Last fall, we rented a storage unit, for 2 weeks. The day prior to moving our items out, we were notified by StorageMart management notified us that our lock was cut. We were out of town and drove 8 hours to file a police report and figure out was stolen. Upon arrival and surveying the storage property, we found the location had numerous security concerns. So beware of StorageMart's false advertising on their website. Here is just a small sample of the deficiencies in their security practices. 1) The was one security camera , not monitored with alerting, that was 200 feet from our unit that was mounted low enough to the ground, to be tampered with, which it was. 2) Half of the property has no fencing. 3) Homeless camp 1/2 block away 3) The keypad at the entrance can be overridden by software and this is a known issue by StorageMart. 4) The site doesn't have an employee or manager onsite everyday. 5) They advertise that this location closes at 10pm every night, when that is not true as some tenants have 24 hour access and other tenants must be out by 10pm. These are just a few items that are to be aware of. Whoever broke into the unit, spent hours sifting through our belongings and taking only things that could be pawned or worn. They urinated on the items inside, left a shirt and their bolt cutters. There were other break-ins, two others according to Columbia PD, that week as well. The police were helpful, but there is only so much can be done. StorageMart could have remedied this by securing their facility by completely and appropriately installing 8' fencing with security wire. Installing security cameras that effective, cannot be tampered with, and has alerting & is monitored. If there are break-ins, hire private security to drive through the property to be a deterrent and help secure the property and the tenant's property. Read the contract, StorageMart has a number of lawyers that have created an ironclad contract that states they are not responsible for any liability in securing your belongings. That is why I would avoid renting storage from StorageMart. Oh, their insurance that they require you to take out is worthless as well. read more

My experience with Debbie in Jefferson City, MO has been amazing. She has been very helpful helping me set up the lease agreement for my daughter to store her dorm room over the summer. Debbie has amazing follow up, was very helpful when explaining a billing error and was quick to get it solved. During our phone calls she is always friendly and cheerful. My daughter visited the storage unit in Columbia, MO and it seems clean and ready for us to move her items into at the end of the school year. read more

The units are clean and easy to access which is why they got 1 star instead of zero. The staff are never there during the hours posted; however the staff will leave the open sign on which helps confuse customers. The staff do have a little sign on the door saying will be back with a clock which is extremely helpful..... forget about tying to reach them via phone as they have an national automated system in which messages are routed to the store. I am not sure how long this process takes but I am still waiting on a phone call from three weeks ago. I would suggest this place as a great place to store your belongings but if you need any help look elsewhere. read more

They had a bunch of scrap metal in their yard for months on end not nice to look at at all took them forever to clean it up

Excellent customer service! We arrived late on a very busy Saturday night after driving all day. There was no parking to be had for our trailer at our hotel...Jeff made it possible for us to drop the trailer at Storage Mart after office hours. He even took the time to come in to the office close to Midnight to finish up the paperwork. I can not say how much I appreciate the efforts taken by both Jim and Jeff save us both money and time. The facility was also neat, spacious, and well laid out. Highly recommended!!! read more

While our actual time in the unit was fine, the check out process was less mediocre. Our dad passed away and they were able to get us into a unit right away. A month later, we downsized to a smaller unit. Fortunately, my brother (the only local of the 3 kids) only paid month by month. We were all (3) back to clean out the unit earlier this month (about 10-11 months or so after initially renting it). We paid the full amount on the 1st. On the 4th, when we had the unit cleared out and clean, we asked for our prorated amount back. Damon, the front desk clerk, did not offer us any money back when we returned the keys. We had to ask for it. Then, he didn't know how to do it (which if fine, but he should be trained on what to me seems like a regular practice). He did call someone, but used condescending language (regarding us) while we were standing right there at the desk. Then he preceded to tell us he was giving us a "break" by only charging us $9/day (for units up to $75) vs. $11/day ($76 to whatever the next cut off was). Well, our unit was $75.99 (technically, between the two, so if you ask me they need to update their chart). He couldn't explain to us the charges, but rather beat around the bush. It wasn't until after a second call to this same someone, he showed us a chart/table (where the $9/day, $11/day, etc.) came from. While on the second phone call, he talked bad about us AGAIN, saying we were giving him a hard time etc. I don't remember the exact words he used, but I was stunned and immediately said something about us being right there and are you not trained in customer service. At this point, I was very frustrated and frankly, disappointed in the customer service I received. Unless he has since changed his attitude and become trained in all aspects of the daily storage unit transactions (as well as any other employees), I would not used this location again. We ended up paying around half of the month's rent for 4 days. It is quite ridiculous if you ask me! If there was an option to pay day-by-day, they didn't tell us, but I do know my brother (local one) did let them know when he paid on the first that we would be out on the 4th and NO ONE mentioned anything about just paying the 4 days vs the whole month! read more
