Every fall, my wife and I go Apple picking. A few years ago, I stumbled upon this orchard in the…read moreBuyCTGrown website. Not only do they have a plethora of varieties to pick from, but they also have Pears, Peaches, Plums and Blueberries too. I had pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I was never going to have a decent Peach ever again, especially with the way the corporate food conglomerates harvest them in Florida and California. By the time they find their way to New England, they're usually flavorless or mealy. This year, we picked some Peaches here at Palazzi's and they are the best Peaches I've ever eaten. We came across a staff member in the orchard and he told us what to look for when picking the best fruit. I really want to thank him for his advice, because I'm in fruit heaven for a while, until I run out and have to return to this wonderful place. We came one week too late to pick Plums, so next year, I'm scheduling a day in mid-August to grab some of those. If they're half as good as the Peaches, I'll be a happy camper. I also noticed a few trees with Asian Pears, my favorite kind of Pears, so I'll be going back in a couple of weeks when they've ripened.

It had a dip that had a quart of yogurt has some slicing cheese on burgers. It had the kind of crackers it had a cream cheese. It had about seven different items in the bag for $25. I really felt that was a very good value Because it's directly from the farmer. They had a lot of good deals today. They are fresh local meats and cheeses pies from humble pie company and waffle. They also had ice cream from like five different companies. This was a lot of fun so glad I bought the ticket. It was only $10 and well worth the price. My intentions had to take my grandkids up here so they can see the cows and stuff and they can get ice cream a different day.

Bottom line: they are doing this the right way. I had no physical contact with anyone so all i needed to do was wash the groceries when I got home, which I do anyway! Great service. While traveling the secondary roads around the country it has been a passion of mine to find the…read moresmall museums, little country stores and small monuments that are scattered across this nation. There was a time when I thought the front counters of country stores would make an interesting picture of rural america, maybe some one will make it and ... but on to Rucki's. What a cool find. A small country store with fresh vegetables from local gardens, a few canned goods, videos for rent, books to loan, a coffee area, fresh made morning cinnamon rolls, fresh meat, friendly people and more. After chatting with mom, (her daughters are moving things around the store and cashier - I am sure they do everything around the store as well) I learned that the tag line for the store is everything from Bibles to Bullets - and yes they sell bibles and bullets!. So I bought a fresh baked gooey cinnamon roll and gave the young lady a 2 dollar bill. One of my other well known quirks is to carry two dollar bills and use them for purchases and tips. She looked at the two dollar bill, held it up and yelled across the store, mom do we take these and she held it up. Her mom laughed and the young teenagers had her first encounter with a two dollar bill. What fun. Creating memories for her and me as the travels continue. Be sure to visit Frog Rock for another hoot when you are in the area.
