I don't take writing negative reviews lightly, but I feel a strong obligation to warn others about…read moremy experience with Fabienne Debaix of Blue Iguane. What was supposed to be a straightforward project turned into a chaotic and financially draining ordeal, primarily due to this contractor's complete lack of professionalism, skill, and ethics. From the very beginning, it became clear that she was not competent in managing even the most basic aspects of construction. She repeatedly demonstrated a poor understanding of local building codes and construction practices--something no licensed general contractor should be unfamiliar with. I frequently found myself double-checking decisions, only to discover that what was being done either didn't meet code or was completed with poor detail. Scheduling was another major issue. She routinely forgot to schedule required inspections, which led to delays and created serious problems with permits and approvals. On multiple occasions, she missed scheduled appointments without notice or explanation. These weren't one-off slip-ups--this was a pattern of irresponsibility. Financially, things went from bad to worse. She took money for work that was either never started or only half-finished, and then attempted to rewrite parts of the contract to remove work that had already been paid for. These weren't honest mistakes--they were calculated attempts to cut corners and extract more money. It felt like being scammed by someone who had no regard for their legal or ethical responsibilities. She placed a lien on my property for an amount that was grossly inflated and far beyond what was actually owed. This false claim forced me to retain legal counsel in order to get the lien removed and the amount corrected--yet another unnecessary cost and source of stress created by her mishandling of the project. What made matters even worse was the complete disregard for my property. During demolition, reusable fixtures and working appliances were recklessly damaged or destroyed--despite clear instructions to preserve them. It was as if there was no care taken to differentiate between trash and salvageable items. Speaking of trash, rather than properly disposing of demolition debris, she left piles of garbage and discarded materials right on my driveway, creating an eyesore and a hazard that I ended up having to deal with myself. The problems extended to her team as well. Multiple subcontractors expressed frustration and concern--some told me directly that they hadn't been paid or were avoiding further work with her due to ongoing issues. When a general contractor can't earn the trust of their own subs, you know something is deeply wrong. Summary of Issues: * Incompetent with building codes and inspections * Repeatedly missed or forgot key appointments * Dishonest with payments and contract changes * Placed a fraudulent lien on my property, requiring legal action to resolve * Destroyed reusable fixtures and damaged appliances * Left demolition debris on-site, cluttering my driveway * Subcontractors openly stated they couldn't trust or rely on her This was not just a case of a project gone sideways--this was a deeply unprofessional and unethical contractor who had no business taking on work of this nature. If you're considering hiring Fabienne Debaix, I urge you to think twice. Do your due diligence, ask for multiple references, and seriously consider another contractor. Save yourself the time, money, and stress.

The biggest problems were poor communication, no reliable schedule, and inconsistent crews, despite initially being told we would have a set crew. A major mistake early in the project required work to be completely redone, and our estimated 5-6 week renovation stretched well beyond that timeline, with additional workmanship issues continuing through the end. We were repeatedly expected to be understanding of mistakes and delays, yet when I wanted to change the paint color near completion, I was quoted an additional $500. They later offered to comp the repaint after another issue with the pony wall, but by then I simply wanted the project finished. Most disappointing was that their group chat specifically encouraged us to voice concerns so they could make things right. When I finally expressed how dissatisfied I was with the experience, I received no response--only a request for final payment. Our project manager, Chris, was kind, respectful, great with my dogs, and genuinely tried to make things right, which I appreciated. The finished bathroom is beautiful, but the lack of communication, organization, quality control, and significant delays made this an experience I would not repeat.

The workers were incredible working long hours, being courteous to inquiring residents, and ensured that the area exposed was carefully protected to ensure that the area was safe. In an elderly community, that was a critical factor as they are often curious (it helps them to ask questions to occupy some of their time). Your team are dedicated employees and handled interruptions from residents in a friendly manner. The residents in our building are impressed with the job. The repair comprised of removing all the pavers for 12-14 feet, leveling in order to pitch the water retention toward the open area. With a building 40 years old, matching the older pavers was a pleasant surprise to see how closely matched they were. As the Vice President of Bimini Association, I had to relay how happy and appreciative they are with the professional job. No one would ever know that a huge section of repair. The residents especially the residents that were affected by the 3" collection of water from heavy rains that did not dissipate for several days. Obviously, it was imperative that it was done because standing water was a safety hazard. Your company had also done a complete renovation in one of my units on the top floor. I am remiss not taking the time to show my appreciation on behalf of the building residents an myself. The level of professionalism for your team and yourself was outstanding. I t is refreshing to see the owner coming out daily to inspect the progress and the quality of the work performed. Every day whether it was the repair of the major renovation, all the building rules were followed. Your workers made sure on each job you do that the public areas are clean when they leave. I personally appreciated the cleanliness of the area while doing the job and as they left the job each night. Please feel free to share my review of your company and I will be posting it in yelp and google. Thank you again for your attention to detail and pride shown with a beautiful job.
