I stopped in on Sunday morning for a few things. I couldn't reach something on a shelf, so I looked for someone who was putting out stock nearby, and he was so polite and helpful. After getting the item off the shelf for me, he asked if there was anything else I needed. I did self checkout and when I was finished, I realized one of the items didn't ring up at the price I thought. I went up to customer service to inquire, and the woman walked over to check the shelf price with me. It was my fault - I picked up an item that was not included in the sale. So I asked if I could switch my item, and she said of course. She walked me back to customer service, did the two price adjustments, all with a smile! I apologized since it was my fault, and she said it was fine - and she even thanked me! I was upstate for a few days visiting friends and across this go round the need for provisions came up for the nights dinner so off to Stop & Shop we went. This place is massive and appears to be sufficiently stocked with just about everything from dairy to meats to fish and assorted vegetables among the rest. Our mission was chicken wings, shrimp, veggies and some dairy products which were all easily found within moments of our arrival. It was early in the AM so not a large batch of customers yet. While there were plenty of cashiers we used the self checkout machines and since I have never had much ease with this in Walmart or Home Depot when I have tried them I was eager to see if the same experience would be found. It was not and we were done in minutes and on the way. I am told this is one of the largest of the grocery stores in the Newburgh area so if you are visiting also and need something, the chances are that you will find it here. Been here about 10 times after my training buddy put me on. I always find a great deal of frozen fruit and veggies which i use for post workout shakes and smoothies. The quality and price are very good. Its not as big as the Price chopper in Newburgh but it is cleaner and much more efficient that the Super Walmart or Shoprite in the area. There is a surprising amount of goods that aren't found in other grocery stores and I think the produce seems a a little fresher as well. The checkout is quick when you go to a lane and the self checkouts are pretty good too, they are all operational. Also there is a bakery and pharmacy on the premises. read more

stop and shop is the only grocery store in the area i do my big shopping at when im home. Inside is very clean the staff is super friendly. They carry boarshead cold cuts. they always have alot of fresh baked goods as well as breads. I usually buy alot of whole fruits from here for juicing. the pharmacy is great people are reall friendly and answer any questions you might have. I have been to nicer grocery stores in LA and down south but for the north east and in NY this is the best for the newburgh area. the parking lot is huge and you could park at S&S and then walk to the strip mall that is located to the right of the building there is a marshalls and a eb games and a EB games located there. I would recomend doing your shopping here. you will pay a bit more than price chopper and shoprite but for me its in a nicer area and for me thats worth the extra money PROS: -clean - Carry boars head -Huge parking lot -Walking distance to shopping read more

I'm not a fan of this supermarket though I have to say it's really nice inside. It just has this look & feel of elegance because shelves are neat, store kept really clean and the bakery department is just eye appealing. It's usually empty (at least when I go in) but I think it can be a bit pricey unless you target sale items. read more

I really like this store's bakery , deli & produce . Got catering supplied from all these departments and couldn't have been happier ! The graduation cake was absolutely beautiful, delicious & rich with custom picture and writing that was carefully crafted , our party guests were very impressed with the cake !! You can't ever go wrong with Stop & Shop fried chicken and their other hot bar offerings, they are known for their fried chicken . The veggie platter was tasty and no old vegetables used. That happened at some other store & I was so mad !! The staff at this store is really impressive , it's a team effort and you can tell the manager here does a great job because it is well staffed with nice people and the store looks great & the food is fresh . Hello, if anyone knows corporate contact for S&S please let me know I would like to write to them. For work purposes, I am situated near S&S in 2 locations (town of NB being one). I often am pressed for time and have to run to get food (or to shop) as other options are limited partic on v. short break time I have. Within a couple of weeks of working near this location, my whole body changed, I gained 6 pounds and my metabolism changed. Why? - BECAUSE THE WHOLE BLOODY STORE IS FILLED WITH NOTHING BUT JUNK. Unless you have oodles of time to peruse and carefully pick out the 1 or 2 things with all natural ingredients - everything is commercial artificial chemical GARBAGE - EVERYTHING. They also put these things within easy reach and super cheap - everything incentivizing and persuading ppl to pick these chemical rot that destroys themselves and their bodies. I picked up the 1 or 2 ready made food items that appeared to have a short list of all natural ingredients. I had that a few days running - little did I know, having read fine print, it said - THIS HAS BEEN MADE WITH GENETICALLY MODIFIED MATERIALS. My whole system changed; where I had normal system functioning every day (not to get personal but regular BMs, urinary relieving, etc.) ALL OF SUDDEN all of that stopped. Once I realized and started not buying ANYTHING from them and bringing own lunch, it took 2 days for my system to get back on track. As I work near S&S in 2 different locations, I've seen the people come out. You've never seen anything like it - about 40% of people coming out MORBIDLY SICKENINGLY OBESE with GMO misshapen bodies the like of which mankind has never seen, and I've watched the carts - filled up with literal artificial chemical poison and of course now GMO chemical experiement junk that they've snuck into everything. Even meats looks suspect, I checked out the fish and salmon - suprisingLY cheap b/c farmed fish (where they are crowded together in tanks in their own feces) and not wild caught, all offered v. enticingly cheap for people to buy and be poisoned. I've been watching this for a while and am appalled at the aisles of literal chemical junk at S&S - are people blind? Can they not see what is being done to them and how there is a concentrated conspiracy from the world higher up elites to destroy population in numerous ways - food (one of obviously the most vital) being one of them. THIS NEEDS TO BE STOPPED PRONTO - DO NOT BUY THE JUNK THEY HAVE ON OFFER, I WON'T EVEN GO INTO THEIR BAKERY CAKES AND BAKED GOODS INGREDIENT LIST OF CHEMICAL CONCOTIONS A MILE LONG). Don't buy, shop carefully, ONLY BUY WHAT SAYS NON-GMO ORGANIC WITH THE BUTTERFLY AND NON-GMO SIGN. Organic best but if you can't get that, buy produce that starts with "4" number, "8" is GMO", "9" is organic. If you walk through S&S it's just aisles and ailes and aisles of commercial chemical JUNK and these supermarkets are the ones being placed in all these small towns, hamlets, areas all over the world so that all the corresponding populations are overweight with a myriad of crippling and horrific health problems, mainly from diet but also from air (chemtrails), water (fluoride and other toxins) and of course we won't even go into the current situation with v's. Please READ ALL LABELS, do not buy anything with a paragraph of chemical laundry list, buy organic non-gmo everything if possible and do not cater to the poisons they are selling - SIMPLY DO NOT BUY IT. The fact that they say they want you to have a hassle free shopping experience does not really mean that it is true. Always check your receipts, oftentimes they do not reflect the sale price, or the price listed on the shelves. That being said, if you self scan, you will get audited and your groceries will get smashed. This is to make sure you have not stolen. It does not reflect if S&S has stolen from you by not counting the sales price. Same for coupons, if the picture shows it in blue and you have chosen red there is a woman who will disallow it like you were stealing from her. Go to customer service for a refund and the dude just hands you a random amount of change. Complain to a "manager" they just back their people and walk away. This store may just be run by the rudest people on the planet! read more

