I had been a huge fan of Stonewall Kitchen Maple Bacon Onion Jam for several years. I bought it whenever I saw it until we got Amazon Prime, then we purchased it regularly. I had a jar in my fridge for a long time, and I was concerned about how safe it was after so much time had passed, so I phoned the company to find out if the jam was still safe to eat. The girl (I say girl because she sounded very young to me) who answered the phone had a curious tone in her voice like she was a teenager who had the day off school that day and was "helping out" around the office for the day. I told her my situation, and she responded sarcastically, "I don't know the answer to your problem but I will make sure someone gets back to you tomorrow morning." I wanted to believe this was just her usual tone of voice, but it felt weird to me. No one ever phoned me back. I threw the jar away, and I have never purchased anything from this company since then. I wish I could give zero stars to this company who obviously has no sense of what customer service means. Never again. read more

Just had another exceptional lunch at Stonewall Kitchen. This place is consistent in the food served from the cafe. We always get their burger, the BEST. With a side of their fries, YUM. I tried the, Caprese Sandwich, w/Fresh mozzarella, basil, tomato, balsamic reduction and housemade basil mayonnaise. Usually Served on a ciabatta roll but I opted for home made white bread. I just oohed and aahhed with every bite, a bit orgasmic sounding for anyone around me, but I didnt' care it was bliss. The basil infused mayo seeped just slightly into the delicious fresh bread making each mouthful a burst of flavors. I'll be back for that one with the white bread vs. Ciabatta (too much pulling and chewing on that stuff for me). Yes stop for a lunch or dessert. Awesome lunch with my wife and a friend today. The place was packed and the crew didn't flinch. I had a very delicious (and large) lobster Mac n cheese which comes with a nice side salad. Mac was creamy & loaded w lobster. Well worth the $20 since I brought 1/2 home for another meal. 2 people could have shared it. My wife had grilled cheese & tomato and a cup of homemade split pea soup. Our friend had the haddock sandwich. Both of them loved theirs. Seating can be a bit dicey when it's busy but we didn't wait more than 5 min and a table opened. Of course we shopped for goodies in the store after. The location of the store is prime; situated among a number of summer destination towns in Maine - this place can get pretty crowded during peak season. The store is large, well stocked, and has pretty much every kind of product Stonewall Kitchen makes. A huge bonus of visiting is the array of free samples they have. Be sure to visit with an empty stomach, because virtually everywhere in the store you'll find samples of their jams, spreads, sauces, and marinades. There is also a small cafe in the store where you can get quick-service items, and they also have a nice outdoors area to relax and take in the atmosphere. Even if you're not looking for anything specific it's a great experience to just visit the store, and you probably will end up getting a thing or two - definitely worth the visit. read more

Came here for the first time for a cooking class demo. This was Passport to India. It consisted of a drink to start, appetizer, main course and a dessert. The place was pretty big and had about 8 big tables that seated 6 people each. There was also some tv screens so you could see no matter where you sat. We were second row so we had a great view of all the action. First we were served then the chef explained/showed us how to make it. It was pretty interesting I felt like I was at a dinner party getting some great food and a show. I usually don't like cooking but going to this class showed me it can be easy if you have practice, follow a recipe and just have some fun with it. Our chef was Krisztina Perron she was fantastic and very relatable and nice. I'd definitely go back and try one of the other classes , maybe one with beer! read more

Cute enough place with a nice cafe, but the clerks need to be trained on what it means to social distance. Shoving their way in front of shoppers in order to restock, replace, or fix a display multiple times within a short period was enough to have us leave the store quickly. read more

