I asked her about mold, she told me they had not had issues as long as the items were packed in plastic and damp rid was placed in the unit. We arrived at the storage unit yesterday 8/26/2017 to find a hole in the ceiling, insolation coming through the hole laying on the stored items and most of the items despite being covered in plastic space bags and garbage bags covered in black mold. We had 2 sets of plastic drawers that had 2 inches of water in the bottom of both. We also had several damp rids in the unit, one was completely dry the other over flowing with water. The floor towards the back of the unit was soaking wet. I went into the office to speak with Sandy and yes I was upset, I was not yelling but asking about insurance for the ruined items, she kept saying why didn't you come tell me about this. I told her I am telling her right now as we live in Miami, she had a small child there and she tried to shut me down telling me that the office was her home and that her grandson was present, I reminded her that this office was also a business and if she had an issue she should remove the child to the tv room behind us so we could talk business. It became obvious to me quickly that I was waisting my time. So I left put my child's things in the back of our Tahoe and drove 10 minutes to the college. And spent the next 6 hours YES 6 hours cleaning items we could save and laundering the things we could save. Despite the items only being in the truck 10 minutes it left a mold smell we couldn't remove. We have a 10 hour drive back to Miami, within the first 30 minutes my sinuses are burning and itchy, my nose is starting to run. BAD BAD BUSINESS DO NOT USE THIS STORAGE FACILITY. I reserved a storage unit that wasn't actually available upon my arrival. This was obviously frustrating and stressful after packing/traveling. Christine and Mike could've easily been justified to blame it on the system, but instead they took ownership of the situation that was out of their control, did a little "Kansas City Shuffle," and made magic happen. The units are very nice and clean. They gave detailed instructions about entering and exiting the property to ensure no one could get past the gate, as they take security seriously as well. All this is to say - this is family run and it shows how much they care about the customers and facility.

With a lot of "sorry's" but it's more due to DROP OFF! Not IAW the internet and Customer service (phone). Totally "bait and switch" resulting in over $70.00 charges plus taxes and other fees. The hall where our unit is located is consistently kept clean, and, while we do need to replace our Damp Rid bags on a regular basis, we have had no instances of mold. There were two occasions of on-site problems: Once the a/c went out in our building and the other, the entrance/exit gates were not functioning; however, I felt very confident that Sandy had already begun the corrective action and was keeping on top of it to remedy them. I cannot give Cube Smart 5 stars, tho, because of its unexpected rate increases. During the time I have been a renter, they have not been slight increases that one could readily absorb into the budget; rather, they have proven that they can be quite steep. If you are considering renting based on a posted special rate and you'll be a short term renter, that should not impact you, but if you plan to rent on a long term basis, it may be a factor to keep in mind.

I set up auto pay and have been on time every month My last payment was $113, but has since gone up to $130. When I moved here my dad was dying of small cell lung carcinoma and has since passed so being very traumatic and chaotic of a year i forgot to update my phone and email with storage king which I will admit was my bad. Apparently last month when they went to run the card it said it was lost or stolen according to them (it wasn't and in fact they managed to charge the same lost/stolen card today on May 1st). They said they had tried to contact me several times, but i no longer have that phone or email. Fast forward today I have been charge for $327 for two months of storage. I called storage king, talked to some very nasty woman who was zero help and connected me with Jeff the manager who has ZERO empathy for his clients and when I explained the situation basically just told me too bad so sad, he can't reverse the late fees as they had tried contacting me. Not one ounce of understanding and as a business owner myself I find this incredibly disappointing. This company is shady, Jeff is a crook and once you have your stuff moved in they will continue to up the price for no real reason other then they know most people won't go through the hassle of moving. No one got back to me after that as they promised someone would except when I threatened to contact my credit card company and get the charge reversed but even then I was given a lame excuse and another promise that district manager would call me back after the weekend to do the refund. I waited til the close of business Tuesday but heard nothing so I reported it to my credit card and they thankfully refund the amount immediately. Now I'm just hoping that the place doesn't try to charge me again next month Or I'll have to report them for fraudulent activity because I have told 3-4 people on the phone/via email that I intended to cancel this storage unit!!!
