new games are nice. like that it's coins and tickets. but I've been coming here for almost 25 years straight it's the still same ac unit or something almost 25 years and have same crappy old hot ac is crazy. then all ticket machines are out and when you bring it up to them they say ok turn around and that's it. there has been one lady here for over 25 years she is the nicest lady. but needs to update the ac unit so its not so hot it's cooler outside then inside and it's 90 degrees almost out. it's Florida inside places need ac. not like their using the money to update this place there's the same games I was raised with same snack same gold part same balls same clubs fix the ac with that money to read more

We were told by staff in person when we paid for birthday party that we could set up our kids birthdays at 2:30 and start at 3:00. We are now standing in the lobby with group of children and parents holding cake, cup cakes, presents, balloons and party decorations waiting till 3:00 because. They in fact do not let you set up before hand. All my questions were given short answers. I asked where the tables were located the lady said in the back, I asked which specific one and she just kept saying in the back, there are 4 tables. I asked her to show me and she said she couldn't. If you yearn for an arcade with a mix of retro and post Bally pinball games; wish for classics such as Pac-Man or Ms. Pac-Man (that does not have a chip setting that forces incredibly stupid fast speed; love top arcarde games such as Donkey Kong, Astorides, Centipede, Defender, NBA Jam; if you love gory games, or quick-draw games; if you like decent food, DO NOT Stop n Play HERE! The first thing noticable, is the horrible smell; a mixture of dampness, and stale air. They serve pizza and burgers, but the aromas are choked out. The vast majority of gaming footage is misused by something masquerading as a miniature golf course. Ever play the bowling game with the metal puck you slide along the wood boards toward the pins? Not here. Classic or neo-popular pinball games? Not here, with one single exception: Terminator (of course, there are only 4 pinball games, anyway.) The floor staff is the only decent thing about this place. The game tech responded quickly, was technically and tactically proficient, and pleasant. Other floor staff contact was equally pleasant: they helped explain how to play several games, offered appropriate advise, and seemed to genuinely enjoy helping. These folks are working in the wrong arcade. Stop 'N Play? Don't stop here. read more

We had a great experience! The employees were so nice, the games were affordable, and the atmosphere was relaxed and so much fun! It was not overwhelming or overstimulating like some arcades. We will be back! read more

The staff was at best aloof, but what do you expect from High School kids I guess? There were a few adults there as well, but because of the kids wanting to chat with each other and ignore guests with their faces in their phones - the place was dirty and run down. So, it is what it is. read more

There are no words to explain this place. If your looking at the bottom reviews don't because of the simple face that there are extremely old. When you look at the picture from the outside it doesn't look like anything other than a motel. (Stop & Play motel!) When you walk into the parking lot it just goes to show how old yelp is. It has beautiful vibrant colors from the outside. The inside is nothing like how people say it is. There's games for everyone. If your into sports, racing, vintage, action, first person shooters, gambling, luck, and it's good for all the kids. Great selection of prizes. They even had a blowup kayak when I went. The food was pretty "solid". Especially for an arcade. I had a blast. I suggest everyone that is in town go there. (Prices very reasonable) read more

This is a Chuck E Cheese type of place with various arcade games, midway type games and a mini-golf course in the center. The nice thing is that it provides a cool escape from the summer heat for relatively little money. The bad: Playing games here is like a trip down memory lane. Most of the games are circa 1990. Games like Wrestlemania, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle and Sprint Track. These are games I played to death 15 years ago! They have a very limited number of games from this decade, but it is still fun. The place also seemed pretty dirty. The carpet was stained and there was trash all around. Plenty of games were broken. Oh, and the pizza was really bad! Kudos to them for having another childhood favorite... Slush Puppy! I'm going to have to stop by just to have one when I'm in town! Cool place. We go every now and then to play ticket games and redeem prizes. Old school style arcade with tokens and tickets. They have a good variety of games (pinball, claw machines, classic arcade and ticket redemption games) they usually have interesting prizes and the staff is friendly they've helped me before if a machine ran out of tickets. They're kind of the only game in town so if you're in that area check them out. We've never tried the food but imagine it's what you'd expect. Cool operation happy to support family owned arcade rather than the big franchise ones like D+B or Main Event. read more

