This place is amazing in so many ways. Gluten free food, cheap prices without sacrificing quality, lots of similar products to name brands (and also some actual name brands sold there). Groceries, outdoor/kitchen stuff, household essentials, they have a lot. They may not have everything, and produce rotates according to the seasons (which may be a good thing - it helps me try new stuff), but the prices are so worth it. Place is nice and clean, You can find just about anything here including small plants. If you forget your grocery bags don't worry they have plenty of cardboard boxes for you to take! Aldi of West Hartford isn't my Aldi of preference, but I'll stop here when I'm in the area. The store stocks fresh produce, meats, and other grocery goods. The biggest issue with this location is that they're usually short staffed, and the lines can be awfully long, with shopping carts overflowing. As far as the merchandise they offer, there are certain things I like to get here and other items at other retailers, mostly because the variety at Aldi is limited. Their Éclairs are one delicious sweet treat I like to get there. This is a fine store with great prices, and a decent selection of groceries, but be prepared to wait a while in a long line. read more

So glad they went through renovations. You can maneuver better and find things efficiently. Love the hodgepodge of stuff they sell seasonally or randomly like hangers and planters. Someone is always stocking shelves and produce. Cashiers are very quick although sometimes there is only one available but they call for back up and the line goes by fast. I used not like ALDI and I really don't even know why. Although is still not my first stop to grocery shopping , is definitely a stop to get a few items. Prices are definitely low compared to other grocery stores. Store is clean and well kept. read more

Aldi's has come a long way in the years since I first shopped there as a newly married woman. When I used to go to Aldi's it was not considered "in" but it was a way for me to keep a tight reign on my finances. In the years since I have morphed away from Aldi's and their low cost "no frills" merchandise opting to shop at one of the other "no frills" grocery stores in my area. BUT on a recent trip to West Hartford I was pleasantly surprised on how much Aldi's has changed it has really remained the same. You can still go there for your no frills items and get them for a hell of a deal BUT now they also have a large (larger from my last time there) assortment of "lighter" food. Everything from Organic nuts, peanut butter to glutten free foods, if one did not know better they might think they were in a regular big box grocery store. However - the proof is in the pudding or at least in how these products tasted once I brought them home - and guys - there was no difference. From the fruits and vegetable to the items I bought for a small get together - I never once thought I was eating something that came from a "no frills" store. So I will be back to Aldi's rest assured - even though I am older and make a bit more money then I did when I first visited Aldi's - I still watch my pennies and shopping at Aldi's makes that a bit easier to do. read more

Love this place, especially for their gluten free stuff. New GF things pop up e very time I go, and for a small store, that's pretty awesome. I have my regular type things that I like from here. Love that you can pronounce their ingredients. Dont love all their produce. I don't mind that they dont have bags, bring your own ! They cashiers are so super quick and never wrong!!! Selectuon on specific items are limited , obv it's a smaller store so need to adjust the expectations on that a but. Otherwise, go ! read more

I used to come to this store all the time. I was an Aldis fanatic. I loved all the low pricing and the great food. I haven't been in a couple months but when I stopped by last night. What a disappointment. The store was very disorganized. There was only one cashier on duty. (Which was very polite might I add) she pointed out that my cheese was moldy! I come here on a consistent basis for eggs, yogurt, produce, spices and cheese. Don't expect the selection of a Stop and Shop, that's how they keep prices low. If you don't want to pay for bags I suggest bringing your own or be at mercy of a random empty box on the shelves. I am usually the crazy lady lugging way too much in a handful of bags because I forget to grab a quarter to pay the shopping cart's deposit. The quality of their branded products overall good. If you don't like it, ALDI has a lax return policy - use it! If you're gluten-free I will say ALDI has a variety of products available more than other stores read more

I am a fan. I went here for the first time after reading a piece about it in the Courant. Don't forget: CASH OR DEBIT ONLY. Also, you have to pay for your own shopping bags, and you need a quarter in order to get a shopping cart. So, why am I a fan? Why have I gone back? The prices. The prices are really that good. The first time I went shopping, I bought a fair amount of stuff, and was worried that I only had $50 with me. The bill was just under $30. Dairy prices were really good, as were prepared foods. Haven't tried the meats yet, so I won't comment on that. Prices were good, but quality is worth more to me in that department. I thought produce prices were about average. Be aware that there is very little selection. This doesn't tend to be a one-stop shop for me. However, it is a great supplement to the BJ's that is right next to this location. read more

