I wouldn't recommend this place. Came in for a smog check and dealt with a heavier-set guy with a beard who was extremely rude and clearly unhappy to be there. He was slamming things around including the pen he handed me and acted like helping customers was a burden. Also, the coupon they advertise is misleading. It doesn't include all the hidden fees. I ended up paying $42 for a basic smog check, which is way more than what other shops charge and without the attitude. It only takes 10-15mins total. They are licensed in the state of California meaning if you need a smog check to get your registration - they can do that. The place is clean and service is friendly. I called Smog Test Murrieta this morning and confirmed they could see me without an appointment. The gentleman on the phone said it would take 20-30 minutes. They had a coupon on their website (found thru Yelp app) for $31.75. Comparably priced to other businesses in the area. I chose to drive an extra 10 minutes to this place because of the 4.5 stars. Worth the drive. The guy was quick, professional, and even had the work done in about 10 minutes from the time I walked in the door. Great level of customer service and they even transmit the results directly to the DMV so all I have to do is jump online and pay the renewal fee. Efficient and great price and a one man operation! I live in Wildomar and the smog cost $20+ in my area. This location was about $40 out the door. I was expecting a long wait so I brought breakfast. They advertise one stop shop for smog test and vehicle registration. We drive over in a very bad construction traffic day for both services. The man working barely could give us more than short grunts. So incredibly rude! Zero customer service. AND false advertising as they no longer provide vehicle registration. Solid 4.5/5 stars-- I requested quotes on Yelp and received a very quick response from the owner. I liked the price, how prompt he was to respond, and the proximity of the location to my house. So I get off from work 30 min before they closed and asked to book an appointment. He said to just stop by whenever. Arrived at 4:30pm while one customer was paying/checking out and another customer waiting in front of me. Was told to come back tomorrow as he didn't want to stay after 5pm. Last time I checked, it takes no more than 10 minutes for a smog check. So with one other customer before me, he would have been done with both of us before 5. If there were more customers in front of me, that would make sense but there was only one customer ahead of me. Were you going to take 30 minutes to do a smog check? Makes no sense... If you have a policy of not accepting customers after a certain time then have a sign or put it on your Yelp so you don't waste other people's time they spent to drive to you. Left a bad taste in my mouth. Luckily, I went to the place on Jefferson down the street and was in and out in LESS than 10 minutes. I do recommend this business for it's fast and efficient service. It was also affordable, which is always a plus. For those reasons, I say- come here. My reasons for not giving the extra stars is because I parked and came in and was eager to get my service going- and the technician took another guy who was just sitting there in his car outside ahead of me even though I came in first... unless there he had already come in prior to my arrival (I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say he did). But the technician said NOTHING to me about it. Not even a "this customer checked in already so I will be helping him first." He just walked out to the other guy and left me there. And the other issue for me is that the wait area is just a BIG room with chairs lined against the wall facing each other... no TV, no music- nothing to break the awkward silence. I know we are all on our phones these days, but a little background noises would have been appreciated. (I fully believe the other customer was as weirded out by this as I was.) Went to have a used vehicle I purchased smogged so that I would be able to register it. The attendant came out and said that he could not complete the smog because of the new catalytic converter that the original owner had replaced. I was appreciative that he did not charge me, but he did not give me any insight as to why it could not be smogged. The only information he provided is that I had to go back to where the catalytic converter was purchased and have them check their "numbers". When asked for more details, he said he could not help me. I went t to another smog check place and they were not able to smog the vehicle either. They, on the other hand, gave me detailed information as to why the vehicle was not able to be smogged. They also provided me with paperwork stating what the issue was, why the catalytic converter was incorrect and what the correct part was. read more

Have had my car smog checked here twice and had good experiences. But I'll be taking my business elsewhere this time. They don't answer the phone and they never return a message so it's impossible to make an appointment. Today I arrived 30 minutes before closing time but was turned away and in a very unprofessional manner. The guy at the front desk didn't even have the courtesy of coming to the door, he basically told me to go away by gesturing cutting his throat with his hand. Wait, what? Smog Test Station not properly following California Bureau of Automotive Repair Smog Check Manual (https://www.bar.ca.gov/Resources#manuals-and-guides). Smog Tech would not pass my vehicle due to an "improper" gas cap for my 2008 Chevy Tahoe, which incorrect. My gas cap was indeed the proper non-OEM issued gas cap that populates in any automotive parts retailer parts check system. I went to O'Reilly and they provided me with the same type of cap for my year/make/model. Per page 27 of the California BAR 2017 Smog Check manual found on the (dca.ca.gov website) states that: vehicles newer than 1995 do not require a "Fuel Cap Integrity Test" (only vehicles between 1976-1995) and therefor does not require the "Visual inspection" as part of the two part "Fuel Cap Integrity Test". DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. A COMPLAINT HAS BEEN FILED WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS. read more
