We hired this company months ago to do bathroom vanities. Despite the project itself dragging on nearly 60 days past due, it has come to my attention today that as of Thanksgiving they hadn't even started the work. Due to a misunderstanding, we had a falling out over the kitchen counters. Despite apologizing very politely to this lady, she threw middle fingers in response and told us to find somebody else to do the remaining work. Really not classy behavior at all. So we were forced, last minute to find a new fabricator. And that fabricator just now informed me that she had done literally zero work despite being given this job months ago. As a result, I will now be displaced from my home through the holidays on a project that was already 2 months late. In other words a she had extra extra time to finish. Let alone start. This is unacceptable service. And how she rudely handled the apology really rubbed me the wrong way as well. Also, I don't lie. Ever. So whatever nonsense she writes below this review, take it with a grain of salt. I love writing five star reviews for good service. I hate having my timeline and life disrupted by contractors who don't care about delivering in a reasonable timeframe. read more

When it sometimes seems like poor customer service, shoddy business practices and untrustworthy or unreliable contractors are the norm rather than the exception, I'm thrilled to be able to write this review of Stone Works Marble & Granite and give them a solid 5/5 stars all around. I've been working to renovate and update my kitchen. I planned to do all the work myself, except for the installation of the countertops. After checking the usual suspects like Lowes, Home Depot and even a few of the granite yards off the Palmetto, I did a Google Search and found this company that was running a special - Granite countertops fully installed for $26.99/square foot. Since Home Depot was charging upwards of $30 per square foot w/ install for formica counters and $50/square foot for granite, I decided to check this company out. I'm glad I did. According to Stone Works' website, the granite showroom they use is just off the Palmetto/826. I drove there one Friday afternoon and found a few slabs of granite that I liked. As I left, before I had the chance to walk to my car, my cell phone rang. It was Sebastian from Stone Works. He was prepared to come to my place and take measurements the next morning! Unfortunately I was about to go out of town for a few days, but he made an appointment to come and see me the morning after I got back. He arrived right on time to do the measurements and estimate. I figured that the $26.99/sq. ft price with install was a hook, and that there'd be all kinds of hidden charges for things like finishing the edges, etc. I was wrong. He quoted me the sale price for everything and I had the choice of 4 edge profiles at no extra charge. He included the backsplashes in his measurements and offered to include an undermounted sink for a price that was in line or cheaper than comparable sinks at the big box hardware stores. He also suggested that I consider another style of granite that he thought would be better than the one I'd initially picked out (as it turns out, the slab I'd initially liked had a flaw and discoloration of the stone at the far end that I didn't see. I'm thankful he was honest about that and gave me a heads' up!). He also made a suggestion to bring the backsplash in one area up a bit higher than my old formica one, and also made a suggestion about which type of faucet might look best (I needed to supply my own, but they'd install it). Within less than a week after measurement day, he called and said he was ready to return and do the installation. It was 1 week exactly between the day he took measurements and I placed the order until the time the install was done. This was amazingly quick, and much faster than the big box hardware stores could've offered, I'm sure! Sebastian and his assistant arrived right at the scheduled time to begin the install. Right away they spread out a tarp in my living room to protect the carpet before spreading out their tool boxes, they set up an area on the balcony to do any on-site cutting that might be needed, and they had a wet vac with them to clean up as they went along. They even had a bucket to put my p traps in once they removed the sink so they wouldn't get water anywhere! They removed and disposed of my old countertops for me, they left my old sink and faucet, installed the new countertops and glued them into place, cemented the 1 joint that was necessary for them to make (my kitchen is in a "U" shape, and still they did the entire thing with only 1 joint...Otherwise it's seemless!), they caulked all the joints and along the tops of the backsplashes and vacuumed, swept and cleaned up very well after themselves. They took great care in their work, made sure everything fit properly and was level, scraped away all excess caulking and cement, and even polished everything up! They were very courteous, and every time they needed to use my bathroom, even if it was just to get water to use for the work they were doing, they let me know first. That wasn't really necessary, but it was appreciated and it shows that they care about their customers. This company accepts credit cards or checks, and if you pay w/ credit, they have an electronic card swipe machine with them which will print out the receipt on the spot for you to sign. Again, a sign of a bona fide business. Before leaving, Sebastian offered to return and drill new holes in the counter for me if I ever got a new dish washer which had a different mounting than my current one does. In all, this was a great experience, Stone Works was a great company to work with, they were reliable, they did great work and took pride in what they did, and according to their website they're licensed