If you are looking for a salted caramel ice cream, look no further. This was so delicious, it was not vanilla with a caramel swirl, the whole thing was salted caramel! Just the right amount of salty and sweet and so much flavor. generous portions and you get to sit outside (shaded tents were there ) and look at all the animals on the farm. OMG! The meats are spectacular. Never, ever had a bone-in pork chop like the raise and sell. Indescribable flavor (we use hard wood charcoal grilling). It used to be the best. But, many better farms have come along since my last review. Their farm store is cute. However, the meat is way too expensive for what it is. There are a lot of local farms raising cattle. Go to one of the smaller ones for your home cooked meals. This meat is better for the restaurants. read more

I've shopped at the Blackbird farm stand before and have had positive experience, but it was my first time having their ice cream. I decided to go with one scoop of chocolate flavor on a waffle cone. It was DELICIOUS!!! The size of the scoop was about average, price was a little more than other places (this is some local farm goodness), and the ice cream started melting right away like that was its only job (I'm assuming because it's made with real cow's milk), but it was all worth it for the flavor! Even the waffle cone tasted fresh and crunchy. 5 stars from me PS- it's cash only. read more

Black raspberry has chocolate chips in it????? Since when they have that??? I was here a year before COVID and thought their black raspberry was awesome. So I decided to come back to get some more on a hot summer day. Boy, I was so disappointed!!!! The black raspberry barely have any flavors plus I dislike the chocolate chips in it!!! Two small scoops in a plastic cup.... Really small servings and a long wait coz there was only one person working behind the wheels!!!! Poor girl hustling to get a crowd of ppl ice cream and sundae and whatnot! Also saw the sundae was $10 and served with a small narrow plastic cup!!!????? Overpriced!!!!! The absolute best meat around! i don't eat a lot of meat but when I do I always stop at Blackbird to get the highest quality beef. Made some short ribs in my Instant Pot for Christmas and they were the hit of the day. I also sent a holiday gift pack to my son in Oregon, and he loved it. I usually send him another brand but from now it will be Blackbird only. Also the nicest, and most expert staff going. Always willing to help out with selection, recipes, and tips on their products. Yes, I definitely have room for ice cream. When does one actually not have room for ice cream? Run by a family of four, this little trailer offers ice cream in an otherwise farm-ey area of Smithfield. The ice cream sure is a nice touch in an part of Smithfield that lacks any sort of quick-junk food service nearby. A small trailer sits in the middle of a farm among a few nice park benches and southern feel good string lighting. A nice spot on a summer night to grab a few scoops and chat the night away. When I say it is a family business it is literally run by a family, all sitting by the trailer. They have only opened a few weeks ago and were quite welcoming as they knew it was my first time visiting. The trailer is operated by two children while their parents sit nearby to supervise and socialize with patrons. Was the ice cream the best I have ever had? Probably not. But it was still delicious; my cookie dough had plenty of large gobs of goodness. It's hard not to give a place like this a 5-star review. Operating for something other than just dollas, operating to have family time, is something I can get behind. So get your rear on over and give it a try. read more

