Although I would probably be there all the time! :) I don't get here often, so when I do I love to walk around and look at everything they have. Everything is fresh and very organized. I got a few things for the holidays, including a few stocking stuffers!There were many workers running around making sure the store was stocked. I saw a worker ask a lady if she wanted him to get her a basket because he could see she couldn't hold everything. She was very thankful. I thought the prices were pretty fair too. The store was very busy. I wish that the isles were a little wider. It's not a huge store, but it was crowded, which made it hard to move around. There were many cashiers, so I was able to check right out. I look forward to going back. read more

I don't do my "regular food shopping" at Trader Joe's, but I do pick up a few speciality items when I'm in the area. Like, Trader Joe's Green Dragon Hot Sauce, it's fantastic. And the Trader Joe's Organic mayonnaise. And most importantly, Trader Joe's Organic Peanut Butter (made with Valencia peanuts, much less aflatoxins, which could damage your liver). Also, a nice selection of cheeses can be found at Trader Joe's. I just try to get to this store super early on the weekends, like w/i the 1st hour after it's opening, so I avoid the craziness in the parking lot. Those are my recommendations. read more

My biggest complaint is the parking, and that is not the store's fault so I am giving them all five stars. Service is good and somehow the prices remain reasonable while so many other stores have gone up quite a bit. I remember buying dog treats here for my tiny pup for $2.99 years ago, and now they're only $3.49/bag which is a very small increase. They also have my favorite garlic aïoli mustard, which is also still under three dollars when so many other brands and stores are higher and not as good. The store is not huge so you probably will not find everything you want here, but you will be happy with the things you do find. From fresh produce and flowers to baked goods to vitamins and supplements. Definitely worth popping in when you were in the area or in that plaza for another store. read more

You'd be amazed to see what I've done with $35, a TJ shopping cart, and a dream! A few of my favorites would have to be the pizza crackers (palm sized crackers topped with marinara and oregano), dark chocolate salted caramels, the vegan tzatziki, and the hummus. I swear by the vegan tzatziki! As a lactose intolerant person (sorrows, sorrows ) I have to cut corners where I can, but I must admit, I love dairy. This is pretty much identical to the real thing and other people have said the same! Their green machine juice is excellent as well. I love that they always have an array of health-focused drinks. We have been shopping at the West Hartford store for the past 4 years while my daughter has been in college. We have never once in any shopping trip had a pleasant experience! Both of my daughters and my husband are employed by TJ's in California so I know why to expect. The employ at West Hartford are the most unfriendly and rude employees I have ever encountered in a TJ's. Each visit I hope is the one where they change my mind but nope. Disappointed again today when the two girls at the register did not greet us, were not friendly and continued having their personal conversation. We greeted them, asked for Crew discount and even said thank you, but nothing! Do better West Hartford! Be more selective and who you hire. SUPER small Trader Joe's - carries a fraction of the merchandise that a "normal" Trader Joe's would, but the staff is so nice and the food they do have is always good and reliable. They have an unusually good produce and cheese section for the area as do every Trader Joe's location usually. Associates are always so eager and willing to recommend products and I think they offer a guarantee on them. Trader Joe's is a store I like to shop at occasionally. The West Hartford location in particular is very small, and depending on when you go it can very easily get overly crowded and difficult to navigate. I don't go here with the intention to fill my whole cart, I go for probably three things that I've only ever seen at Trader Joe's, even doing that can be a bit of a process. The isles are really narrow, people are pushing their full carts in every direction, and the employees are unloading new merchandise in the middle of the already packed isles, it is a bit chaotic. I appreciate their prices on most items, and I especially love finding their unique items that no one else sells. For example, I love their chocolate covered banana slices, they're only $1.99 and absolutely divine. Right when you walk in you'll find the beautiful selection of fresh flowers, of course the variety depends of the season. The prices are always the best I've ever seen, they're fresh, vibrant and ready to go! During the spring, they have the most beautiful peonies, and they're not the easiest to find in most stores. I recommend this store, because of their selection of unique products and great prices. I wish it was a bit less crazy inside. read more

