WARNING: This company will exploit your grief if it means they can make an extra $100…read more I lost my cat, Maxius, to sudden and devastating health failure. She was more than a pet--she was my companion of over a decade. I spent her final days holding her, nursing her through pain, and watching her die in my arms. In the middle of that heartbreak, I thought I had submitted my 30-day notice to vacate my storage unit. I hadn't. I was grieving. I still vacated the unit exactly as planned--on time. And when I saw the extra charge being billed, I reached out about 10 days before the end of the month, explained what had happened, and asked for a little compassion. What did Cornerstone Storage do? They said, "The system won't let me." Then they added late fees. To a grieving customer. Who had already vacated. Who explained everything honestly. Who was literally holding her dying cat when the notice didn't get sent. Let that sink in. They had a chance to show humanity. They chose greed. They had every opportunity to act like people. Instead, they chose profit over basic decency. They knew I was in crisis. They saw that as an opening to pull more money out of me. And now they're punishing me for not paying a charge I never should have received in the first place. If this is how they treat someone in the middle of an emotional breakdown from the loss of their loved one, imagine how little they'll care about your situation. Your late fee. Your billing issue. Your loss. This is not customer service. This is predatory and disgusting. I wouldn't trust this company with a cardboard box--let alone anything that matters to you. If I could give zero stars I would. Cornerstone Storage, you should be ashamed.

**100 PERCENT INCREASE EVERY 4 MONTHS**…read more This is a one star because what they are doing is predatory and people need to know. if you have rented a storage unit in your life you know the price is locked in at least for a year. I've rented units and my price stayed the same for the Entire 4 years. During the booking of the space the lady asked how long we would need the unit for? We expressed possibly 3 to 4 years but maybe less, and not less than a year minimum. She suggest a different location further from our residence and said their price was 58 bucks per month. Only for them to turn around and raise the price 100%. We had 5 units with them while we are transitioning. The place is clean, the staff is nice, but find yourself a reliable place to park your things without suffering ridiculous increase every 4 months, which is what the staff stated unless you want to sell all your things. We paid thousands for movers to put everything in only to have to turn around and do it again. Trash business if you ask me.

I contacted them to inquire about switching up to a different unit, the only option was a 12X40 at 3 times the cost. I asked if any of the other Public Storage locations in Omaha had what i needed even an outdoor spot would work, and he told me there was nothing available. He then cancelled my unit without issueing a refund. I went online and started looking for what I needed today, and the website for these people says the location on 144th street has what i'm looking for, I drove out there to enquire, and was told they aren't renting any of these sites out. They would have gladly taken my money online though. This place needs to take the money they spend in SEO (search engine optimization) and spend it on actually updating what they have available, and hiring people with actual customer service skills. Would not recomend this company, what a sh@t show.

Two months later I found my unit had been broken into and most of my valuable items were stolen. The burglars were able to cut off my lock and go through every tote and box in my storage unit undetected. My unit was in a climate controlled building and found out later that both cameras in my building did not work. Other units were broken into as well. It has been three months now and the Insurance agent is trying everything in their power to not pay my claim. Burglars stole all my Christmas gifts that were brand new and I had to try to replace, all my products that I use for my job and items that were given to me after my mothers recent passing. This entire experience has been stressful beyond belief! Be careful if you store your things here and make sure you take video and photos of all your belongings in case of theft. I wish I had. I never thought that I would have to worry about theft in a gated place with cameras all over the place. Storage Mart insurance agents very difficult to work with and do not want to pay, but they sure collect your fee every month. D. Robinson