Since I moved to Newburgh I have been shopping at Stop $ Stop until I once went into a Hannaford Brothers. Cleanliness is a must in any business but especially in a business that sells FOOD. Unfortunately Stop & Shop is no where near where they should be in this area! I've read some reviews that say how clean the store is and I am very surprised to say the least. As you come into the store where the shopping carts are it is disgusting. I have even walked out once because of this. I brought it to the Managers attention and all he said was, "We are short handed"... In fact one time there were "ZERO CARTS" available to do your shopping. That's right "ZERO". I have never seen this before in my life. Again I walked out. I now drive to Hannaford brothers at 5 Connors (Extra 10 mile trip) to shop.. The best Super Market I have ever shopped at. You can literally eat off the floors it's so clean! And the "MEAT" is exceptional as is the Produce, Bread and Sweets.. Think I'm exaggerating, Just go there and see... The Butchers there do everything but cooked the meat for you. Very, very helpful as to what each cut of meat is best for whatever occasion you are buying for and also how to cook it.. I would suggest very strongly that the management team at Stop & Shop take a little field trip to Hannaford's and take notes while your there. Enough about them. A great business starts at the TOP. The people who manage this store need to instill in it's employees a sense of "PRIDE". If the managers don't have it then neither will the people on the floor. People need direction. There are some wonderful people who work at this store but there are too many who seem to hate their job and are only there to get a paycheck.. This shows as you do your shopping... Sorry for getting on a tangent but maybe my feedback will help a little. If people disagree then I guess they have never shopped at a Hannaford's !!!! Check it out!!! read more

My issues involve two item in two days. I shopped there on Tuesday 08/17. I purchased the corn version of the Thomas English muffin. There were tags all over the end cap offering "buy 1 get 1 free"- no disclaimer on type. I got to the checkout and was told that the corn brand was not included. It scanned at full price? I I assumed I may have made a mistake? I went in again today. I purchased the Perdue boneless chicken breast- that had a sale stand being held down by the product- and when I got to the checkout it scanned at the wrong price again. Twice in two days? I was not happy. I asked for a manager. I was met by Mike. I explained my concerns to him. We walked back to look at the items in question. He defended your advertising and did acknowledge the fact the cashier should have adjusted the price. Although a bit late, since I did not purchase the products that I had intended to buy? I have been a loyal Price Chopper customer for almost 20 years. I recently switched because of the fuel rewards program, and the re-branding of a local gas station. After these events I am left questioning the credibility of Stop and Shop and their deceptive pricing practices? I may have to return to Price Chopper, where I never encountered these issues. You manager could have done much more to recover my business, and refrain from defending poor advertising practices? Update: I called the corporate office for Stop and Shop. Again, the representative that I spoke with defended their poor advertising practices!? This time with an attitude! She informed me that I should have had a weekly flyer in hand to refer to so that I clearly understood what was on sale and what was not? Really!!!??? No more@ I am switching back to Price Chopper/Market 32. This place cant even spell good customer service...let alone great! read more

I have to say the thing that stands out the most is the staff. I have never seen such a consistently friendly polite and helpful staff! while they can be a bit pricey, I would rather shop here, then somewhere that the staff acts like its killing them to help you. One star for the bakery. I have purchased all of my children's cakes from this stop and shop and have always been satisfied. The cake I picked up yesterday was laughable. I asked for simple decorations, White frosting with a black border on the bottom and NO border on top. Simple right? Pick up the cake and imagine my surprise when I was given a cake with black border on top and on the bottom with PINK icing (airbrushed when I specifically asked for real frosting) around the sides. When I went to pick it up there was no one in the bakery at 4:30 pm on a Friday! They had to page someone twice and the nicest woman left her register to come help me. After being charged full price for an incorrectly decorated cake (decorated with two lines of frosting) I will never go back. I couldn't complain because the rude bakery manager wasn't there nor his male staff member that wouldn't listen and "knew" what to do. Too bad. Definitely a new and very disappointing experience. I will still grocery shop there though. The rest of the team are aces. read more
