long standing customer here went in Standard oil change forgot to put oil in truck. Then lied about it when returned that truck burned 5 quarts of oil. Stop in to get a sense knocker replace. Had service light on and went to check it out with a machine that I had. It took me 2 minutes to fine out I needed a new sense knocker. Also went to a auto parts store, and they ran the test on the service light, which took them 39 seconds to tell me I need a sense knocker. Went to Advance Automative to get it fix, and they wanted to charge me $175.00 for a Diagnostic test that I already did in 40 seconds. Prices at this place are totally out of this world. Place is located in a rich area of people, and they just take advantage of this and charge WAY, WAY to much for the work they do. read more

Definitely the best auto service and repair I've ever found in 60+ years of owning. I have a diesel Mercedes with 350k miles and it was going down hill with other shops who were also ripping me off but thanks to Advanced it now runs like Swiss watch. I had stopped in Buellton for refill and food while headed to San Francisco. Started the car to go, and, alert message that on e of the low beams was burned out. Found Advanced Automotive online, went in, and though just half hour to closing time, a very nice mechanic was able to pop in the replacement bulb (I had tried for over an hour and another mechanic couldn't help) n a few minutes. I know it doesn't sound like much, but, it really was. In process of moving from Cape Cod to SF via LA stops. Car is loaded with personal possessions from the move. Without the fix, I would have had to spend the night, unload and then reload the car again. Very helpful, very polite. read more

I used to take my car to the Toyota dealership in Lompoc and when they changed owners decided to try somewhere else more reasonably priced. Every time I come in, the staff is so friendly and accommodating and the repairs have been 1/3 of the price the dealer has quoted me. I drive on rough roads with a lot of wear and tear and there are constantly little things I need cleaned or replaced and at advanced automotive I don't feel like it's a shake down! Just took in my 2011 BMW 328i. Was having issues with fan and it was time for an oil change. Car is at 58k and will be used by my 16yo daughter. So i asked them to look it over. They identified the source of a burning oil smell and were able to quickly take care of an issue that could have gotten much worse very quickly. I Had asked every other person changing the oil to look for issues and over 4 years no one identified the problem. John's team did. Glad i took it there and will take it there for as long as i own that car. Good professional service with trustworthiness and reliable care. Went in for water leak, ask them to check everything and replace any hoses or belts or radiator if needed. The check engine light came on while i was driving it in. I told them "this is a new car to me only had it a few weeks and wanted everything gone through and to check everything" They replaced a small water line, thermostat, changed oil, and flush radiator also had them flush and change transmission. $800 That was on Wed. Friday morning I noticed water under the car again 48 hours after they went through everything it is leaking again. John's response "It is the water pump, this is a different issue" To replace the water pump est $230 Part 109 Labor 90 ($180 regular price he discounted it $90) Coolant 20 (which he just put in 48 hours ago and he was going to charge me again.) How can this be a different issue, I went in for a water leak and said check everything, and within 48 hours my water pump goes out. Obliviously a water leak would involve the water pump. This shows me that they where not through, when I asked them to be. Now I have no faith in their judgement or workmanship I will not be going there and I am letting everyone know that they are expensive and incompetent read more

OMG!!! WARNING WARNING !!!! Talk about getting ripped off!!! They were recommended to me by someone ! I was desperate and dealing with my work van which I needed to get fixed ASAP turns out it was the transmission so they charged me $3000 which I readily paid without shopping around , it took a week to get it fixed then when I drove it away something was not right I couldn't accelerate and it sounded just terrible I was having to re cancel clients again because I couldn't drive it , I took it back to them ,had to be on a Monday because they are closed on Saturdays ( I had full weekend booked for work to make up for the week I was out of work waiting on the transmission ) they fixed it within a few minutes but it was THEIR fault they had knocked something or disturbed the signal transmission somehow while putting in the transmission , I lost a whole bunch of $$$ and work because of their mistake! Then a after getting my van back for the second time I notice the wheels shaking violently while I'm driving the 154 so I take it in again thinking it's something they had done wrong , turns out I needed two front break pads and alignment they came up with a whopping $750 quote which having not worked for 2 weeks almost now and spending all my savings on the transmission left me with my mouth on the floor , the girl at the desk kept trying to explain that it was a little high because of this and that reason ! I left almost in tears ! My husband told me to go next door to the Mexican place they checked my breaks and quoted me $350 HALF THE BLOODY PRICE!!! Then they showed me that my back break pads were completely gone and I needed to replace them too and the total for all 4 came to around $500 and something , still $200 LESS than what these guys had quoted me! God knows what they would have charged ontop of the $700 once they found I needed the back breaks done too ! SCREW U GUYS for taking advantage of a woman a hard working business owner ! I will tell the world how u tried to rip me off when I was down ! SHAME ON YOU!!! The receptionist was also very unpleasant I didn't like her attitude at all not friendly no customer service skills very bla-ze^ I want to give ZERO stars cause businesses like this deserve NO stars !! But I guess Yelp makes you post at least 1 UPDATE: to the businesses credit , the owner saw my post and called me personally to discuss his disappointment about my review, he wanted to express that the reason I was quoted such a high price was because he only uses quality parts etc so that customers won't have to come back in a year or so which would likely happen for the same thing if he used cheaper parts, I'm not an expert on part costs .. It did seem to make sense ... And I was very impressed he took the time to call me and explain this, ... Guess I won't know if my cheaper quote paid off or not for awhile to come...
