(Before we found Downey's in Sonoma, we were experiencing huge rent increases every few months from our storage company in Santa Rosa). Just be sure to store your items in resealable containers (NOT in cardboard) because these units are outside and Sonoma County has a problem with rats pretty much everywhere. Rats can squeeze into tiny places and love to chew up cardboard, paper & fabric. So keep your stuff in strong resealable containers to deter the critters. Obviously don't keep food in them either. A Bounce dryer sheet is a good deterrent in the corners of a unit. Plus Downey's have contracted with a pest control company for added protection. This is a little jewel of a family owned business & there are lots of long term rental customers here because they know a good thing when they find it!

Rat feces were all over everything. Literally 97% of our stuff was destroyed and had to be thrown away. This was a tiny 5X7 unit they charged $240 per month for! When we vacated we heard the screaming of a madman and saw and took photos of a homeless man LIVING INSIDE THE FACILITY near the office door so there's little chance management knew nothing about him. Now the guys from Charlie's were pricey, I mean double what the other place cost last time, but I had a considerable amount of fragile things I was moving, and every single thing made it in one piece, and after traveling in a trailer for 1100 miles, that's a feat.