Before I begin with my review, I must first say that Stop & Play will always hold a special place in my heart. I have been visiting Stop & Play for over 35 years, and can remember in the early 80s when it was called Fun Spot. Stop & Play is a local family owned video arcade with additional options for families such as miniature golf. They are not a franchised establishment such as "Chuck E Cheese", with unlimited funding for new games, but do very well for what they have. The physical building of Stop & Play is very large. It has a very spacious interior with a miniature golf course, snack bar, prize center and play area for the children. Their selection of video arcade games have a wide range in age. There are games there that I can vividly remember from the early 80s, to newer games that l have seen at Chuck E Cheese. To me this is what makes Stop & Play so special. I feel like I can re-live part of my childhood while my kids enjoy theirs. If you are looking for a fun, inexpensive place to take your children for a few hours, then this is your place. Most people visiting this establishment for the first time and reviewing it will probably be new to the area and comparing it to a larger place, or too young to have seen the longevity of Stop & Play. If you want to beat the heat or get out of the rain! Great place. Don't go in looking for great food or a great trade in on tickets. It is what it is. Plan on dropping .50-1.00 per game, so I would say each person gets so much then you are done. Pin ball is my favorite but always seems to break so you are limited. Lots of animated games, like riding motorcycles and shooting, also plenty of quick ticket gambling games ... stay away from those. Set your money limited and explain to kids when your done you are done! Staff is always friendly and we do have fun as a family when we go. No other game room choices in area so even coming from Hernando county it is still family fun. read more

There is one table in this whole place that has access to a power outlet. I brought my laptop so I could work while my kids spent the afternoon playing. The table was roped off because it's the one they use for parties. I asked if there was going to be a party today and they said NO. I asked if I could please use that table and explained why. He went to "consult his general manager" and then came back and said NO without an explanation. The manager wouldn't show their face either. Wow...... Really?? Stupid and stingy in my opinion for no reason!! We'll stay today, because we're already here. But we will not be back!! Booooooo!! read more

We came for a birthday party and they told us we needed to leave the area and we stated we were almost done with the presents and she said I don't care we will have to charge you then started cleaned up and moving our stuff. Do NOT come here if you ever plan to take photos or videos anywhere inside, even if they only include you, your family, or nobody at all. When reading this review keep in mind that as of now they DO NOT have a "No Cameras allowed" or anything of the sort sign anywhere, not outside, inside, or on their website. Really sucks that I have to leave this review, but they left me no choice. I am like the other reviewer who has a run in with the rude manager. Basically, I was showing off the arcade stuff they had, the claw machines, pinballs, etc while also filming myself, and my mom. We even passed about 2-3 different workers while doing so, no problem. After getting about half way through, the manager comes up to us and asks why I was filming, I told her, and she said that the owner does not allow filming of any kind. I said "oh okay, I'm sorry" and shut the camera off and put it in my pocket. I then said that I was surprised because other arcades and minigolf places love it when you film and take photos and she snapped back at me and said "Well we are NOT like other arcades" and then walked off. We were kind of shocked at the reply, but continued to finish looking at the arcade stuff (something we actually planned on doing after looking as well as the minigolf). After finishing looking, I decided to go back and asked her if it was okay to upload what I already filmed already when it doesn't include any other person in the arcade, and she still told me no. I then asked her if there were any actual signs that say not to film, and she also told me there weren't and then rudely told me how she doesn't want to argue about this any more and then proceeded to go behind the counter to ignore us. After that, instead of playing minigolf or any of the arcades, we left right then and there. If you want no cameras, while that's very stupid to say, especially when people want to take photos and videos when they have a birthday party, that's 1 thing. But then treating your customers, or potential customers like crap when they weren't rude to you in any way is the fastest way to lose customers. When you change your no camera policy, your manager, or at least your managers attitude, let me know, but until then, we will not be coming back, and will make sure to let others know of our other recommendations instead. Took our grandson here to play because it was to cold to go to the park. Lets just say no bathrooms working so you could not wash your hands , thank goodness I had hand sanitizer with me. The place is dirty and old. Older kids were playing in the kiddy area and climbing all over the baby toys that look like they were ready to fall apart. Oh yeah worker went into bathroom and was pouring what looked like water it the toilet. The party tiger that comes out for the kids is the same costume that they used at least 16 years ago for my sons birthday party gross. read more

Like everyone else said this place is pretty much a dump. Over a dozen games out of order you wonder how they can stay in business. Pinball, only one machine in operation and that was bride of pinbot. The other 3 were turned off, out of order. Management in this place is really rude as well. Heard them yelling at customers. Not the way to keep customers coming into an arcade that's for sure. read more

I choose to take a friend and son there today the Manager Disarray if that's her name was disrespectful to say the least ,I thought that maybe this is a place I could take my son a couple of days week for fun..But after the way I was treated ,I will not be back and will let others know not to go..if that is how management handles there customer's owners should seriously reconsider new management.. read more

This place is a blast! My 3 year old and 14 year old son and I have a blast when ever we go. we come about once or twice a month or whenever I can. I have been going here since I was a kid so I tell everyone about Stop N Play because they have many games that i love like the old school pac man pinball and they have golf indoor for the kids plus most of the staff , Jannet ,Dianne, Paige and Ashley are so friendly and you dont get them kind of people just any where. I would give this place 10 stars if I could. The only thing I would complain about is waiting for other kids to choose a prize. other then that this place is awesome and always has been. read more
