Nice little gem situated on the Erie canal. They used to be on main street in Brockport, a small college town but have moved across the street and down the canal a bit. It gave them more deck and indoor space as well as a spot for boats to dock as they motor down the canal. This review doesn't include the food. We stopped here just for a couple of drinks with our God son and his wife up from NC . We each had a couple of beers and everyone seemed very satisfied with their choices. We sat out on the deck which runs along the canal. It has ample room and contains several tables that accommodate seating for four. Nice atmosphere sitting there watching the boat traffic go by and the main street bridge go up and down. They have several tables inside if the weather isn't cooperating to sit outside. Our server was friendly and made sure we were properly taken care of. The menu looked interesting therefore we will come back and try having a lunch or dinner in the future. read more

I went here on a whim, because with a lot of different beer options in 4 packs I did not want to buy something I wouldn't drink. This was a cute tucked away place with decent parking on the water. There were not a lot of people so parking was adequate. It is very open and immediately I enjoyed the ambience. It had a modern cabin in the lake vibe, sans fireplace, with a good laid back music that was loud enough to enjoy but not a conversation crusher. It was too cold to sit outside so I didn't get to enjoy that. The beer had quite the variety including sours, ales, porters, and IPA. They tried some bold flavors and overall I didn't dislike anything, the chocolate cake porter and beard full of sprinkles top 2. Bartender was very friendly and not in your face. My reason for not 5 star was the menu. I didn't try the food to be honest. It was very basic fried pub food which looked decent, but I've started to appreciate the breweries who really crush the food aspect with local flavors or food variety. We were seated inside after a thirty minute wait... we didn't realize Monday's are 50 cent wing night. But we were so glad it was! I ordered their great lakes aloha ale, a light golden color blonde ale beer with a slight dry taste. For an appatizer I went with the brew house salad, no olives extra onions. The mixed greens were on point, a great balance to go with the wings. There wing selection was awesome. My table went with Country sweet and Garlic Parmesan both extra crispy! Minimum 10 wings per sauce, blue cheese and celery sticks are an extra 50 cents each. No to go boxes for this either, must buy a drink too! The garlic parm were so tasty! Not terribly impressed overall. I would return for drinks, but not for food. First, the menu online included a wild game burger. Come to find out when we arrived, that was no longer on the menu. Second, we arrived around 7pm on a Friday evening, and Stoneyard was out of so many things... the waitress mentioned that they were actually doing pretty well because they were usually out of more things by that point in the night. Service was pretty bad. We had to ask for water 3 times because the waitress kept forgetting. I ordered the grilled southwest chicken entree. The chicken was overcooked but still warm, while the rest of the entree was cold. The person I was with ordered the Dube burger, which was supposed to come topped with a bratwurst, beer mustard, and some other things. When the food arrived to our table, the waitress said they were out of bratwurst and she would take $5 off the bill as a result. I appreciate that she took money off the bill, but the absence of bratwurst should have been communicated much earlier...not when the food arrived. Because the addition of the bratwurst was the whole reason for ordering that particular burger. The burger was also missing the beer mustard. Basically it was an $11 (with the $5 discount) cheeseburger... Like I said before, I would recommend the place to grab a drink and sit by the canal, but not for food. read more