Went to Trader Joe's for the first time (I know, I've been living under and rock) and this location and the store itself definitely did not disappoint. The store was clean, lots of options to choose from. We were thrilled to try some new things that we have never tried before: dark chocolate covered honey graham crackers with sea salt, cacio e pepe sauce, their peanut butter cups, etc. Almost everything we tried when we got home: we liked. Frozen portions are small (maybe only enough for 1, perhaps 2 people) but just good to account for if you're buying enough for a whole family. Though busy, it still felt easy to navigate. Guests were friendly and seemed to know how to naturally move out of one another's way. The employees were absolutely lovely. So helpful, engaging and seemed genuinely happy to be there working. We interacted with Jen and Meg at the front at we checked out and they were both awesome, answering our questions and sharing in our first time excitement to be there. Great place ! The folks that work there are always happy to lend a hand and have smiles on their face.... a nice refreshing change ! Good specialty type food choices with ingredients that you. An pronounce and prices that dont leave you wondering if you can ever come back ! I'd say I can get most of my weekly needs here, but every so often I'd have to supplement it with a bigger place for large type buys and selection. Section is sometimes minimal, ie they don't have an amazing variety of creamer . But they have a few. I just wish parking wasnt so difficult. Have loved Trader Joes since I stumbled into my first one in Hadley, MA decades ago. Great prices on nutritious (not over-caloried) cereal. Great salsa. Great frozen foods. Really good muffins (try the banana chocolate chip --you will weep for joy). We bought a cart full of cool stuff today for a reasonable price. Even scored a free sample of gingerbread. Unfortunately us peons here in Central CT only have one Trader Joe's to visit in Greater Hartford. I love Trader Joe's, really I do, but I wish we had more locations to visit. When it comes to specialty items (chocolate-covered anything, I'm looking at you!) prepared foods, dry foods, practically anything in the store really -- the selection is incredibly diverse and surprisingly very reasonably priced. Need help finding something? Thought of something quirky and curious if TJ's has it? Any one of the staff will be more than happy (and enthusiastic!) to help, as they are always friendly, knowledgeable and downright polite. Some gripes with this location? Parking in their shared lot can be nightmarish (as echoed by other Yelpers here) DEFINITELY avoid rush grocery shopping hours and the weekend (go during the week or during off-peak hours) as this place can be a zoo with crying babies and maniacs rushing to get in and get out with their groceries. Oh and lastly, unlike other locations this particular Trader Joe's does not have the infamous "two buck chuck" which essentially is TJ's own selection of red and white wine varieties often times selling for less than $3. The saving grace however is their decent beer selection which rotates seasonally and, you guess it -- reasonably priced! read more

I really wish there was a Trader Joe's East of the river but that could be a problem can't get out of there without spending at least $80 bucks....lol They have a nice produce area. Love that I can get Persian cucumbers for $1.99 package. They cost about $4 a pack at Whole Foods. We are addicted to the orange chicken in the freezer section it's nice and crispy once cooked and all you have to do is cook some rice and maybe some vegetables go with it. They have a large nut and dried fruit section so I can make my own trail mix. They also have some neat seasonal items as in pumpkin flavored items for the fall. Which can be anywhere from nuts, cheeses breads Etc. I just all-around like Trader Joe's cuz you can find some unique products that you can't find elsewhere and they will let you sample just have to ask. read more

I love trade Joe's to begin with. This location is not that huge but it has all the basics. It can get crowded in here so I do wish it was bigger. There are only 4 aisles and each aisle is narrow. Usually get in cart traffic somewhere along the way when shopping. I love trying food and coffee at the stand near groceries area. I usually end up getting veggies, fruits, dried nuts/banana chips/cranberries, ice cream bon bons, peanut butter, chips and salsa, and some frozen food here and there. They have some really unique snacks that are healthy and tasty to try. The flowers are fresh and we even picked out a pumpkin for $4 during this fall season. Overall, love all Trader Joe's. We love Joe's! This is the location that we visit most, due to it's proximity to our home. Parking can be a real pain in the butt, but if you're smart...you'll park in the back! Shop during the week if you can. If you have to shop on the weekend, get here as soon as they open. If you don't like crowds, you'll thank me for this tip. You should also consider subscribing to their email newsletter. You'll know when all of their new products come in. You may not always find these new items & specials, be sure to ask a sales associate. They may have a special display somewhere else in the store. These special items also sell out fast. If you find something you like, make sure you get back to stock up! This location does pretty well at keeping the organic produce stocked. There's still room for improvement, I would love to see more variety brought in. If you're like me, and you like to have themed dinners they have awesome frozen food options. They offer Italian, Mexican, Asian, Indian. Everything from appetizers to main courses. If you're hosting a party, they have everything that you would need to create a charcuterie board. From fancy to crazy cheeses, smoked meats, fruits, veggies & nuts. If dips is more your thing, they carry humus, salsas and other healthy and not so healthy concoctions. My favorite is the Spinach, Kale & Greek Yogurt, it's great with pita chips! Oh, and I have to mention the desserts. My son loves the chocolate covered frozen bananas & organic animal cookies. I went the other day to grab some of my favorites and a few new items, it was pouring outside and I had forgotten my umbrella, a nice gentlemen, tall Caucasian, an employee stood by the door and walked customers to their cars so that they wouldn't get wet. I had forgotten where I had parked and this nice man walked around In the parking lot following me around helping me find it. Is this a busy crazy store with crowded, narrow aisles? Very much so! Is it however a warm place full of friendly folk? NOPE! Just kidding, they are indeed friendly here. I'm surprised how kind our cashiers have been every time. Someone in the aisle is always willing to look and/or ask if we haven't found what we needed, with no annoyed glance despite the bustle. Samples at Corbin's Cafe , alas, are very tasty and have often altered our shopping list. Kids get to look for Jonathan the Husky and can get a lollipop if they find him, but when kids politely ask cashiers for a lollipop, that works too. The floral section makes it a little more pleasant to enter the store, and looking at all the seasonal offerings are like looking for Jonathan the Husky for adults (autumn pasta, pumpkin bread mix, Kringle, etc.). For the staples, novelties, and stimulating shopping experience, we keep coming back. read more

