I never thought I would write a review on a grocery store, But I have noticed of late the huge difference in customer service at the Seafood counters. Especially at the seafood The other large store in town, which we used to go to for perceived "better" product, is in fact the same on product and maybe even pricer. But what matters to us is service. and today, I ran into the store and asked for swordfish, and the young man ( Devon) was SUPER!. He took the time to ask what I needed, saw what was in the case was not the right in terms of size and offered to cut me what I needed. Wow! Came home and I told my wife, who tells me she always goes there to get salmon and the folks always help her to get the right product, size and cut. That does not happen at the other place, at least not with a smile! Thumbs up! I have noticed an improved level of customer friendliness and service thought the store. read more

This Stop & Shop location is terribly mismanaged. I have found expired food on the shelves and the store is just dirty. I'm so happy that there's another grocery store that's opened in town even though it's much further for me to drive worth it to get quality products and good customer service. read more

Just last month makes supposedly raising money for baseball were severely inbriated, yelled at elderly person, while their feral kids were running everywhere. I DO NOT WANT TO WALK PAST THIS, NOR DO I WANT TO BE APPROACHED BY KIDS, STONERS, BEGGING FOR MONEY! This is a joke! Do you remember when employees strikes? Harassing customers? It went on for weeks. Due to physical challenges could not go to a different store. What they to customers was violent bullying. I never forgot the odor of rotting produce because hardly anybody was going in. Then the pick up debacle came later. Things always out of stock, charged for it credit never given. Happened just a few weeks ago. Cancelled order, refund never given. Had to go without food and finally go in person to DEMAND refund. Then the bakery scam. Ridiculous price for cake without a middle. Was not a Bundt but they cleverly concealed missing center of cake with large stickers. Enough. The minute whole foods opened never stepped foot in stop and shop again. I order all of my special event cakes from Stop & Shop Cheshire and they have one of the best bakeries around. The staff is always pleasant and helpful. I call a few days ahead to place the order and its always ready on the day that I arrive and beautifully decorated. I also enjoy shopping at this store in general because it has everything that I need. Stop & Shop has a great rewards program too. read more

Pharmacy is a joke. I went to pick up my prescription after they called and told me it was ready. They said they never got the refill and for me to wait 15 mins for them to refill. After waiting 45 minutes a store manager began staring at me and after 5 mins of staring came over and asked what I was doing. I explained I was waiting for a refill which he didn't understand (apparently he thought i enjoyed standing in stop and shop for 45 mins). Turns out Gail Aldrich who works in the pharmacy asked for someone to come see what I was doing, instead of acting like an adult and asking her coworker who I spoke to, or ask me directly if i needed anything. Thank you Gail Aldrich for telling me to wait then accusing me of "hanging around" the pharmacy. Gail Aldrich your a 65 year old woman so I understand you're forgetful but act like an adult and ask if I needed help rather then treat people as though they did something wrong read more

I was just at the stop and shop in Cheshire getting a couple things I needed before the Fourth of July. While I was at self check out my keys accidentally fell behind the register. These three really nice co workers helped me so much with getting them out and they were very nice and friendly (especially since I was so embarrassed that happened). I forgot to look at their names but one was a woman with brown hair and black eyeliner, another was a young man with glasses and another was an older woman and they were all very helpful. read more

My go to Stop & Shop! I shop here for my weekly groceries and sometimes more! I like this location because it's always clean and I feel like it is a safe place to go shopping with my girlfriend. I like that it is super close to home and that I can drive by it on my way home from work. They have some good international ingredients that I have had difficulty finding (most recently tahini). Be sure to shop the sales and you can make out okay! If you like the store to yourself, try a late night run! read more

I find Stop and Shop as a whole to be overpriced. This store takes it to a new level. I almost think everything is full retail. Based on that alone, you'd be better off to shop down the road or outside of Cheshire. It's a big store and can be a drag to navigate. I've been here a number of times, but still find the layout confusing. I also don't like the look and feel of the store. It feels very sterile and cold. But they do stock a lot of items, I have to give credit for that. It seems that unless I'm here early in the morning to grab something quick, there's always a line. And during busy times, not enough registers open. If I manage to get what I need quickly, I'll surely get hung up at checkout; never fails. I'll come here if I need something quick, or my wife needs a specialty ingredient for a meal. Otherwise, I go elsewhere. read more