I went here for lunch with some colleagues. The menu had a variety of options from apps to soups and salads, burgers, sandwiches, and full dinners if you wanted them. I had the honey fried chicken on biscuits and it was very good. It came with sweet fries that were also very good, but I had to ask for honey because I love to dip my sweet fries in honey butter - but honey will do in a pinch. The biscuits were light but nice and toasty. They could have been a bit more "moist" (sorry about that word). The chicken seemed to be dark meat but was tender and tastey with a crispy outside. The portion was large - I took one of the biscuit "sandwiches" home. My colleagues seemed to enjoy their burgers. I will return for dinner and beers if I am in the area again. We walked in and it was empty. We should have taken that as a hint not to eat here. We overheard another waitress telling a table about 50 cent wings, which our waitress neglected to tell us about. My boyfriend and I got 10 hot wings and shared a beef on weck. I was also going to get a Reuben but they were out of corned beef. The wings were decent - Crispy and a pretty good size, but nothing to rave about. I thought the beef on weck was very greasy and didn't eat much of it. The food and service was sub par. The worst part was that the waitress charged us for the blue cheese and celery, without telling us it would be extra. I was very disappointed by my experience. One of my favorite things about cycling the Erie Canal Bicycle path is finding cool places to stop along the way. Lee and I had planned a trip from Albion to Brockport, and I noticed this place pop up on Google Maps. I suggested it as a place to stop to have lunch during our ride. It was a tiny bit confusing at first. There's no bike racks that we could find, and the signage is a little bit confusing. We locked our bikes up to a railing and headed downstairs. It was pretty busy, but we were told we could sit anywhere, so we grabbed a table by the door (unfortunately all the outside tables were taken.) Friendly waitstaff brought us menus pretty quickly. Lee and I both ordered house beers, because this is a brewery and they make their own beer. I will say that although the beers were really nice, I was a tiny bit disappointed that they only came in 10oz pours. Perhaps I'm spoiled by the plethora of breweries in Buffalo that charge the same price for 16oz pours. The food was great! I really enjoyed their take on poutine, although the beer-battered cheese curds took away from the cheesy meltiness that you normally get from a good poutine. It was made up for by the incredible gravy, infused with their beer. I had the fried chicken on biscuits sandwich, with sweet potato fries. This was delicious. The chicken was fresh and crisp with a great breading. The biscuits were buttery and with a bit of a honey glaze. The sweet potato fries were YUMMY. I love me a good sweet potato fry, and they were half the reason I ordered this sandwich. I highly recommend it. Lee got their Reuben, which was good. He is a bit of a Reuben purist, so he wasn't that happy with coleslaw vs kraut, but he ate it all and seemed to otherwise enjoy it. I stole a bite when he wasn't looking and I thought it was good. We were pretty darn full at the end, so it made for a sluggish (at first) ride back to Albion, because we were weighted down with good food. So when I was searching for a spot to grab some food I was so excited to check Stoneyard out! Walking in I was wondering if we were in the right place because it seemed so small and so simple. Completely dead at 4pm. We sat down and saw the menu and decided we need to eat here! The menu is awesome! Wild game burgers that rotate on the type of meat depending what they happen to get, sandwiches, burgers, and my favorite - Poutine! We had the Poutine to start and we were almost too full for our sandwiches. They used FRIED cheese curds with beer cheese and porter gravy! Follow that up with a Muffaletta - instant food baby. What a disaster. Have been waiting to go to their new location and was completely disappointed. Zero atmosphere and three of us had the prime rib sandwich that was pretty disgusting. Another barely touched the Cubano sandwich. The prime rib was made with an unrecognizable "Yancey" cheesy spread that about turned my stomach. My wife and step son could barely eat theirs. There is one big room. Noisy. Cheap furniture. Good service. Would grab a burger on the patio overlooking the canal, but won't waste my money on dinner there again. read more

Been going there with my classmates for drinks every other week or so. Ambiance and service are both great. Good wine selection. I haven't tried much by way of food, but I can say the mashed potatoes, broccoli, and Caesar salad are all excellent. And the cocktails are nice and stiff; I had a Hot Toddie there last week. My bartender didn't know how to make it, but instead of denying me, looked up the recipe and executed it to perfection. It seems like a great place so far. read more

Trekked out to Stoneyard Brewing in Brockpart because of some of the Yelp reviews that raved about the house-made beers. Felt quite deflated once I got there and realized that the majority of those beers on tap are not Stoneyard's and the ones made by them are somewhat mediocre. Just my opinion, though. It's got a cute location on the Erie Canal and is very cozy inside; more suited to the winter than the summer, although the outdoor seating on the canal is very warm weather-friendly. Our server and the bartenders were outrageously friendly and definitely made our visit worthwhile. The food was average. I ordered the chicken and biscuits, which did taste great, yes, but the biscuit was a little dry and the fried chicken was overcooked. Something must have been off with the fryer than night, because everything our table ordered that was fried or grilled was on the burned side. Sweet potato fries ok. Overall, I'd go here again if I was in the neighborhood. Probably wouldn't make a special trip from Rochester out there just for the beer/food. read more

I hear this place can get crazy on the weekends, but I know a different side of Stoneyard Grill. The side that's a great go-to for THE BEST CUBAN SANDWICH EVER, as well as a prime location for some between-class-beersky action. All within walking-distance to Brockport campus- you don't even have to lose that shitty parking spot you grabbed that morning that's no where near your classes anyway! They always have some good beers on tap, always have that awesome sandwich available in a reasonable lunch size (the dinner version is bigger, I think), and it was always slow enough in the bar area for me to finish that homework that was due in my next class. Perfect! Now, I'm not saying everyone should have an afternoon beer before every night class. That would be wrong. But ya know, one or two stops a month before that 'ol philosophy of somethin' somethin' course probably couldn't hurt. For all I know, it helps! I did graduate at the top of my class, after all. So as long as your not dissecting anything that needs to be put back together, going to phys ed, or driving, then go ahead and stop in for a nice Cuban and an IPA and head back to campus smiling :D (this review is geared towards students because I can literally think of no other reason someone would be in Brockport, NY at any given time.) read more

