Love this place. They always got some fresh bakery choices in every day to choose from. I use get a Bear Claw or an Apple Fritter. They also have some unique choices like Tates cookies and some unique branded food items. The decor inside has a rustic/ski lodge look and it is very different than your typical convenient store. The guy I talk with every time is a very personalable guy and will gladly have a quick chat about something. The cold beverages are priced fairly and the convenience items are priced well as well. Sometimes WINZZ even competes to be the lowest gas prices around (were featured on a news station a couple years back) but don't always have to be as they are your first stop off the highway. All-in-all there is no room for improvement here. They have some cool and unique here. Especially with all the Cumberland Farms popping up in the area. read more

Nice local gas and mini-mart in Waterbury. Perfect for a drink, snack or coffee any time of the day. Store is stocked full of everything you would need for a road trip or to get your work day started off right. Not many other choices in this small cross roads area. Gas is average priced but would be cheaper next door at Costco. But it's never a bad idea to try and support the local little guy. read more

It's a gas station and convenience store. It seems to be very busy. I stopped in on my way back to my mother's home to grab a bottle of coca~cola. The employee was pleasant. Parking is a PIA here ...is this becoming a new Waterbury thing? Walked in the store and I'm hit with an odor. I'm not sure what but it wasn't pleasant. Normally, the coma is 2/3 at most stores here it was 1.79 ugh! Entrance is only off the one road and you can't turn left to get onto East Main. So I had to get up and around not a big deal just an FYI. I'd return but park away from front of store. read more

Ive never left a review before. But....Be careful of what you buy. I brought a package of cookies up to the counter, the shelf said $.59, the package said $0.99 and the clerk said...$2.14. An incredible mark up. Not only was the price off, the worker continued to tell me "my boss said he raised the prices in the computer". Seemed very questionable and the customer behind me agreed that it was illegal. Maybe they are trying to take advantage of people who don't catch it or simply don't care they only pay attention to what they want. read more

My experience. I went there tonight after work and Gave the cashier money for gas. He had me waiting out side for 10 minutes waiting on him to turn on the pump. I came back in the station irate. Told him to turn on the pump in many angry words. He said he did. I go back out and pump is still not on. I told him to gve me my money back. He did. I decided to use my card and the pump worked fine but he turned off the pump while I was pumping gas through my debit card.. He told me to leave. I said I will call the owners on him and said and I qoute" I am the fucking owner and get out my store before I call the police!!" He discriminated against me and all I did was go in there to get gas. Unfriendly customer service. read more

For years there was not a really convenient convenience store at this exit (25A). You had to go to Cumberland Farms at 25 or up on Meriden Road, but both are out of the way, especially on the way to work in the AM or stopping off the highway on your way to somewhere else. 25A is my usual exit in the AM and PM, so I go to Winzz a lot. Probably too much. When they first built the place on a long vacant lot we joked about their sign reading "delectable food" or something. I mean, it's a gas station, right? Wrong! The owners of this place have really thought of everything. Every morning they make about 15 egg sandwiches on croissants and place them, wrapped in foil, in a warming cabinet near the coffee. The sandwiches are not gourmet and the meat is not very good. But they really hit the spot on an empty stomach. Just make sure you get there before 8am to get one at all! They have about 10 varieties of coffee including a high caffeine version as well as that whipped coffee/hot chocolate machine that most gas stations have, milk, half and half and pump coffee mate dispensers. I would suggest adding some of those flavored single serve creamers. Check out the variety at the Mobil station on the Hutchinson River Parkway for an example!. This year they installed an oatmeal machine. You grab a bowl, hit the button for either apples and cinnamon or brown sugar, and it intermittently dispenses oatmeal powder and hot water. Crazy as it sounds, it is quite good, and fun! They have the typical hot dog roller, hot chilli and soups, bagels pre-sliced and shmeared with cream cheese. They also have a tray of donuts and muffins. The apple cider donuts are really good, as are the chocolate muffins which are essentially cupcakes. They also have cinnamon buns if you are in a sticky decadent mood. In the cooler they have yogurts, sandwiches and even PB&J sandwiches if you have a kid with you (or if you yourself like these). I do! The other side resembles a typical convenience store with sodas, dairy and snacks. Public bathrooms are clean and you don't need to ask for a key. There is an ice cream novelty cooler as well as a display of Middle Eastern snacks and an assortment of other chahkies. Outside you can get a LP cylinder, fill your tires, vaccuum your car, and of course get gas. Overall this is really the greatest convenience store. Only thing missing is a napkin dispenser. No matter what food you buy, be sure to ask for a napkin when you check out - you can only get napkins from the cashier. read more
