Had new horns installed and they fell off while driving in one day. Lost the horns. Had a clutch put in and in a week, the clutch wasn't working. Went to another shop and they said who put that clutch in. It was the wrong clutch for my truck. Had to buy a new one and was never reimbursed the money from Lunde. read more

I explained my situation and said I work in Santa Barbara Monday through Friday so I wouldn't be able to take my car in any other day. Unfortunately I had a very disappointed experience I have a jeep there for over two months, they call me to tell me that was ready for pickup i got the jeep drove two block and I have to bring it back to the shop nothing was fix for the contrary was running worse than when I dropped it off. I turn around when back to the shop and they told me to leave it! Month later I picked up nothing was done ! They claimed that was nothing wrong with the jeep ! Even my wife realized the jeep was running with 5 cylinders! On top of that they took half tank of gas from my jeep DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR THERE THEY HAVE To BE THE MOST INCOMPETENT MECHANIC THAT I EVEN CAME A CROSS USELESS ! read more

My car had broken down on Hwy 154 near Solvang ... I'm from Los Angeles so was looking to have to be towed all the way home... Dave Valencia from the US Forrest Service had stopped to help and suggested I give Duane and his shop a try... It was Good Friday Dave called and they were nice enough to get me in... The towing service was happy staying local and just taking me to Solvang! Within 2 hours the hose was replaced and I was back on the road to start my weekend. My wife are from San Jose and were on vacation in Santa Barbara. On our way home we stopped by Solvang. Our care started to misfire on our way to Solvang and the issue got worse and worse. We were about to either get a hotel in Solvang or get the car towed to San Jose, neither option was not ideal. I called Lunde's and even though they were stacked and that there were only two of them they took a look at our car. They fixed the problem in an hour and we were able to drive home. My experience here is limited to smog tests. I must say though that Mr. Lunde is most helpful in that he not only didn't take any money but explained very clearly in easy to understand terms why my car wasn't "ready" for a smog test. He then searched for and printed out a routine that would get my car "ready" for a smog test. Very helpful. read more

My power steering was starting to grind, I since I just had the Dealer flush the power steering fluid, I was suspicious that something else was wrong. I had no fluid leaking, the levels were correct. I took it to Lunde Solvang. I met Duane, he said they had a full schedule. When I explained that I had 500 miles to head back home, and what the car was doing he agreed to look at it. He asked if he could punch through the reservoir screen because new reservoirs were not readily available. He tested the car for 3/4 hours to make sure everything was good. He even text on Monday to make sure we got home okay. GREAT SERVICE. read more

We stopped in and the owner checked it immediately and topped it off and sent us on our way. It saved us 3 hours of driving to the spot the rental car company wanted to send us. My tire pressure indicator light flicked on early in the morning so I found this place on google maps and swung by. I pulled in and told someone the problem. Another guy came out, checked my tires and added some air. We asked if we needed to pay, he said no need, smiled and said "have a great trip!" Within five minutes our problem was fixed and we were back on the highway. That was really sweet and kind of him to help us out! We left in a great mood from his act of kindness. read more

5 stars. I called yesterday morning to ask if they would have time to smog our car. I was able to drop of my car and the immediately offered me a ride home. Keep in mind that I didn't have to ask for it. My vehicle was done in time and they left me a message on my phone as promised. Price wise the same as any other smog place would charge. I was visiting the area and had to leave in 2 days when I noticed a noise from the front end of my truck. I self diagnosed it to a wheel bearing or u joint at the wheel. I came to these guys based on reviews late Wed (4:30). They found the u joint problem, ordered the part, called me the next morning saying they could fit me in at 1. Great experience - passing through for a short hour visit on a busy Friday afternoon when I smelled and saw coolant all over the place. The owner looked at it right away and looked for a part. Then needed smog to register car and due to the car sitting Jeff advised I drive 100 miles to make sure it passed. Called Tuesday morning and got in at 10, smog completed and home by 10:45. I had my brakes fixed, 95000 inspection and oil change done for my Saturn and all I had to do is schedule appointment online and pick a time. I love how they have your history of repairs online for every car you own. I have 2 cars with over 200,000 miles on them and they still run great and Jeff never overcharges me like other shops would. Took my car in for a repair on the door. They'd been in Solvang a long time, so I trusted them when they quoted me half price of what the other dealer wanted. When I picked up the car, I noticed that the "door ajar" light was on. He said it would "go away". It didn't. The inside door panel wasn't put on correctly either. Flapping in the breeze. He said that somebody before him broke it. It wasn't like that at all when I took the car into them. The mechanic had a sheepish look on his face, the kind that kids get on their faces when they know they've done something wrong but won't admit it. He said to bring it back later and he would take the door off again and look at it (it was late in the afternoon and he wanted to go home.) Two months later and the door handle is really falling apart now. I called to tell them and Lunde himself told me I was a liar. His mechanic had remembered it and said that somebody else broke it. He said he didn't trust me. Trust me? I just wanted my door handle to work. He told me to go to the dealer and have it fixed. He refused to back up his work. NEVER use this auto repair shop. They are part of the problem why people don't trust auto mechanics! read more