My wife and I had lunch out there today, we always end up getting wings, she ordered 10 wings half Sweet and Sour, the other half Garlic Parmesan, I ordered 10 all Cajun. The guys that do cook these wings manage to make them crispy each and every time. We travel from Gates to Brockport a few times a year to get these Outstanding Wings, they have a legend sauce it's not for the weak at heart. The Wait Staff is very tentative, and very polite. The Stoneyard is a decent place to get a drink or a bite to eat - although if you stay too late (past 10:30) expect to get blasted out by the music, in preparation for a massive influx of students. The service is so-so.. the servers don't put too much effort into attentiveness or friendliness. They have a lot of beers on tap, which is their specialty, but perhaps as a result less options for other alcohol types. The food is good, everyone seems to enjoy the variety of (very fried) options. The gluten free and vegetarian options are few, but they have an excellent portabello salad that is safe with the balsamic vinaigrette Inside there are enough TVs that multiple different games can be shown at the same time, which is great if you want to watch something you can't catch at home.The outdoor patio is sandwiched between the high cement walls of the Erie Canal, the building, and the dumpsters - which lend a putrid smell to your food if the wind is blowing the right way. On a sunny day, sitting outside near the canal eating a Cubano sandwich and sipping their house IPA is honestly one of the most enjoyable things I can think to do in the area. I'm serious about that Cubano... I'm to the point where i'll buy two just so I can take one home for lunch or dinner the next day. Their appetizers are great too. Especially the pretzel sticks and dipping sauce. They have a pretty cozy sports-bar type upstairs area for seated eating, and the downstairs has a full bar with access to the outdoor seating near the canal. The full menu was available at the lunch hour; however, each feature was at a reasonable cost. The seal of greatness was in the tender, juicy, perfectly seared strip steak, complimented with red potato mash and the best garlic toast I personally have ever had. The only thing missing was the signature onion ring our server mentioned when ordering. I would hope the onion ring would have added a sweet, crunchy perk to the already delicious steak. Amazing!!! Even if a little bit pricey compare to other restaurants on Main Street, still its worth it. Ordered their poutine and Chicken Riggies. One of the best poutine I ever had; loved the beer battered cheese curd. The Chicken Riggies was really good too. They give a good portion of food, couldn't finish any of the dishes so end up taking them home. My friend ordered chicken wings as she loves chicken wings. Her opinion, "The best chicken wings she ever had!!!" She also ordered Friday Fish Fry, which she really liked it. Plan on going there again in the future. read more

From their IPAs, to their orange peel pale ale (Everyman Pale Ale is delicious!), to their rye porter and coffee stout, the beer is top-notch. Amazing what can be brewed in an old elevator shaft. Additionally, there are always excellent non-Stoneyard beers on tap, and the food is outstanding. Whether you order the wings, poutine, pub pretzels, or one of their excellent burgers or sandwiches, you won't be disappointed. I Just love this place. Bf & I have been going here for about 2 years I can't say enough good things about it. He's a bit of a CUBANO aficionado and I love loved the RIPPER sandwich .. Which they discontinued ... Perhaps I was the only one eating it regardless this place just feels like home. Tonight the hostess recognized the 2 of us and we spent our time waiting (not long .. 15 minutes maybe) in the downstairs area.. Completely happy.. In the bar. Awesome tap selection.. And they are very happy to give u tastes of the beers on tap I had the Cali burger YUM and bf had his fav. CUBANO which he claims is the best in the area. Found this place while visiting Brockport. Located on the main st right next to the Erie Canal. We were seated upstairs where there are mainly just tables and chairs, Did not go downstairs, but I understand there is a full bar with inside and outside seating. We were seated and given a menu, which had a nice variety of sandwiches, burgers, wings, salads...etc. 3 out of the 4 at our table chose items with chicken only to be told by the server when placing our orders that they were out of grilled chicken breasts and only had fried. Who runs out of chicken at a restaurant? So back to the menu to make another choice... Asian Salad with salmon was very good, a nice mixture of greens with roasted red peppers, cucumbers, mandarin oranges and crunchy noodles. Buffalo Chicken Salad (with fried chicken) was equally as tasty with mixed greens, cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses, tomatoes...etc. Did not taste the Ditullio sandwich, but hubs said it was very tasty. A panini of sorts with ham, pepperoni, provolone, cheddar and banana peppers. Also did not taste the wings but were told the hot version had a great flavor. Our waitress was very nice, attentive, and did a good job. So why the 4 stars? We waited a long time for our food - much longer than an average waiting time. Second reason is that there was no chicken, unless you wanted deep fried. Would have liked to have known BEFORE we ordered that there was no chicken since we all spent several minutes perusing the menu and choosing an item. We've been frequenting the Stoneyard ever since it opened and it remains one of the best spots in town. Which gets me to my point- no other establishment has even close to 1 Brennan behind the bar. Maybe in name, but not this guy. Very nice to everyone despite his natural tendencies as an Irishmen.