Each time I go to Maine I stop at Stonewall to pick up some savory items! I stopped by Monday, October 12th, 2020 at 4:50 pm (just before closing time). I took my items to the counter, which had no other customers. A young lady was emptying boxes in to a closet behind the counter. She saw me but didn't acknowledge me. One of the other cashiers that was on the other side of the counter said: "Hey Olivia, there's a customer waiting..." to which the young lady (Olivia) behind the counter replied: "they can wait a minute it's not like their gonna die or anything." We happened to be there this weekend where an outdoor tent sale was going on - stocked up on TONS of jams, sauces, mustards, etc. that were all at majorly discounted prices despite 2019/2020 expiration dates. Once we got inside, I filled up on the free samples of jams, salsas, savory sauces, dessert sauces, etc. If you are not there for a tour, you can still peek in at the machinery factory. This review is purely for the sugar cookie mix. We do not live in Maine, but bought the mix at a local store in NY. The sugar cookie mix sells for $8, in which you add the butter and egg. My homemade sugar cookies tasted better than these did. I do a lot of baking, so I am very familiar with baking cookies, cakes, etc. I thought for sure these were going to impress me, but they didn't. For $8 which consists of a bag of mix (flour sugar, etc.), it is highly overpriced and not worth the money. Maybe the jams and sauces are better, but I will not be finding out. First off a nice employee told me I wasn't allowed to use this restroom even though I was a patron of their cafe, I was told I had to go wait in line at the company store. I was hostile towards this nice man that was just doing his job! I peed in the woods and came back and I'm glad I did! Ordered my food and noticed there wasn't any almond milk at the coffee station and he overheard me and kindly brought me some almond milk, what a nice man! He didn't have to do that, especially since I was so bitchy! This reminded me to be more kind and more like this man wearing his very festive jack-o'-lantern black and orange mask, he was tall and the man restocking drinks when I went. When I lived in Vermont and Boston, I came up here for a day trip and every time I stopped at Stonewall Kitchen. The complex itself is very big and as other Yelpers have mentioned they have a cafe, cooking classes and plenty of room to shop. I always looked forward to seeing the jams as my grandpa loved me buying the Maine blueberry Champagne jam, it is his favorite, plus they always had some sort of deal on jams. Everyone I dealt with was very nice, and it was also great to see they had samples for customers to try the product before buying. I would recommend stopping by for anyone in the area. This review is for web orders. I've consistently had poor service, now for three consecutive years, this year being their worst. Specifically, I was not told an order was out of inventory when I ordered online and then had to research on my own to find out half of my order was not delivered as a gift. There is more to the story, but they have work to do before they provide the same service as other well known Maine companies. The York location is great and certainly give that high marks. I'll never use their online service again, but will certainly stop by the York location. read more

Fun place to visit and shop - though the prices are the same as you'd find at any store that carries Stonewall Kitchen. People were flocking to the samples right around lunch time - kind of funny. We ate lunch on the little patio there. My wife had the lobster BLT - yummm. I had the pilgrim sandwich and we shared some pretty awesome sweet potato fries. Farmhouse waffle and pancake mix absolute disappointment it came with high regards and reviews but upon making they were visibly dry after adding more than the recommended liquid and crumble into sawdust if you try to maneuver the waffle tastes floury and bland the recipe didn't call for vanilla extract so I just thought to put it in and even with the added flavor all you could taste was a bland breakfast cake not worth anymore than a single star read more

We will never do business with Stonewall Kitchen again. We are LONG time customers and this year their customer service reached a new low as we were treated horribly by them. Extremely rude and unprofessional agent, transferred all over the place several times, no follow up or communication from Management. Had to call for 2 days to finally get a refund on perishable items that would be received 5 days late. Ruined our Christmas Breakfast party with family and will never subject ourselves to such a horrible experience again. If you are interested in great food products and awesome customer service, you couldn't ask more from a company. I have enjoyed the line of products and have been amazed by their friendly and responsive customer service. I recently had an online order that was shipped and not received. UPS showed it delivered. I called Stonewall and explained the situation. They apologized for the problem and the next day the same order was shipped out again. No charge to me. I love going to the store, there are so many wonderful items to discover. The downside and reason for the 3 stars is the cafe. I have always avoided the cafe because I was not impressed the last time I ate there, I had their lobster salad sandwich, lobster rolls are a lot better in other eateries. I was invited to lunch there the other day, and I didn't want to make a fuss, so I thought I'd make do with a salad. I ordered the Solstice salad. I asked that they exclude the blue cheese, and asked for an alternate roll because the one that is served with the salad has cheese on it. Not really asking for much. The person barked that she has to charge me extra for a regular roll, fine. My salad arrived without the roll, I had to stand at the counter and wait to get what I had asked and paid extra for. Didn't finish the roll because it had a distinct aroma of bacon grease. The salad was a disaster. It was a cup of candied pecans with another cup of sweetened dried cranberries, with a sprinkling of greens. Oh there were figs in there too. The cook used as much care in preparing my salad as they did with their last job at McDonalds. Food at the cafe is not cheap, so one would expect a level of pride. I guess I'll just stick to shopping and eating elsewhere. read more

