in his eyes and from the mechanic working on the car. They knew the news was bad and delivered it with genuine empathy. They were incredibly gentle with me, which meant a lot. Over the following days I had several phone calls with them and made a few visits to the shop. Each time felt more like visiting family than dealing with a repair shop. Mark, who has been there for years, was always great to chat with. Matt, the future owner, was a really good guy. Chu (I believe that's his name) was always supportive. None of them felt like "staff." This clearly felt like a family operation. Emmet has been an unbelievable support through the entire experience. Even as we shook hands goodbye, he offered to keep my car safely parked in his lot while I figured out transportation back to San Diego. I am writing this review from San Diego while my car still sits in his lot in Buellton. It's unsettling being five hours away from a dead car, but I feel completely safe knowing that it's in their hands. Let this review serve as a huge thank you to Olivera's, Emmet, and the entire staff. Everyone there was exceptional. And from watching other customers come in, it is clear that this is how they treat all people. They treat people like people, not numbers. It truly feels like a family. If you are anywhere near Buellton, I would not take my car anywhere else. EASY 5 stars from me. Not even a question.

I had just purchased new tires about two months earlier and had them balanced, so I suspected the shocks were the issue. I specifically asked the shop to return my old FOX shocks to me so I could have them rebuilt. The shop took photos of what seemed like every part of my truck, which gave me the impression they were doing a very thorough inspection. They replaced the rear shocks first and returned my old rear FOX shocks. After replacing the rear shocks, the shaking actually improved. When they replaced the front shocks, however, the problem became significantly worse. Throughout the day, they were texting me saying the truck was doing amazing and would be ready early. When I finally picked it up, I was told that it was normal for the truck to pull slightly to the right because of the new shocks, even though they had supposedly performed an alignment. After leaving the shop, the truck was pulling HARD to the right and the steering wheel was shaking worse than it had before I brought it in. The entire job cost me nearly $5,000, and the original problem was not only still there--it was worse. On top of that, they did not return my front FOX shocks, even though I specifically requested that all of my old shocks be returned so I could rebuild them. When I called about putting my old shocks back on and getting a refund because the problem had gotten worse, I was instead told that I needed to buy new tires. Again, these tires were only about two months old and had already been balanced. I left feeling like I paid nearly $5,000 and ended up with a truck that drove worse than when I brought it in, while also not receiving parts that I specifically asked to have returned. The amount of photos and the appearance of a thorough inspection initially gave me confidence, but based on my experience, that did not translate into good service or a properly diagnosed problem. I strongly recommend getting a second opinion and documenting everything before spending thousands of dollars here. My experience left me feeling extremely frustrated and taken advantage of. Also talking to the person in charge made me not want me to take it back.

I have always found the car-buying process to be stressful and unpleasant; however, this was the first time it was efficient, transparent, and genuinely enjoyable. Communication was clear and timely, expectations were set accurately, and there were no surprises. The level of trust and transparency she provided made the entire transaction straightforward and stress-free. I also utilized the dealership's complimentary vehicle delivery service, which was handled flawlessly. Unfortunately, I wasn't very happy with my experience at 101 Auto Shop in Buellton…read more I brought my vehicle in because it was overheating. They diagnosed the issue as a sensor or similar component, replaced it, and the bill was around $350. I assumed the overheating problem had been properly diagnosed and resolved. Not long afterward, I took the vehicle on a road trip out of town and it overheated again, leaving me stranded. After getting it looked at elsewhere, I was told the vehicle had cracked heads. Being out of town without a nearby machine shop made getting the vehicle--and myself--back home quite an ordeal. Obviously, mechanical problems can sometimes be difficult to diagnose, and I'm not a mechanic. But when a vehicle comes in specifically for overheating, I would have expected more extensive diagnostics, such as a compression or similar test, to rule out a serious engine problem before replacing a sensor and sending it back out. Had the underlying problem been caught initially, it could have saved me from getting stranded out of town and a whole lot of hassle. Based on my experience, I was disappointed with the diagnosis and wouldn't feel confident bringing a vehicle here again for a significant mechanical issue.

Recently the driver side rear wheel would get "too hot to touch" after driving at 65 mile per hour. We took the van to our local "go to" Ford fixer dealer. On 12 May 2022 the Service Department accepted our van; for them to find the reason for the problem and put the cost of that toward the actual repair. Since the van was there, we added an engine oil change and their multipoint inspection to the service order. After two days of not hearing anything, we called the Service Department and find that they decided that they could not work on our van because it was a camper; with tanks and things hanging off the bottom of the van. Nothing had been done. Not even the oil change. Words that we never expected to hear from our "can do" Ford dealer. As mentioned, this same van has had warrantee work and service performed over the past years at the local Vreeland Ford dealer and there was not word one about it being a camper; and that being a problem for them. And it was the same camper van that we brought to our local Vreeland Ford dealer to fix this time. This was a lonely feeling; Ford could not fix our Ford van. Fortunately, a local auto repair shop could. Valley Automotive, 1.3 road miles from Vreeland Ford, took apart our vehicle's suspect parts without any whining and gave us great explanations about what they found. They repaired our Econoline Van without one word about it being a camper; or that being a camper was a problem. It looks like Ford Service told us an untruth about the camper being a problem; or they did not know how to fix our Ford. Thank You Very Much Jim, Mark, and Paul - Chuck & Vickie Sorensen
