I chose Firehouse Movers because of their glowing Google reviews, and their initial estimate was very competitive. Unfortunately, the final bill was a complete shock. To begin with, they insisted on a virtual estimate and refused to come out in person and assess the job. This was a 5000 sq ft home full of furniture, and I wanted the most accurate estimate possible. I asked multiple times for an in-person estimate, but my requests were declined. By moving day, I had sold two-bedroom sets and several other large pieces of furniture that were included in the original estimate. Even with significantly fewer items to move, the final price was more than double the original estimate. On the day of the move, I somehow went from needing two trucks, as stated in the estimate, to four. And from 9 to 17 total man hours. At the end of a long day, my husband just wanted them gone, so he reluctantly paid the bill before they could log anymore hours. When I called to discuss the bill, Firehouse claimed I had verbally approved the additional associated costs over the phone, citing a recording, which was completely false. I have asked multiple times for this recording, but I have not received it. That was not a small miscalculation. Our move was grossly underestimated. This whole experience felt misleading and dishonest. Stay away.

Storage units are no frills (concrete floor, no lighting) with a vertical lifting doors that accept a padlock. But it also doesn't cost much to rent a space (prices listed on their website), which is also good. The one con is trying to get my boat in and out. The parking spots are just inside the gate but the face storage units so the clearance to back in and pull out is limited. A 20' boat and a small SUV is doable, but not much beyond that.

I also pay a premium for electricity so I can maintain my batteries on my boat and this is the second time the electricity hasn't worked and this time it's been weeks without resolution. I call and leave messages and no one returns the calls, ever!!! This company sucks and they won't talk to their customers. It took 30 minutes to reach someone on the phone who also wouldn't let us leave unless my family member upgraded their plan to 24/7 access for $35 more per month. Our family member will now be switching to a different storage facility. It's completely unreasonable to hold people inside your facility unless someone's plan gets upgraded - even though I'm not even their customer!
