To Whom It May Concern, Today, I experienced an incident at your store that left me deeply disappointed and disrespected. While shopping, I noticed two employees at self-checkout focus their attention entirely on me. Despite having only eight items--far fewer than others checking out--I was watched, followed, and made to feel as though I was doing something wrong simply by existing in that space. What should have been a simple shopping trip turned into a display of implicit bias and profiling. I was attempting to complete two separate transactions, a normal process that seemed to suddenly become a problem for your staff. The unnecessary remarks, the hovering presence, and the invasive scrutiny were both unprofessional and unsettling. When I addressed the issue directly--pointing out that not every individual of my ethnic group behaves the same way--it appeared to baffle one of your employees. Rather than reflect on my words, she attempted to correct me, further exposing her own assumptions. I reminded her that making assumptions without evidence is the root of bias, and that following and observing someone based solely on perception or stereotype is unacceptable. What made the situation more disturbing was the contrast: multiple white customers with overflowing carts stood unbothered in the "13 items or fewer" section, yet I, with my eight items, became the focus of scrutiny. This is not a coincidence--it's a pattern that many people of color recognize all too well. No one should be made to feel criminalized for existing. No one should be treated like a suspect for simply trying to make a purchase. The entitlement to stand behind a customer, to invade their personal space, and to assume authority over them reflects a deeper, systemic problem that goes beyond customer service--it reveals unconscious prejudice at work. I will not be returning to this location, nor will I spend my money where basic respect is not extended equally to every customer. However, I hope this serves as a wake-up call. This type of conduct does not just harm the person it targets--it harms your brand, your integrity, and the humanity we are all supposed to share. Discrimination--whether conscious or subconscious--has no place in your store, your staff, or any environment that serves the public. Currently the best place to get sushi in Middletown is ShopRite. The MASSIVE catch is; you have to get it on Wednesdays and they have to be in a black container with some red and gold swirls. That guarantees the best freshness and quality in town. Anything served in a blue wave pattern container is either overpriced, ridiculously small pieces; or both! Middletown's Hannaford isn't as good as the black container sushi; but is definitely better than the blue container sushi. Strangely yet sadly enough; to my knowledge the best sushi in the general area is Pine Bush's Hannaford. Theirs tastes the freshest and has the most variety. Another significant problem I experienced the last few times I stopped there was that I didn't feel safe. The isles felt claustrophobic and there were angry moms yelling at their little children. I swear, from the moment set foot in there something about the rest of the clientele made me feel like I was surrounded by MAGA (Trump's cult) and obviously, when they're around; no one is safe; not even themselves. read more

Loads of selection of foods. The ambiance of the store was great makes you want to shop. Service was quick and friendly workers there.

I purchased pet fresh product for $6.49 and accidentally missed placing in my grocery bag because it rolled under a panel that should not be there in the first place. I got home and called customer service. I could not hear the person speaking at all, just bagging, other customers just noisy and loud which made it impossible to ask a question. I went back the next day and they looked in a red note book and said no pet fresh was recovered at register #71. I spend $100 dollars a week but no more at ShopRite. Unbelievable read more

This ShopRite is much more organized and pretty much fully stocked with meats, fruits, vegetables, cereals, anything I need every time I go here rather than the Dolson Ave shoprite. It's cleaner, and I believe has more checkout people. The parking lot is even much nicer and easier to get in and out of as well. I wish Dolson was like this shoprite!! read more

I would not give them a start it wasn't a star wasn't required. Shoprite is selling old food you have to pay attention in their store. On more than one occasion I bought food and it had mold on it. Mold on frozen is amazingly hard and shoprite it succeeding at it. Today is the March 17 2022 and the label say sell by March 4th 2022 and it still in their freezer. read more

This is by far, the best ShopRite I have been to. Everything is so well organized, the staff is super helpful and professional from what I have seen and the shelves are fully stocked. The store is very clean and organized, whether we're talking about where the butcher cuts their meat or in the seafood department or in the deli or just the whole store in general. Today, they had people standing with samples of deli meat. Other ShopRites do not do that!!! I LOVE sampling food while I'm shopping!! Lol who doesn't? I like the way the produce section, the deli section, the meat section, and the seafood section are laid out. It seems convenient and well thought out. I would rather go to this ShopRite than any other ShopRite around. I will certainly be back and I recommend this location over all others!! read more

I shop in the Hackensack,NJ store even though I live in New York City. I lived in Little Ferry,NJ for 23 years, and that was my favorite grocery store. The store is very clean, the staff always try to help you. The cashiers are very patient. I have a movement disorder and get dizzy sometimes. I have to take my time putting groceries on the counter. Every cashier I have used, have been kind and let me take my time. The groceries in my neighborhood, are very expensive. In NJ the ShopRite I frequent, have good prices. The vegetables and fruits always look good and taste good. The meat is of good quality. It is like that with every department. The manager of the store should get an A+. Pat Gloster read more