Aldi is one of my favorite places to grocery shop (next to Trader Joe's, which is owned by the same parent company), so I'm going to do my best to not repeat all the good things other Yelpers have said. Usually eating healthy is synonymous with expensive, but not when it comes to Aldi. My staples are: frozen fruit, bananas (44 cents/lb), (massive) garlic cloves (99 cents for three), organic marinara without sugar added ($1.69 each), and organic salsa (under $1.99). I also will buy their avocados (under $1 each), grapefruit (under $1 each), berries (under $2/container), and mushrooms (around $1/container) when they're on sale. And they have random healthy finds like organic coconut oil, fruit leather, and almond butter. When I travel, I love the Bolthouse Green Goodness smoothies. I also love their baking aisle, where you can get items like cans of pureed pumpkin and golden raisins for a steal, and their random rotation of household goods and kitchen items. I've never had an issue with the service, and the staff are always helpful and friendly to me. My two gripes with Aldi are that they don't always have everything I need (their produce section tends to be very seasonal), they don't take credit cards (gotta get that cashback) and they don't accept coupons (which I use frequently). To that last point, Aldi may not accept coupons, but their regular prices are comparable to other grocery store sale prices--and in some cases even cheaper. read more

Their tag line is something like "Never Ending Lowest Prices". Obviously this is their business driver. Due to their layout, they need to sell things that have a shelf life for the most part, hence they fall back to selling very processed foods. That said, they do provide a good value. This week when I was there, there were Pineapples for $1.50 and Spiral Ham was available ( three different types) ranging from $1.25 to $1.75. These are examples of two good values to be sure. This store is located near Home Depot, we visit for sale items like a smoked ham or certain advertised produce, but in general most of the packaged food here has additives or corn syrup making it unsuitable for some of my family members. The layout is unique, they have a niche for sure, I just cannot tell you what that is! Whenever I visit they have space in this small store dedicated to some type of non grocery item. Like card tables and chairs or battery operated coin banks. Right now they are all about Easter. It must work for them. It is a newly constructed building and a nice clean place, I am a fan of the pay to get a cart, get paid when you return a cart. read more

Some interesting finds here for sure. Some laughable (off-brand cereals with the same colors/logos as whatever they're cloning) but decent produce & basic ingredients. Prices are extremely inexpensive and the store is very manageable because it's much smaller than a Stop & Shop or comparable grocery mecca. I wouldn't come to Aldi for everything (I'm kinda skeptical of the meat and dairy because it's so heavily discounted) but I'll definitely come back. Even if just to giggle at pink & orange printed coffee bags labeled "Donut Shop Coffee" in Dunkin Donuts font. I love bootleg stuff. Gotta admit, their "Cinnamon Crunch Squares" cereal is pretty dang tasty. read more

Classic Aldi's. Simple minimalistic store. This one is located right by a BJ's, so it works out quite well for me. I will usually go here to buy potatoes ( somewhere around $ 3 for a 10 lb bag), onions ( around $4-5 for a 10 lb bag) and cilantro ( 89 cents for a bunch) which are almost half priced compared to other grocery stores. They're not organic or anything, but the price I haven't seen beat before. There are some interesting finds in the household section too, and items change every few weeks. They have other fruits and vegetables too, and I often find people cherry picking through even clamshell boxes. A little annoying if you ask me. Most items in the store are their own brand, which is how they can offer low prices. Packaged foods have been a hit or miss for me. But then I have picked some strange looking food to be honest. I like that the store doesn't offer those flimsy plastic bags. Customers have to bring their own; and I personally don't mind at all. And since you have to pay a quarter for a deposit on the cart you're using, people will mostly put the cart back in place to retrieve their money. That means hardly any lingering carts dangerously stashed in the parking lot; I like that! read more

In West Hartford we have two Whole Foods, a Trader Joes, two Walmarts, and a bunch of other grocery stores. Why shop at Aldi, which is a fraction of the square footage? Cereal at $1.89 a box, eggs and milk at a fraction of the price you'd find at Whole Paycheck. That's why. I have yet to find any of the Aldi brand stuff that my kids won't eat. And now that the oldest is nearly thirteen and eating as if food will soon be banned, it really helps to have a cheap place to get the staples. Try the boneless pork chops, they're very good. Also look for Fage yogurt and compare the price to your normal grocer. read more

I have been looking forward to visiting ALDI forever and so I was pretty disappointed when I got here. I don't eat all that many processed foods, but I will note that the prepackaged/processed food selection was plentiful and pretty good prices. There were the regular and the healthier options. Unfortunately, what I realized pretty quickly is that ALDI would be great if I lived with other people, but because I live alone, it isn't really cost effective for me to shop there since many produce items come bundled in packages that are far too large for me to use before they expire. It isn't Costco/Sam's Club huge, but it is still too much for a single person. I would definitely recommend a family or roommates who share food expenses check it out. read more

i love coming here for grocery shopping. Good quality inexpensive items, not too crowded and not too big. I come here when I don't need to many grocery items. It is also medium sized so it isn't so hard to look for things compared to when you shop at walmart, stop and shop. read more

I love this place! Everything is so affordable and "works" fine, tastewise. A lot of people say that Aldi's only sells bad-fpr-you packaged crap, but hey, a lot of them BUY crap anyways.
