Even though I live thousands of miles away, they were able to guide me through the moveout process and even recommended a local mover who got the job done. Barb in the Handy Lock office was always incredibly helpful and responsive for any need large or small. I highly recommend Handy Lock and would have no hesitation using them again for any Pensacola Storage needs.

I left a glowing review previously somewhere, but don't see it, so I want to make sure others do. I…read morehad an issue upon move in due to U-haul's main site - not this individual location. I reserved a storage unit that wasn't actually available upon my arrival. This was obviously frustrating and stressful after packing/traveling. Christine and Mike could've easily been justified to blame it on the system, but instead they took ownership of the situation that was out of their control, did a little "Kansas City Shuffle," and made magic happen. The units are very nice and clean. They gave detailed instructions about entering and exiting the property to ensure no one could get past the gate, as they take security seriously as well. All this is to say - this is family run and it shows how much they care about the customers and facility.

I spent several hours on internet and on the phone checking and verifying rates and location (…read morepickup and drop off) around 5:30 to 9:00 am. I made the reservation and showed for pick up. At that time I was informed that the customer service quote for extra days (3) at $21.00 was now $34.00 per day. The internet Safe Tow Ins. was $34.00 plus $5.00 Safe Tow which also changed to $54.00. The quoted rental $128.00 which was then changed to $189.00. This is one hell of a way to do business. With a lot of "sorry's" but it's more due to DROP OFF! Not IAW the internet and Customer service (phone). Totally "bait and switch" resulting in over $70.00 charges plus taxes and other fees. Honestly....I have a HUGE problem with this facility. It seemed great at first....and I know I…read morecannot be the only one who has an issue with the happenenings at this storage facility. Reading all the good reviews that name the employees every single time are very suspicous am pretty sure they are mostly fake reviews. I rented here with the understanding that it was a clean new, secure building. It was a huge selling point that the facility had all these amazing features such as climate control, cameras, electronic locks, elevators ect. That was the reason we chose to rent here. A few months in I realize how bad it is. I kinda hate to say it...but it has to be said. It is directly across the street from the Alfred Washburn Center (St Vincent DePaul). There are homeless people EVERYWHERE. In the parking lot under the trees, camped out next to the exit gate & along the road you have to use to leave. The facility is NOT SECURE and is a joke. They pretend to have a security gate, but its left open 24/7. The doors to the building that you are supposed to need an access code to get in, just open up as you walk up to it. The "secured" bathrooms, that have a keypad to enter, have bent handles & are left ajar so you don't have to use a code to get in. There are units where the latch has been literally ripped/pryed out of the roll up door (and has been replaced in the past few days) We came across a puddle of urine in the main hallway (smell was obvious). Way down the other hallway, the motion activated lights were on & we heard people talking. There was not another single vehicle on the entire property at the time. We looked...leading us to believe that there were people who had slept in there, due to how early we were there. The motion lights were not activated between us & the end of the hallway (where the lights were on)...it was extremely dark. Then when going to try to use the OTHER restroom, we walked past a man who was OBVIOUSLY living in a unit. He had a bag in the aisleway right outside of the unit he was sitting in. Carrying on asking us if we saw the bag move....exclaiming that there was a demon in the bag. Seriously. Then he went back to freaking out that the bag was moving. So. What it comes down to is this storage facility is NOT SECURE, NOT CLEAN and is a major safety issue. People are allowed to enter/exit unchecked & have unlimited access to the units here. Taking advantage of the amenities that we as renters, pay for.

The hall where our unit is located is consistently kept clean, and, while we do need to replace our Damp Rid bags on a regular basis, we have had no instances of mold. There were two occasions of on-site problems: Once the a/c went out in our building and the other, the entrance/exit gates were not functioning; however, I felt very confident that Sandy had already begun the corrective action and was keeping on top of it to remedy them. I cannot give Cube Smart 5 stars, tho, because of its unexpected rate increases. During the time I have been a renter, they have not been slight increases that one could readily absorb into the budget; rather, they have proven that they can be quite steep. If you are considering renting based on a posted special rate and you'll be a short term renter, that should not impact you, but if you plan to rent on a long term basis, it may be a factor to keep in mind.