and insured. Most importantly, the sale price they advertised on their website (which was very attractive) was the actual price I paid. There were no hidden costs, no bait and switch. Three months ago I contacted Sebastian through several referrals from close personal friends. My meetings with Sebastian were always pleasant and he had to come to my home an additional time to re- measure as there was a change in one of the cabinets. He also provided the sink as part of the deal which was great. On the day of installation all went smooth and he was rendered payment. I wasn't living in the home at the time of instillation so when I moved in I noticed that there was a slight imperfection where two of the pieces joined (there was a small lip when you ran your hands on the Quartz). I immediately texted Sebastian about the slight imperfection. His response was not what I thought it would be. I kept the texts so I'm quoting .. I explained the following "Hi. I just moved in and in cleaning the Quartz I noticed that where the two pieces of countertop meets it is not properly aligned and smooth. It really should be perfectly joined. How could this be rectified?" His response "It cant its a joint never perfect" My response "Umm after 3600 I should not feel the Quartz sticking a little up" He responded the following " The joint its becuase the counter top its too long. The one on the bar top its perfect because it was done on the factory.But the one you metioned its allway like that some times better but sometimes worse" At that point I said "This is not the customer service response I thought I would be receiving from such a big company but ok that's fine I will put that on my review . Thanks " His response "Please also mention that i gave you 400 off plus i had to come back to remake a template because you change the cabinet" Here is where I had a problem. I have an issue when I'm paying for a service and I'm being treated like they are doing me a favor. He proceeded to text me back stating to let him know if I needed anything and that he wanted for me to be happy with the countertops. At that point I said no thanks. He also reach out a week later and left a message but I decided to let it go. I had another company complete the cabinetry work who saw the minor imperfection and explained that could be buffed out. I had another company who came over quoting me countertops for my master bath and they stated the same. Not sure why this transaction went left when there was a simple solution. All in all, the kitchen came out great and I would have given five stars if my last interaction would have been different. read more

I got a quote from this place thanks to the Yelp reviews. And I'm happy to say that they deserve their 5-star rating. My estimate came from Olivia via email, who replied promptly with a quote for granite countertops, sink, and old countertop removal using the measurements / photos I provided. They came in cheaper than the other two quotes I had received from family-recommended companies. Sebastian was the individual who did the detailed measurements and quote at my home. No upcharges and no surprises, which is always good news. He came with various samples and an iPad to show me what these countertops look like when installed in various types of kitchens. On a side note, I am very impressed with how well this company uses technology, the web, social media, text messages for updates/images, etc. Always a pleasure for a techie like me. Being so impressed with the professionalism of this first visit and the overall price, I went ahead and gave my deposit. A couple of weeks later, Sebastian came back with his crew and completed the installation in an afternoon. I have absolutely no complaints and the kitchen looks amazing. The process was fast & easy and like every other reviewer, we highly recommend them! From our initial inquiry, we were confident we were working with the right company. We called and were instructed to go to the granite supplier's warehouse to pick the granite of our choice. Then, Sebastian from Stone Works met us at our home to measure and create a stencil of the counters. And by the next week, he returned and had the granite installed beautifully within 3 hours. After searching through many companies for quartz countertops in Miami, I found Stone Works on Yelp and decided to call them after reading so many good reviews. Sebastian called me the same evening and the next day he came to take measurements and give me the estimate. His next visit was two days later when he made the template. Initially I wanted the Compac Absolute Blanc; however, he told me that he had not very good references about the continuous care required to mantain this color, so he recommended the Glaciar, which is not pure white but a little more neutral. Three weeks later he came with his crew of two more people and in about 4 hours I had my new countertop and backsplash installed. I have to say that I'm very happy with this company and particularly with Sebastian who was very respectful all the time and always keeping in touch with me until the very last day when they finally completed the installation. I could say a lot of good things about him and this company but their professionalism, punctuality, competitive price, quality... are just some of the many reasons I would highly recommend Stone Works to everyone! read more

