Carol came and talked about all the benefits of massage - things I never knew about! I was definitely a person who has never been interested in massage therapy and knew nothing about it. She blew me away with her knowledge! Through my pregnancy when I started getting towards the end I learned that through all of my lifting and workouts I had made my body really tight and not necessarily prepared for childbirth. I quickly booked a massage at a local, corporate massage place and instantly regretted it. The person had no idea how to massage a pregnant person and was basically doing a typical massage on a pregnancy table. That's when I contacted Carol and set up an appt with her. From the moment I walked in I could tell this experience would be different. She has such a calm demeanor and instantly put me at ease. Her room is calming and smells wonderful! She knew all about different oils to use, pressure points and different massage techniques to do at different stages of pregnancy. I had done a lot of research on these things and she was talking about all of it before I mentioned a thing! She is very cutting-edge in her training, but that is backed with years of experience. I have never felt so confident in someone's expertise and ability in a long time. The massage itself was so relaxing and everything I needed at the time. I saw her a handful of times leading up to my pregnancy and she was awesome about fitting me in when I had time to come see her. It was honestly the best part of the last weeks of my pregnancy and I wish I had gone to her sooner. My body felt great, I felt more relaxed, my mental state was better, and it was just some great "me" time before the baby came. My fiancé and I are bodybuilders and have been coming here for a year. They are super sweet, and always ask if the pressure is ok and if I'm ok during the massage. I love that they often go over the same spot to loosen knots and improve circulation, especially with how hard we beat on our bodies, so a little soreness afterward is totally normal--kind of like after a good workout. This got frustrating after a while because I could hear everyone talking up front so it wasn't peaceful, I didn't know it would be this long of an ordeal (I assumed maybe 5 minutes max of this would happen to warm my muscles up) and I have a heating pad at home if I want 15+ minutes of sitting with it on. Knowing that I didn't want to go to a normal spa for a simple relaxation massage, I found Monica's Massage online and thought I'd give it a shot. I booked a 90 minute massage, assuming that the length would help. I told her my issues and headache problems and she told me that I should do a deep tissue massage and she went to work on me. The massage was deep, intense, and loosened me up amazingly. I had NO idea that I had knots in places on my upper back and shoulders. She told me that 90 minutes would be too long for this type of massage and we only did 50 minutes. It was *perfect.* The night of the massage I felt better than I had in weeks and was able to sleep through the night without waking with head pain. I plan to return to loosen up the rest of the knots and keep me in tip top shape. (Update October 2014) I have been headache free for months, and cannot recommend Monica's massage highly enough.