Do customers adhere to the rule of one person shopping? NO! Are all employees masked, especially during senior hours? NO! Do young people sneak in during senior hours? YES! Very unhappy with how I was treated tonight with my family at the self check out. The employee named Ryan that was working there came over because we were having trouble scanning our "scan as you shop" tool. He came over and said he had to audit our order. Never in my life has this happened to me. I did tell him as soon as he came over before telling us he had to "audit" our order that we have 1 bag set aside that we didn't scan and that we were going to scan when we came to the register. We had 2 kids one of which was screaming during the shopping trip. This is why we were more concerned about our kids then the groceries so we brought them upfront to scan. He then proceeded to tell us he needed a supervisor to cancel our scan it took so we could use our stop and shop savings card. As he can clearly hear of children losing there patients he slowly took his time so we went to another self check out line. Then proceeded to make us completely uncomfortable and hover over us as we are checking out as we were apparently going to steal avocados in his eyes. We are NOT those kind of people. He then followed us to the door as we left. I am completely shocked at what happened tonight for no reason. Making my wife, myself and our 2 young kids feel so uncomfortable. We do know people higher up in the corporate world of stop and shop and they will for sure be hearing about this. read more

Purchased a package of boneless skinless pork chops Natures Promise Brand I come home open the pack place the four individual packs in the freezer take one out a few day later and defrost it and it smells rotten I check another one and the same thing I called the store and explained and was told because I dont have the original bag with the bar code they cant help THANKS FOR THE UNDERESTANDING Cheshire Stop&Shop.I dont care if stop&shop was next door to me I will NEVER shop there again they DO NOT STAND BEHIND WHAT THEY SELL.My hard earned money right in the grabage read more

Attempted to check out using a self check station. It constantly refused items. Even placing my empty bag in the bagging area caused it to have a problem. There was only one employee trying to monitor what seemed to be at least 10 stations and it was utter craziness. Having successfully checked my own groceries and items at many other stores such as Walmart, Shop-Rite, Home Depot, etc. I have never come across such a difficult checkout experience ever. I spoke with the manager who suggested I simply did not know what I was doing and never even offered an apology for being grossly understaffed. I will no longer patronize this store. read more

This stop and shop is as good as it gets. The floral department was in a nice kiosk like area near the door instead of one of those tucked away areas that looks like the store didn't know what to do with it. The registers were loaded with cashiers and baggers (about 8 at 3pm on a Friday). The food was neatly loaded on the shelf and the staff seemed very friendly. Clientele was a bit nasty and kept blocking the aisles with their carts as if no one else was going to stroll by but hey that happens, not the company's fault. Prices were great. The natural section felt more distinguished too. It was tucked away in the corner like all stop and shops, but it had a nice big sign over it making it feel like it was part of a store and not just a gimmick to get people in. Only downside is that the gas station is located about half a mile up the road. I would definitely come back to this location. read more

Place was easy to find . Parking was plentiful. Prices were a little high. Good selection of fruits and breads. Cashiers were friendly

(Cheshire S & S) I ordered a cake for my daughter online and when I got to the counter the girl working there (red hair, overweight) was very snotty to me. And after all the $$ I spend at Stop & Shop every year, I expect at least some professional politeness!! Then I went to cash out and the boy at the register was wonderful. I am not a huge fan of any S&S due to the fact that their prices are outrageous. I feel like they rob you at any chance they get. Regardless of this, I am not to happy with their recent renovations to the store, I fee llike everything is thrown all over the store. The self scanners sometimes do not work. If it wasn't for a former classmate who still works here who I go there to say hello to, I wouldn't go here. They do have 2 redbox machines....if that counts for anything LOL. read more

