Wow! This is the biggest supermarket I've ever shopped in. They have a huge selection of products, including products that aren't stocked at the normal sized Stop & Shop that I usually shop at. The aisles seemed wider & longer than at other stores. I'm impressed. It seems like the type of store that makes visiting for one item turn into a cart full of stuff that you "needed" far too easily, so be sure to bring a shopping list with you.

Watertown Super Stop&Shop -- 700 Pleasant Street, Watertown Interior

Ironically, there are 2 Stop&Shop locations in Watertown. This one straddles the Waltham city line along Pleasant Street in the far west section of the Town / City of Watertown (did they decide if it was a town or city yet?), and is probably (besides, my local, incredible Stop&Shop in Walpole) the largest Stop&Shop I've been to yet, that's anywhere even relatively close to the city (city stores always seem to be dreary and sad, and this one is always happy!). In addition, they have recently been remodeled to fit the new look of Stop&Shop and have such a great store! The store has 24 aisles, SCANNER GUNS, self checkout, amazing staff and a great variety of everything you'd need (besides a few of those Whole Foods or Wegmans only products). Suzanne is one of the people working in the front end area who is phenomenal. Not only is she friendly, kind and helpful, but she cares about customer satisfaction and actively keeps the lines to a minimum (lately, I have seen more and more front end managers not caring about when lines are going into the aisles!). Normally good prices on just about everything and the store is extremely clean and organized. I would be surprised if anyone found any expired foods or anything ringing up incorrectly (a commonality at some other grocery stores). Even though it's in Watertown, everyone who lives in the Newton / Waltham area should DEFINITELY either shop here or at the other Watertown location (literally, 3 minutes from here!). They are both great, and definitely two of the best grocery stores in the area. 5 stars for this S&S!

The rotisserie chicken salad at the deli counter is one of the best I have ever had, it's a must! Great on the stop and shop rye bread!

They import their olive oil from Greece. The ones I have had are fruity, slightly bitter, nutty, and slightly burns your throat when it goes down. Their homemade greek yogurt is so creamy and dense. It almost feels like you're are chewing on yogurt. Probably the best Greek yogurt I have had. I am also a fan of their meat pies; the crispy phyllo pastry and the well seasoned meat are addictive. The staff is always welcoming. They have helped me answer questions regarding which olive oil to buy. They have a lot of exotic meat, cheese (some even from Bulgaria), and grains selection. Honestly, I really like this place. Give them a visit.

The woman at the cash register justified the practice by saying the containers cost money. I will never return. Not taring the weight of the plastic container is doing the same thing as the butcher who puts his thumb on the scale when weighing your meat. Your large containers and covers weigh 4 ounces. At $3.99 / lb. for olives, you're charging an additional $1 per order for the container. If you should be charging more for your olives, then charge more, but don't put your automatic 4 ounce "thumb" on your scale to tack on that additional $1 from each customer. If you price your olives higher, people will see the price and decide whether to buy your product, or whether they should buy it from your competitor who charges more per pound but doesn't put their thumb on the scale. The woman I spoke with was an older woman at the register. I believe she identified herself as the owner. I assumed she was Sophia herself. I didn't ask for or remember her name. It's been over 15 years since I last stepped foot in your store. Don't worry about me returning. I posted only because you've opened a location near where I live now.
