Been going to Tony's for the past 10 years. Multiple older vehicles that require STAR testing. I've never had an issue passing any smog test. They are very quick getting your car in as a walk-in customer (no appointment necessary). Tony and staff are always very professional, helpful, and kind. I'm an excellent judge of character and I trust Tony 100%. I think any negative review here is sour grapes because their jalopies didn't pass. Beware, a competitor opened up in the same parking lot at the corner on the right side of the driveway into the plaza. This business clearly and unscrupulously copied Tony's signage. Anyone who can't be an original or at a minimum not steal others ideas is not to be trusted in my opinion. Make sure you go in the driveway and halfway down on the left is Tony's. Don't go to the other place. read more

To echo the sentiment of the previous reviewer, yes, if you fail the smog you will pay full price. But why wouldn't you? It's like if you pay for a drug test or pay for the SAT's and you fail the drug test or don't do well on the SAT; there's no refund. Now if your check engine light is on, Tony (the owner), won't smog it. He's actually a pretty decent guy and his secretary is also very nice. The shop itself has tons of reading material to help you with the wait, as well as some old school snack and soda machines. If you're referred to him by an auto shop, he knocks down the price, but if you come in off the street it's $55 to smog your car. Trucks will cost more. Ain't that the truth... read more

Stop N Smog Test Only - Smog Check Stations Near Me - Temecula, California

I wrote this on my phone last year but because Yelp didn't allow mobile posting back then I'm a bit behind in posting... We've taken our cars here every time we needed a check since moving back here in 2009. Haven't had any problems with service. You get $5 off for repeat business. Update May 2014: New name is called "Tony's Smog" read more

My second time visiting Tony's shop to smog the car. I can't thank Tony and his daughter enough. I called in during lunch time, I took my car to get smog and I was out less than 30 minutes as they said when I called in. They're great, and friendly. I highly recommend them to everyone. they are across the street from DMV. Besides doing a smog to the car, they also do registration and get your sticker immediately. Its great, I don't have to go to the DMV and wait in line. They have got it all there. Thank you again for the great staff and outstanding service. I will refer you to all my friends and family. read more

Tony's smog I've been going here for years. Same experience every time. Charming, honest, hard working, and efficient. Even when I had trouble passing they were always helpful, straightforward, and reasonable. Always happy with the service!! Thank you!! read more

Worst Service In My Life and I'm 43 and owned 15 cars in the last 27 years. I took my new beetle in for a simple smog check and was made to wait for 45 minutes, with my four year old, only to have the operator of smog services tell me that because my VW Beetle has an after-market radio, he will not test my car. He said If I wanted a smog check, I had to go put back the stock radio. I explained that it was broken and that is why I had to replace the radio and the stock radio is not sold nor made. There is no way to replace a stock radio. The operator of the smog on cars replied "that is not my problem. That radio could blow up my machine." Why is the smog check only station enforcing only stock products in VWs? Is VW paying him a kick back? The radio I had put in is nothing special. It only had a spot to plug in the iPod and it has an option for HD radio. There was no tricky special radio put into my car to cause someone to have a prejudice against an after market radio. There is no way what he did was legal. I was just discriminated against because I own a VW with non-stock radio. read more

First off: The new name of this place is Tony's smog! I had a great experience here. The place I initially intended on going to was closed unexpectedly when their hours indicated they were open. So I saw this place in the same lot and decided to give them a try when I found a coupon online. The woman working the front desk is very sweet and attentive and Tony got me in and out in under 15 minutes as a walk in, even with someone there before me. I had a great experience despite what others have said about the place. I will be going back here if I am still in the area when I need another test. Thanks :} And to the other reviewer blaming him for failing you after you had a dead battery-- if your battery disconnects or dies at all, all of the monitors reset and take time to become ready again to pass a smog test. It isn't his fault if that happens. You can always have a mechanic check it with a code reader and they can see if the monitors are ready for smog testing. And I'm willing to bet some mechanics would do it for free if they don't need to do anything more than plug in the reader. Just do your research before you complain about something you don't understand. read more

Highly recommend, fast, affordable and great customer service. Get your tags and smog, no need to make any lines at the DMV. Pay your tags there Thanks A+++++++ read more

I always start my car fixing with shopping around on line for reviews and prices. This place won the pricing but not my review background check (as you can see). I decided to go to another smog place that would price match with Stop N Smog, They on the other hand had outstanding yelp reviews! After waiting there for 30min to be told they don't have that equipment for my car. I decided to give this place a second chance. Within 15min I was in and out, the front desk girl was very kind and patient. The guy doing the smog was also very kind and eager to please every customer. Advice: If you have a check engine light on, you must get it fixed before getting a smog check! =] read more

I've been coming to Tony for years. Always courteous and efficient...and a better price than the place I used to go.

