Even though Shawn primarily deals with people who are trying to quit smoking, he also is extremely helpful for those to get their mind clear. I visited Shawn two years ago when I was sick and tired of grinding my teeth while I slept. For five years I had been grinding my teeth, and even though the dentist told me this is a normal thing and to just get a mouth guard, I knew there was more I could do. After some research I reached out to Shawn to see if he could help. He explained that grinding your teeth while sleeping is due to your subconscious being restless and is called Bruxism. We scheduled two meetings where we talked through different techniques on how to calm my mind while I sleep and went through personalized meditations. I've purposely waited a month to write this review. I've been smoke free for 31 days now!!! My coworkers and I went together. All 3 of us are off the smokes 100%. Shawn has a very unique way about him. He talks with you first for about 2 hours and discusses your habit with you. The last hour he uses hypnosis and laser accupuncture to help you cope with the initial urges of quitting. Don't go to Shawn if you're not sure you want to quit. Also, make sure you listen to the cd if you do go; it really helps with the process. I haven't gained a pound, my energy levels are way up, and my friends and family are amazed that I have't had even a puff (even when drinking.) I have been smoking on and off for the best part of 18 years. I have tried numerous times to quit but its has always failed me. It wasn't until I started a family that the need to stop was all the more worthwhile, not just for my new family but also for my own well being. The advantages to quitting are there for all to see. Nevertheless, even without a family the need to quit was always there and that's what is very important. You need to want to quit for your own sake and not other peoples, and that is the key to success. My wife was one the who found the Stop Smoking Center in Wilmette, IL. I waited a while before calling Shawn Mossell, as you know, smokers hate change and hate the fact we have to give it all up! Once the call was made, Shawn Mossell immediately puts you at ease and works with you to get you to quit and come to the Stop Smoking Center. Once you arrive, you need to fill out some paperwork, which is normal. After that, its just you and Shawn and who ever else maybe there at the time. When I went, it was just myself and Shawn. We started talking about smoking, habits, why the need to stop and so on. Shawn, who is really passionate about his job and helping people quit, talks to you like a human being and someone who really understand the struggle. After getting to know each other and seriousness of quitting becomes evident. Shawn spends time with you doing breathing exercises while y our eyes are closed and Shawn is talking. You really need to have a clear and open mind. I was very skeptical at first but my thought was, I have nothing to lose and everything to gain. After your session, Shawn gives you a CD, this is an add on from your session. You need to listen to the CD as instructed by Shawn as it absolutely helps with the quitting process. I have been smoke free for 10months. January will be 1 year. I feel 100 times better, I breathe easier, I smell nicer, I taste my food, I am not tired after I climb stairs, or run, or play with my kids. I owe a lot to Shawn and his methods. While the business is named "Stop Smoking Center", I utilized Shawn's excellent skills & professional help in meditation. Often times I would feel anxious and not have a clear mind, and subsequently reached out to Shawn for some help. He is well-versed, with decades of experience, in meditation & hypnotherapy. Since meeting with Shawn, I have been calmer, more tranquil, and at peace with my inner-self. I would advise those not only with anxiety, but also those who want to better their mental & spiritual self! Each session with Shawn & meditation I perform on my own at home is geared for both progressive & continual growth. Back in 2008 I remember making a long detailed birthday wish. A main part of that wish was for me to quit smoking once and for all and FEEL like I'd never been a smoker before. (I had smoked ciggy's as Shawn called them for the better part of 30 years with one year break when I was pregnant.) I have "quit" with acupuncture in the past which interrupted my addiction effectively but each time, I obviously returned to smoking. In 2009 just before starting my new business, I went to see Shawn. He spent a couple hours with me talking and then proceeded with the light/laser. I quit smoking just to dabble with "ciggy's" a few months later. (My husband was also smoking) Just like the past, I overrode what I already knew to be true about smoking and my addiction to it and the dabbling of course lead to eventually smoking regularly again. After a few months of shame and closet smoking I went back to Shawn - this time with my mindset right! I didn't want to "try" I was going to STOP this ridiculous, disgusting habit once and for all - for real! He gave me another session (no additional charge) and I was all in. I had no severe withdrawals or flashes going through my mind telling