While traveling the secondary roads around the country it has been a passion of mine to find the…read moresmall museums, little country stores and small monuments that are scattered across this nation. There was a time when I thought the front counters of country stores would make an interesting picture of rural america, maybe some one will make it and ... but on to Rucki's. What a cool find. A small country store with fresh vegetables from local gardens, a few canned goods, videos for rent, books to loan, a coffee area, fresh made morning cinnamon rolls, fresh meat, friendly people and more. After chatting with mom, (her daughters are moving things around the store and cashier - I am sure they do everything around the store as well) I learned that the tag line for the store is everything from Bibles to Bullets - and yes they sell bibles and bullets!. So I bought a fresh baked gooey cinnamon roll and gave the young lady a 2 dollar bill. One of my other well known quirks is to carry two dollar bills and use them for purchases and tips. She looked at the two dollar bill, held it up and yelled across the store, mom do we take these and she held it up. Her mom laughed and the young teenagers had her first encounter with a two dollar bill. What fun. Creating memories for her and me as the travels continue. Be sure to visit Frog Rock for another hoot when you are in the area.

There is also a dog park at the far end of the lot. One admirable fact about this market is that they do food trunk fillings for our Veterans each week. NEVER AGAIN!! The GOOD:…read moreLocation Atmosphere Taste of food offered The Bad: Food quantity for the price!! After my partner's friend told him about this place and how it was wonderful, all you can eat (he went to a meat offered menu) we chose to try the shellfish and champagne on August 15th. Again the venue is wonderful the setup was beautiful there was oysters on the half shell and those seem to be very plentiful but we didn't over eat on those we wanted to save for the main meals which was supposed to be halibut Lobster, &scallops. when we got there the menu card added herbed crusted chicken for some reason. Everything was family style, truthfully, the chicken platter had the most plentiful amount of food on it!! Of which I took one piece of chicken breast and whatever vegetables sauteed with it I think they were just mushrooms, my partner took none of the chicken cuz he didn't want to fill up on chicken. The white meat was dry the sauteed vegetables were delicious and when eating with the chicken it was palatable. Then my partner and I got ONE SMALL scallop each, the family style "platter" that came out had FIVE scallops on them so he and I both took one as did the couple across from us and then the last one was taken by another couple next to us which is fine because we share family "platters", those five scallops were not meant just for my partner and I, they were meant for the vicinity of where we were sitting which was 10 of us. I think the long table held about 40 on one side 40 on the other. The lobster, same thing, luckily I got one piece which was a white meat and I split that in half to my partner and it wasn't a lot it was literally, for me, two bites and he got some claws which I never tasted and they were so tiny!! the halibut again small pieces on the family style "platter" I took one he took one and then later he took another one that was still sitting on the platter, I think maybe 6/7 pieces were on that platter. Honestly I've tasted better halibut it was on the dry side unfortunately. So for the money,$150 EACH, we expected family style portions even if they weren't going to be filled after the first time at least give us a family style portion and when the guy across the table from us asked about getting more Lobster the wait staff said "I'll have to see", of course none ever came. When my partner asked if more scallops were coming the wait staff said "I don't think so"... so all in all it was very disappointing for the amount of money we paid per person, we will never do that again or recommend it. His friend either gas lit us or his night of a meat dinner family style "platters" were very significant!!

This is my new shopping spot for groceries since the price of them has gotten out of control! Stop…read moreand Shop's prices are SO outrageous and their fruit and produce has been horrible! I purchased all my fruit from Aldi's last week and NOTHING has gotten moldy- which typically happens when I buy fruit from stop and shop- within a day or two! So A+ for fruit and produce! They have a really good dairy section and a lot of good frozen items. My only issue would be that they don't have everything! I usually shop for specific snacks for my eight-year-old son and they often don't carry a lot of the snacks that he enjoys! However, with that being said, their prices are amazing! I bought 6-8 items the other day and it was literally under $30!!! If I had purchased that from stop and shop it would have been- no lie- $50-$75! And with the price of groceries just going up and up- I can't afford to spend that much & then in 2 days half of the fruit needs to be thrown out bc of mold! At Aldi's everything I have purchased has been very high quality- especially a lot of the cheeses they carry! Overall they have a GOOD selection of items - but a lot of my usuals they don't carry! Which includes certain cereals like Frosted Flakes, Honey Nut Cheerios and cinnamon toast crunch. If you don't mind non-name brand- they have a ton of substitutions or equivalents- so that's a plus. Another very minor issue- I have when I shop here- is you need a quarter to use a carriage and I always forget change and they don't do bags- so bring your own! Another occasional issue is the lines. It seems like they don't have enough cashiers or maybe I only shop during their "peak" busy times but I have walked in- gotten a few items and have had to leave because the line was just long and taking forever. So if you plan on shopping here- I would try to come when it's not too busy! Overall the service is always consistently good and cashiers are friendly. The store itself is ALWAYS near and tidy- unlike other similar retailers which are just a mess! Side note: They have machines so you can recycle bottles/cans/etc. which is also very convenient! !

That's where you often have to look in stores like this, because if you expect to pay a dollar- you are definitely mistaken! Overall the place is clean, organized, and looks brand new. I often wonder why I don't see cars in the parking lot. There prices and items are similar to Dollar Tree! Dollar tree has definitely come a LONG way IMO.