This is the second time I am absolutely disgusted by seafood from the seafood department at the Cheshire, CT Stop and Shop! The first time were scallops on sale for 14.99 with a usual price of 21.99. When we got home and cooked them they smelled of amonia. Clearly too late to take them back. Fast forward to today with the crab legs at 9.99 per lb. with the same nasty amonia smell!! I did not realize that sale meant decomposition. I realize that this is seafood from a grocery store......but come on Stop and Shop!!!! read more

The 2 stars is ONLY for the bottle return area... I went there a few days ago with a good amount of bottle returns... I went in there and it was really small. I even pulled my cart over to the side and another lady in there rolled her eyes at me and gave a loud sigh... they only have 1 glass machine 2 can machines and 2 bottle machines. One of the can machines was completely broken and the other was being used by a lady with 3 bags of cans. So I used the glass one and then a guy came in waiting about 10 mins for me to finish which I tried to hurry up. Then they were getting jammed. No one could move in there and I felt extremely rushed and pressured to hurry up. The guy working the bottle room at the time was really nice. He wa doing the carts as well and was trying to take care of everything he can. Other than that this is a very crammed bottle area and I felt uncomfortable. I love Stop & Shop. They have great deals (that's how I decide what to make for dinner each week), and most of the personnel there is great. It helps that they are close by so everything hasn't melted before I get home on days like we have been having lately. read more

The only issue I see is the out dated products or completely missing items. the method i'm told the store uses is items are replaced based on the sold number at the registers. The system is automated and when items are removed for out of date issues the store manager gets a ding on his review so the items are just thrown away and not recorded. Well guess what, the automated system never shows items out of stock so they are not replaced. the other thing an employees said is they are told to just put the out dated product in front and not to remove them so they don't get another deduction on the manages total. Stop and Shop should drop the automated system and send someone around checking and doing the ordering. read more

a pretty good S&S, has that red box for videos, those nifty scanners you use while you shop, pretty good size 'health food' section, lots of check out lines and friendly staff. parking lot is ok, the exit from the lot is a little weird with some one way roads leading into the lot. anyways, if you need groceries or a quick lunch this is an OK stop and shop. read more

They've got a great team in Cheshire, and I've never felt less than welcome and well taken care of. Really really rude manager don't know her name but she's older blonde hair with glasses she wears kinda low on her nose. Never had a problem there until I had to deal with her the other night. Something was priced wrong and she insisted I was wrong. She had the self checkout helper follow me to the product to prove my point and when it was all in the wrong place all she had to say was see I told you it wasn't that price not sorry for the fact that everything was in the wrong place, she added "things get moved and I don't have the time to go around fixing them" then she continued to talk about me and my fiancé right in front of us to the other employee that we were just trying to get things for cheaper and rolling her eyes. We never even asked for the price to be changed we bought the product anyway...so rude ill definitely be avoiding this stop and shop as much as possible. read more

I am a regular customer at stop and Shop. I shop by weekly. Till today may the 10th when I was fooled by them. The white seedless grapes were on sale at 2.49 from 3.99. The receipt does not show this, charging me the full price. I called customer service 3 hours later from home but I had no success. They even did not check the price on the shelf as I asked and said the grapes were not on sale. This is ridiculous. Both the red and white grapes were on sale according to the tags (50c and 1.50$). I was just robbed 4$. I will not buy again from this store. I am so upset that I am thinking not to be a stop and shop customer anymore. read more

This is a review of the new S&S gas station, just down the road from the store. I was excited to finally have a S&S gas station in town, so I didn't have to go to Waterbury or Wallingford to use my gas points. But now I am very disappointed in the "Cheshire tax" that we have to pay for that convenience. Today I was in Waterbury and the S&S gas station was priced at $3.48 for 87 octane, Gasbuddy.com reported Wallingford S&S was $3.47 for 87 octance, while just 5 1/2 miles away here in Cheshire the price was $3.59 for 87 octane. 11 cents a gallon is a pretty hefty premium to pay for the convenience of having the gas station around the corner. read more