Mama Bear (Anne Marie) was one of the most kind and helpful human beings my wife and I have come across in a long time. She took extra time to chat with us and fill us in on everything about the farm and all of their products. Seriously, I can't put enough emphasis on how beautiful of a soul this woman is. That's just a review of the incredible customer service. When it comes to the quality of everything for sale there I could go on for days but I'll try to keep it to a short novel. There's everything you could ever want from REAL organic meats, to farm fresh veggies, seafood, ice cream, etc, and EVERYTHING is the freshest quality you're gonna find. All I have to say is wow, I already am falling in love with this place! Local, grass fed angus beef yum. On my trip the other day I had the pleasure of meating (see what I did there?) the owner, I think her name was Ann-Marie. I was intending to go to the farm stand but they were closed. Being familiar with the area I knew where there farm was and drove on up. It was almost odd, as soon as I got out of my car there she was! Walked right on up to me and asked what I needed. Now I have never been to a farm before so I was lost for words, "ummm I am not buying for a restaurant or anything but I would love some steaks" . She was more than happy to oblige "Come on down to the freezer we have plenty!". After hearing the price list I was slightly taken back and I thought to myself, wow this is expensive but Ann Marie went on to tell me a little bit more about the meat itself. This is 100% grass fed free-range dry aged angus. What does that mean? It means the absolute best cut of meat you can buy for under 20$ a pound, kind of like that stuff you see in whole foods only for cheaper. The N.y strip we bough was 16$ a pound and the ground beef was 6.25$, total bill 40.48$. I could not help myself once I saw the quality. I dare you to compare a supermarket's beef to this, its that good! That night after thawing out the meat me and my girlfriend had the best, mouth watering delight in recent memory. I can honestly say this is as good as it gets. It goes on though, the farm also offers fresh eggs, pork, countless cuts of beef and I believe they have cooking classes and such. I will be back! There is a reason all the top tier restaurants buy from here, go to the source not a supermarket, all fine dining starts with the meat. My mouth is watering just thinking about the next steak I can afford from Blackbird farm! read more

This is off the beaten path. You either need to be a Chef or some kind of super foodie (god i hate that term) in order to find or even know about these folks. Back around St. Patricks Day, I determined that it was time to brine my own brisket. There are many to be had, there's commodity beef brisket in every market if you just ask. Being the stubborn cuss that I am, I decided that if I'm going to do the work and clear out space in my little fridge - no small task - I would make it the best ever, using local beef. So, I rang up the farm that I had heard so many good things about, was greeted cheerfully by Ann Marie, who told me that it would be just fine to stop by the next day to grab one, and oh by the way, she'd be more than happy to give me a tour. I mentioned that I would have my 12 year old daughter with me and she said that would be so cool, bring her along, she'd be pleased to show us around. Ann Marie was so incredibly generous with her time, taking the time to walk us through every pen of the place, introducing us to seemingly every single animal. The very fact that she knows each and every one, and their lineage, demonstrated her love and care of the business and the humanity of the process. It was an amazing lesson that our food comes from somewhere, and it should come from a place that actually gives a shit...lol...we stepped in lots of it, and didn't give a ....you know. Sure, the brisket was more expensive than any supermarket. The experience and education for my daughter and I was truly priceless. From what I understand, they run a farmstand at the end of the road during growing season, which not only features their proteins, but also local produce. read more

This is for a review of the farm stand. Small but very nice. Friendly staff, good produce and prices. Parking is a bit of a hassle if you park right in front, not sure if there is any other lot. I bought some eggs, vegetables, lip balm, beeswax candles, and pumpkin seeds. I would prefer to buy meat that is not frozen for that price though so I didn't really like that. Thank you so much to AnnMarie for such a wonderful birthday party experience for my 4yr old! She went above and beyond to make sure my little guy and his friends had a blast at the farm! We had to reschedule the party due to weather and she was more then accommodating! Once we arrived at the farm she surprised us with a personal animal experience. All the children got to feed the animals hay. It was so easy and fun! The girls in the ice cream trailer happily scooped about 20 kiddie cones! Blackbird is always my first stop for meats! They have a really excellent selection, and everything is soooo good. The owner is really awesome and helpful too; she can always recommend a technique or a recipe; I always leave with something extra because of something she's suggested. I arrived just as she locked the door last night, and she was sweet enough to reopen for me. Super appreciate it! The ice cream and bbq trucks are TOP NOTCH, highly recommend stopping. Ann-Marie is possibly the sweetest farmer...rancher? cow raiser? Whatever. Anyway, Blackbird is a little farm in Smithfield that raises Angus cows that are free of hormones, steroids, and unnecessary antibiotics. Free range, and fed local grain, these cows are happy cows! And as the commercials say happy cows are...tasty cows? The cows are named and loved, and charted straight through to harvest and grading. You know where its been, and why its so damn good! I'm pretty sure they sell at the local farmers markets, but they also erected a farm stand right on limerock/douglas ave. Serving assorted local stuff along with their meats. Sure its a little more expensive, but its nice to know the little moo-cows were happy getting to your plate! read more