I do not know much of anything about cars, so when my truck started making a terrible sound whenever I turned the wheel, they could have told me it was anything I would not have known the difference, but they said it was just a piece of plastic that came loose and was rubbing the tire. They didn't even charge me to take it off! Very polite also. read more

These guys are AMAZING!!! I was headed down to an RV resort in Buellton with my family and my truck started missing and losing power. As we were arriving at about 3:30 PM in Buellton, my wife started frantically calling mechanics in the area to try and find one open on Saturday. After about 6 calls, someone recommended Solvang Auto Repair. My wife called and spoke with Dwayne. He said he was closing in an hour, but told us he would stay a little late to see if parts are needed. Dwayne was very friendly and professional. He immediately had an idea of what the problem might be. I left the truck there crossing my fingers. A few hours later we get a text that the truck repairs are complete, and the bill was WAY less than I prepared myself for. What a relief, there is no way I would have made it up the Cuesta Grade with my truck and trailer if it wasn't for Solvang Auto. The next morning when I arrived to pick up the truck, I found that my truck was safely stored in the locked bay because he was concerned about what I had in the back of my truck. What service! Since moving to Solvang a couple years ago, I've begun driving on the beach regularly, which has opened up a world of interesting little problems for my 4x4 truck. I had been taking my truck to the Toyota factory, which was fine enough for normal maintenance, but they seemed to have no idea what was wrong with this constant rumbling sound near my right front tire. I took it to about 4 different maintenance visits, they tried a bunch of different things (rotate tires, align, etc.), but nothing really solved it. I had been to Lunde's once for a smog, and was happy with the service. So, I was next door getting my hair cut, and thought I'd at least ask them. Jeff, the owner, stopped what he was doing and got in the truck with me for a drive. Within 10 seconds, he's like, "It's the bearing." All that extra work and time at Toyota and they couldn't figure out what took him 10 seconds to diagnose. Shortly after that, I had to have some body work done on my fender, and when I was in with the body shop guys,I asked them if they had an idea what this squeaking sound was. The owner thought it might be something catalytic converter related, and told me to go to this other mechanic. I went there, was met by a guy who was nice enough but swore incessantly, and he told me it probably was the catalytic converter and I needed to schedule a bunch of time to not have the truck and prepare to part ways with $1,000 - $2,000. Since my previous experience was so good, I took it to Jeff for a second opinion. I pulled up, and he again stopped what he was doing to take a look at my truck. He got under it, and within about 30 seconds was replicating the squeaking sound. He's like, "Oh no, it's just the box that holds it" - or something to that degree. He fixed it right there on the spot, for a grand total of about 30 minutes of time and $30 if memory serves me correctly. From that point on, Lunde's has been my full-time mechanic for everything. As you probably have gathered, Jeff is a really nice, easygoing guy, as are his two co-workers. He's always got a moment to talk to you, and even though they always seem busy I always got an appointment very quickly. Coming from a big city, any sort of personal service is an improvement from your typical large dealership, but I can tell you that Lunde's is more than just your typical small town mechanic. They do VERY good work, offer very decent prices, and are simply the most HONEST and easy-to-talk-to mechanics I've ever dealt with. For example, there was a case where I was having a steering issue. It was a complicated problem that required a bit of narrowing down to find out what was really wrong. In other words, it wasn't an obvious problem; it was sort of "it has to be one of these three things" type of problem. So Jeff began work on the most likely of the three causes, but it ended up being something else. So, as any good person involved in customer service should do, he didn't charge me for the work he did on the initial diagnosis, and then immediately got to work to fix the problem properly, which he promptly did. I haven't know him long, and I basically only see him during mechanic visits (which, due to my beach driving, is more often that I'd prefer), but I can honestly say I feel I've made friends with Jeff and his crew already. They're just nice guys to talk to, and I couldn't recommend a mechanic more highly. Feel free to contact me directly if you want more info.