Unbelievably gorgeous!!!!! Wow!! That's all I can say about a truly FANTASTIC JOB. Sebastien was incredibly professional, showing up on time, returning phone calls and doing a superior job... he is a perfectionist. I had several complicated window frames with ledges and curved cut outs on my 1930's home. He cut the stone in such a precise manner, following the delicate curves of the window, making perfect window ledges, creating a solid back splash with no seams and practically invisible space between the upper cabinets. I would highly highly recommend this company for not only their BEAUTIFUL WORK but their UNBEATABLE PRICES. The quote was the lowest I had received and Sebastien stuck to the price. Well, the reviews are right, they did a great job. Highly professional company with Sebastian as its leading man. Were always on time for appointments and kept their word on every promise. The installation was done yesterday and it was flawless, needless to saw clean and professional. Their price was the lowest from the quotes I received and included the mount and installation of a new sink. We bought a home a year ago and needed to match the existing quartz counter tops. Stoneworks (Sebastian) came out, measured and return in a few weeks with the perfect match. He was quick, and very precise. We just installed wine fridges and cabinet and I again needed a matching quartz top. They had a piece in stock that was a perfect match, but needed to be seamed. It was quite a bit less expensive than ordering a whole new slab, but I was afraid I would hate the seam every time I looked at it! Guess what? I cannot see it at all! Thanks again Sebastian. I don't usually write reviews, because I don't like to take the time to do so. However, when I have an exceptionally good, or an exceptionally bad experience, I might take time to write one. Such is the case here. After getting several countertop quotes through Angie's List, someone told me about Yelp. I was impressed with the reviews of Stone Works, so I contacted them. It took me several tries before I was ever able to reach someone, but when I did, I got an appointment for someone to come and give me an estimate. Sebastian arrived at the appointed date (10/28/13), and he did his measurements, and talked with us about what we wanted. He was courteous, and seemed knowledgeable. When he left, we had a written estimate, and a verbal agreement that we would go to a showroom nearby (to which Sebastian had directed us), in order to see other granite choices. He said that we could pick one there, and that within two weeks it would be installed. The next day my wife & I went to the showroom, and picked the granite that we wanted. We tried to reach Sebastian to let him know we had picked our granite choice, but he didn't answer his phone, so we left a message. Over the next week or so, I attempted numerous times to reach Sebastian, leaving messages, but he would not return my calls. I was concerned about getting a job only partially finished and having a mess during Thanksgiving, or about not getting it done at all, and getting pushed into the next year. Finally when I spoke to Sebastian, he stated that there would be no way to get our job done before Thanksgiving. I was OK with that, but I clearly expressed that I wanted to have an appointment for early in the week right after Thanksgiving, to be sure our countertop project would be finished before Christmas. He promised that he would call me the week of Thanksgiving, and let me know what day of the following week they would come. Thanksgiving came and went, and Sebastian did not call. On the Monday following, my wife and I began attempting to contact him. We called several times a day, leaving kind messages, and asking that he call us back, so we could know the status of our project, or otherwise make different plans if necessary. This went on for about 4 days. Finally, I decided to call from a different telephone number, and immediately Sebastian answered. He gave me a lousy excuse for not returning our calls. Then he explained that Stone Works was not taking any new jobs. I explained that mine wasn't new, because the process had begun with a written estimate on 10/28. He said that it was not a current job, because I had not made a down payment. I explained that nobody had asked for one, and that I was more than willing to make the payment. Still the answer was no. Still wanting to use Stone Works, I asked for a firm date - even in January - that I could put on my calendar, and know that they would come. He firmly stated that Stone Works couldn't give me any such date -- just that they would not be taking any more new jobs until the new year. I asked him to be honest and just tell me if for whatever reason, they didn't want to do our job. He wouldn't make such a statement, but just kept saying that Stone Works wouldn't be doing any new jobs before the new year. Even so, there was a refusal to give me any kind of an appointment to get our job rolling in the new year. Having been misled, lied to, and blown off like that, I decided not to risk waiting till January, only to be put off a few more months once again. That same day (12/5) I called some other companies for some estimates. One, Half Price Countertops, came to give me an estimate the same day that I called (12/5), and gave me a reasonable estimate, even lowering it some to come very close to Stone Work's estimate. He promised, even writing it in the contract, that the project would be completed no later than 12/14. Today as I write, it is 12/9, and Half Price has been here, and already completed the installation of our granite countertop. They did a good job, even though I was a little nervous because of the Yelp ratings that were not so high. They explained everything, did their work professionally, and cleaned up after themselves. Although I paid about $80 more, I got a job that from first contact, to finished job, took only four days. Compared to Stone Works, where six weeks after my written estimate, I couldn't get anything but wishy washy excuses, I am quite pleased. My advice: If you want a great price, and good promises that might not be backed up with any action, choose Stone Works. I found Sebastian to have great salesmanship skills, but to be dishonest. I'm glad that I didn't let him keep up his deceptions with our kitchen. read more