me it was time for a smoke. I have never smoke another cigarette - ever. I FEEL as if I've never smoked. I mean there is no residual or occasional yearning or craving for any part of the smoking ritual. I called Shawn years ago, thanked him and encouraged him to get a better internet presence so he could help more people with his highly effective methods. I cannot recommend him enough. So I have quit nicotine addiction 3 times in my life, my most recent was this past December, 2015, and I can confidently say not one bit of my quitting can be attributed to Shawn. When asked to describe Shawn, words that come to mind include fraud and narcissistic. However, let me divulge into how our session went down so this doesn't sound like a slew of personal mudslinging. Shawn was very receptive to my post Christmas voicemail requesting an appointment. He was communicative via text and accommodated a last minute schedule change. When I arrived in his office and was taken to the room did he come off as truly bat sit crazy. He started off on a wild ramble about nonsense, incessantly drawing circles all over his paper, asking me to draw lines down and write out random statements that made no sense. At one point I stopped him to politely suggest that perhaps him listening to a little bit about my nicotine habit might help (to this point he had been on a non-stop talking spree about himself). As I told him a little bit about my nicotine addiction he continued his incessant circle drawing on his paper writing down from time to time abstract things I mentioned. I felt like I was in a movie, with an insane version of Robin Williams (RIP) playing a long winded joke on me. After he gave me 3 minutes to give my nicotine addiction background, he continued with his rampage. Something about how he left home in the 3rd grade to Texas and became some TM Meditation guru. Shortly after going to Switzerland to conquer his fear of heights and becoming some master skier. Then about meeting the founder of Tata India, and his wife taking him to meet mother Theresa. He then made statements that just didn't make sense. He mentioned there were 2 suicides on the metra tracks, one in Wilmette and one in Glenview where the deceased were on Chantix. I have yet to receive confirmation from anywhere that this was a true statement. I have heard of suicides and what not but this specific statement made me question the legitimacy of anything this guy was saying. Then he mentioned he too used to be a heavy nicotine addict using both cigarettes and dipping tobacco, the latter which then became some form of tobacco he would snort but didn't know what it was called (I highly doubt if you were a heavy snuff user you wouldn't know what it was called you were snorting into your nose). Anyways, long story short over the 2 hour yap about himself and other tangential stories that had mostly to do with the awesomeness of himself we finally got to the hypnosis, which I refused to let myself be hypnotized by him so I can't claim whether it worked or not and then he takes me to his cold laser machine which he tells me is 15 years old and is better than the new ones. Let me tell you something...lasers are one of the few things I can promise you have been made better over the last 15 years. Anyways, I could go on about the insanity of this experience. I would almost argue the $390 he charged was worth the pure comedy I got out of it, but quitting nicotine is a serious thing and this guy is as far removed from the seriousness of it as anyone I have ever met. If i had the time I would sue him for the $390 not because I need the $390 but just to make the point of how terrible of a practitioner this guy was. I remember a friend of mine, extremely smart, reports to the CEO of one the biggest tech company's in the world, believing in an Indian guru who was over 140 years old. I guess when you need to believe in something ( a guru, or someone who will help you quit smoking), you buy into the outrageous stories to help let yourself go to them. Its probably why very smart people with cancer end up in these overseas holistic hospitals...they're so desperate they'll try anything. I caution you in going to this guy. He will talk your ear off about himself, and then charge you to do a ton of things on your own that you didn't need to pay him for. Don't pay someone to tell you to take walks and breathe deeply. Don't pay someone to tell you to recite mantras. He wants you to download some tape of him talking but I can't think of this guy's voice without laughing hysterically yet so maybe soon I will. Here are some people who actually know what they're doing to help you quit nicotine. Nina Laveson...she's in Scottsdale but will Skype with you. She was very effective. Nicholas Steadman in Manhattan...an incredibly accurate acupuncturist well versed in nicotine withdrawal, and Carol Southard and Northwestern in Chicago...I haven't seen her but friends have. read more

I went to Shawn around two years ago because I wanted help to quit smoking. I can't explain how he did it but I have not smoked since that day. I now need some help with some other issues and I am looking forward to going back since I really think that he will be able to help me.