Trader Joes, I love you!!!! Over the past couple of years I've completely switched over to doing all of my grocery shopping here with the exception of when I need some Skippy peanut butter or Heinz ketchup - I can't make the commitment to switch to anything else. The products are so unique and I seem to always pick up some new treat while I'm here. A few of my favorites include the frozen banana slices, frozen fruit bars (one with strawberry and lemonade), granola bars, strawberry Greek yogurt, kimchi rice, cinnamon apple sticks and the Thai chili cashews...the list could go on! I love that you are able to get fresh, organic and low-calorie items for a reasonable price. Their coffee is also very tasty and priced pretty comparable to the other big brands. Tips: This place is packed on the weekends so come here on the week days if it's possible for you or come early in the morning on Saturday or Sunday. While we were en route from Long Island to Longmeadow (Massachusetts), we decided to stop off at a Trader Joe's so I could get some snacks to bring back to Hawaii. Every Trader Joe's is different, and it's always fun to experience ones in different states. This one was smaller than some of the stores I'm used to, but the selection is still decent. During my visit, I didn't see the "what's new" section - it's usually located toward the back of the store (closer to the breads and baked goods at other Trader Joe's stores), and it features goodies that are seasonal or brand new to that store. Maybe it was just because it was my first time at this location, but I couldn't find that particular section. It wasn't too major, though, since I had an idea of what treats I wanted to buy. Since the goodies I like tend to be in the same location, I had no problem finding my favorite snacks. The store was pretty busy for a normal Tuesday afternoon! Here are some of my favorites: Pecan Pralines: I got at least one container of these pecan pralines because they're so addictive. You can find them in the same aisle as the cookies, chocolate covered pretzels, dark chocolate almonds, etc. (the area above the refrigerated meals). They're packaged in a square container. I love adding these to my salads, but they're also great for snacking on and eating plain. They're actually quite addictive and if I'm not careful, I can eat at least half the container in one sitting. If you like regular pecans, these are a little sweeter because they're coated in sugar. They're also crunchier because of the praline hybrid. Chocolate-Covered Peanut Butter Pretzels: When it comes to sweets, these are my favorite treats! I love these pretzels because they're filled with creamy peanut butter and sport a milk chocolate coating. I always throw the bags I buy in the fridge because they taste even better cold. I've learned to ration myself because I can easily down the entire bag in one sitting ... it's happened before. But of all the different pretzel varieties, I like this one the most. Dark Chocolate Pretzels: I recently had these for the first time, and since I love dark chocolate, they didn't disappoint. I love how these pretzels were thinner but still featured sufficient chocolate flavor. This is great if you want something slightly sweet to snack on, but not overindulgent. Cowboy Bark: This is one of my other favorite snacks because it's a salty-sweet hybrid. This bark is positively addictive, but I like it because it has a salty aftertaste. It features dark chocolate bark topped with toffee, peanuts, pretzels and caramel (I think). Just be sure to keep the bag out of the sun because the contents will melt! I also tend to put this in the fridge because I think the bark tastes better when it's cold. Maple Leaf Cookies: I'm not exactly sure if that's the official name of this treat, but these cookies come in a rectangular box and can be found in the cookie aisle. They're in a maple leaf shape (it's a sandwich cookie), but I like the sweet maple cream filling on the inside. The cookie itself isn't super sweet, but it sports a light maple flavor. The cream is my favorite part! read more

I love TJ's and echo the sentiments everyone else (with a positive review) has stated. It's Super cheap, you can fill two grocery bags for about $30. I love their frozen foods (breakfast stuff, desserts, Indian food, appetizers) their triple layer hummus, the pita crackers, mini pb cups and those Marcona almonds with the rosemary....my goodness those are good. The only thing I didn't see reviewed here was that they have some awesome micro-brew beers (IPA's and such) for about $5 a six pack. I know of no other place where you can score a 6 pack for a good IPA for under $9 in the state of CT. Try it!! I find it's best to hit TJ's during a "down time" because it's a tiny place with lots to buy. read more

Trader Joe's is a staple in our family. Whether it's the Mushroom Turnovers, or the chips, or, well, the list can go on and on, this place has great things to offer. My suggestion: Stock up on the frozen apps and you can't go wrong. The dumplings, or the pigs in blankets are very good. And your guests won't know that you didn't get them from a "fancy" place. Prices are quite reasonable and the service is quick and efficient. Is this a place for your everyday shopping? No. But for good meals and some other things to stock up on, it's a great find. Last tip: If you really like something, buy a lot of it. It may not be there the next time you come back. (I'm still waiting on the Hot & Sour Soup to make a return.) read more