FOLLOW UP- after failing here and being told it "could be fixed" I called my mechanic. He directed me to a test only station he trusted- Advanced Smog. I went there and PASSED.... Seems I didn't need to fix anything. Gee.... What a shock. By the way, you shouldn't have family members post positive ratings. read more

This place is now called Tony's Smog. You know it is a good place when the owner answers the phone. Tony did everything he said he would and he was really fast. I was in and out in under 20 minutes. With the on-line coupon my cost for a smog out the door was only $38. This was the best price in all of Temecula. Go to Tony's Smog and you will not be disappointed. read more

Actually Nino, if your check engine light is on he will make you pay. Tony, the owner is not a decent guy. I am only 19 years old and haven't had the experience of dealing with people like this before and he knew that my car was going to fail smog before he even ran the test but still went on with the test even though the check engine light was on. I am a freshman in college, a full time student-athlete, without a job and they totally took advantage of me. Yes the secretary was nice, but the owner couldn't have cared less about me, the customer, because all they wanted was their money. My dad even called shop and was told that not making someone pay even though they knew their car was going to fail was a nicety and they would not run their shop on niceties. I will never recommend this shop to anyone. read more

Awesome service..tony the owner is straight to the point and fast..will be returning, girl in the front was very nice as well

this guy failed my friend because there was tape on one of the hoses, but did the emissions test anyway which was good. and charged 50 bucks for nothing. I took my truck there and he failed it for too much hydrocarbons. I paid the 50 bucks and went to murrieta pass or dont pay, it passed with flying colors. he said the guy didnt let it warm up. that prick will take you for everything he can. he doesnt care about you. save yourself the heartache take it to a pass or dont pay facility. read more

I have gone to tony for the last 6-8 years. Nothing but great service. He does not bs he tells it how it is.

Only reason I came here was because my dad recommended this place, and boy I wished he recommended somewhere else. This place doesn't even deserve one star and besides Tony is a crook! He dosent even know how to explain anything. One time, I asked him a question about my car, and he just mumbled like an idiot. Sorry but I am going elsewhere. read more

Tony has been performing Smog testing for my vehicles for over 15 years. He is very thorough with his work and is up front with the smog testing procedure beforehand, and not dishonest in any way as some reviewers may suggest. He is very pleasant and fairly priced as a owner operator. He receives my recommendation every time, and happy to see he is still in business at the same location across from DMV in Temecula. read more

beware! if you fail he will make you pay full price!!! they do not tell you this before your smog check

This business has very crooked practices. I took my truck in to be tested. The actual emissions test passed but the mechanic failed my truck because it had a torn intake hose. Why wasn't this noted before running the test? I've been taking vehicles to get tested in multiple states for over 20 years and every place does the visual inspection BEFORE running the smog test. This place did the visual after, forcing me to pay for the full test when they could have easily saved everyone time and money. When I asked him why he didn't look at everything first he just told me it wasn't "procedure". I don't know if they do it on purpose to rip off the unlucky customers or if they're just that ignorant to the fact that they could be saving themselves and customers a lot of time and money but I would NEVER recommend anyone go here. read more

Went to get my smog check, the first thing they did was a visual check. I FAILED the whole test because I had tape on my air intake hose, but I passes the emission test and function check, AND they made me pay the full price with no free retest. This place is RIDICULOUS!! They knew I was not going to pass as soon as they opened my hood but did the stupid test anyways. DO NOT GO HERE TO GET YOUR SMOG CHECKED!!!! whats even worse is they passed my brother even though he had the same problem. All they want to do is take your money, they DO NOT care about you, the owner is a crook! read more

The couple of times I been here, I never had to wait long. Their friendly people and I would recommend this place.

They went above and beyond! He even checked my tires and added air while I waited. Extremely courteous and very fast. I was there maybe 10-15 minutes! Will start bringing in all my cars that need a smog check. read more

Great service. 2nd time I have been here and in and out both times for a good price. They also have a comfortable sitting area until my vehicle was done. read more