Unfortunately our visit here was only for a brief look around before returning home from our getaway weekend. Just stepping foot into the large showroom was a foodie's paradise. With gadgets and trinkets to help the amateur cook's work around the kitchen a little bit easier. Although greatly overpriced it was good to see what was available out there. I was impressed with the number of samples that were available of different types of sauces and jams. My children impressed with the stickers the attendants had in their pockets to quiet the kids desires to touch everything. The stonewall kitchen was noticeably busier than every other place that we visited in York, ME. Admittedly I had a good time just browsing before my children grew restless and wanted once again to touch everything, that was the cue to tell me my time was up... on to our next adventures. read more

Another well known retail landmark besides LL Bean which has its origins in the state of Maine. Stonewall however has only been around since 1991, therefore its only a baby compared to LL Bean which has been around since 1912. Although young, this company provides delicious preserves, sauces, and meal starting kits. The building has three functions: One is a retail outlet; second is a restaurant/cafe; third is a culinary attraction/school; fourth headquarters and plant where everything is made. If you are obstrusive and curious like me you would gleen everywhere. I went to the cooking school but nothing was taking place then. Retail area was just an extended version of a regular store but worthwile to check out. I really enjoy being a regular at the location at the Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua NH. Just to give everyone a heads up while driving on route 1 especially from northbound side it will be wasy to miss because the building will not stand out. Also as direction states that it is on 1 literally, but it is a few meters off the maine route on a hidden roadway. read more

Oh my! While I really like their products, my experience placing and trying to get my order was less than acceptable in a lot of ways. I placed the order by phone, was told I would get free shipping for an order over$100 - but was charged $12.95 in shipping. The person said she did not know how to add my email to the order so I could get updates, and the gift card shipped separately from the products and gift message- so the recipient was not even sure who it came from. To top it all off, I had to call four times afterwards to try and get it straightened out. There are plenty of other companies I can buy food gifts from in the future! read more

Dealing with Stonewall Kitchen was a absolute DISASTER!!!!! and never again!!!!!! Here's the short version: SWK literature shows 30% off. Cart at checkout only showed 18% off. After contact - SWK agreed something was wrong and told me to call back Monday. Called Monday - more excuses from SWK. So far, 45 minutes invested in trying to place a simple internet order. 48 hours later, SWK now advised me that my 14 item order was lost. The shopping cart showed only 1 item that I never ordered. I was told to input the 14 items again and then call back if I have a problem - 20 more minutes invested. I asked SWK if they could think of any good reason why I would invest over an hour in my quest to give SWK my money - either now or in the future. SWK told me "I'm sorry for your experience". Five days later I received a hand written letter from Guest Services "Ellen Boucher" telling me how she "truly apologizes" and that she has removed my name, address and e-mail from their listings. What a way to run a business! SWK's job is to get my money. I can understand that issues arise now and again - but these associates that represent SWK only seemed more interested in pushing aside this previous loyal customer that used to spend lots of money on gifts for my family and myself. It is astonishing that Stonewall Kitchen thinks this is a good way to conduct and increase business. They don't factor in that I'm no longer giving them frequent orders, but - I also tell others about this incredible experience. Have been here twice, lunch was delicious the BLT with avocado is great as is the lobster BLT. Today we tried breakfast, the waffle was light and fluffy with tasty fresh fruit and the quiche of the day was delicious. Did a little shopping in the store, Bellini jelly and Maine Woods hand soap. I'm not going to lie, how can I give a place with so many free samples less than five stars? The many free samples help you decide on what kind of flavors you like, my new favorite is peach amaretto jam. They sell a variety of things from jams to salsas and baked goods mixes. I also have eaten at their cafe and the fish sandwich is amazing! The fish is very fresh and don't even get me started on the tartar sauce. Near the jam samples they also offer cards for recipes involving their jams which are lots of fun if you know you want to buy a jam but need inspiration. Plus it's just off of the highway so it's easy to get to and there's no reason why you shouldn't stop by! read more

The products here are all delicious and I love trying out all the samples. I would drive here just to pick up some more of their ketchup. DO try their meatloaf recipe which includes said ketchup and their farm relish. I served it up at a dinner party and there was not a speck of meatloaf left! Otherwise, the jams are yummy as well as the marinade sauces. I had the mango curry one and the chicken was divine! I haven't had a chance to venture to the cafe yet and try anything, but it always smells soooo good! I think I got my fiance hooked on this place too. He was trying samples left and right too, and added his own favorites to my shopping basket.
