We decided to go with laminate again due to its longterm durability, warm and slightly forgiving 'feel' ( especially as opposed to stone or tile), easy care, great new patterns and surfaces, period look (1948 ranch house) and relatively low cost. After examining our kitchen, Pete noted that he had probably installed our old countertops - perfect mitered edges and seams that never faltered over their long run. We got to talking about the durability of formica when it's treated well - no scorching pots, no cutting on the surface - and found out that over the past decades he has installed formica at many of the restaurants as well as doctors and dentists' offices (easy to clean and keep sanitary) around town. Turned out he had just worked on remodeling our periodontist's office and her countertops are beautiful and elegant. She gave him a sterling recommendation. His bid was about the same as others we received and we saw that his craftsmanship and attention to detail was clearly superior. He and his crew are professional and finished our project on time for the bid price. We are very happy with our new countertops. Highly recommended.

Recently, I bought a house that had very shiny marble kitchen counters. I can't emphasize enough…read morehow much I dislike shiny! NO SHINY in my house. So I set out to research how to have someone "hone" my counters. Bingo! found a local guy who came and did the job for me only to realize marble still etches (stains you can't get out). UGH!! Everytime you use any type of citrus that could spray onto the counters ( think squeezing a little lime into a gin and tonic!) There's just no avoiding it and boy is it irritating! it's an instant stain you will never get out! Long story, but I just happen to see a commercial on TV talking about "Tuff Skin", basically a coating that protects your counters and can't etch! BINGO! and it comes in shiny or "honed"......it's a dream! it never etches and my marble counter looks perfectly new! In addition, it's much cheaper than replacing the counter which I mulled over for months! Also, the company that provides this is the only company in Santa Barbara county licensed to do this and they are incredibly professional, on-time and they will go out of their way to make sure everything is done to perfection. I really couldn't be happier!!

I am sorry i don't have before and after but will try to find some older images and update. Here is what you need to know: 1. Skip gives the estimate. He and Brandee are the owners. They are the only ones in the area with the license for the TuffSkin. 2. They used a low dust diamond like abrasive tool to get out the etches often from glasses and citrus. Keep in mind we had a DIFFERENTcompany come out a year before hand and they made a mess, did not get all of the etching out and peeled off our custom tape in their hurry to take down plastic. Low dust, Precision and Attention to Detail. And they got out the etching!! 3. Then they put on the Tuff Skin that can then withstand citrus, many chemicals and heat. It cannot take scratching from moving a computer around or such. We don't know what caused all the scratching. I prefer the scratches to the etching, though and the place looks great!! 4. We had a few speedbumps and Skip handled it like a pro. This is the test of a great business. We are so grateful to Skip, Brandee, his foreman and team for their diligence, care and integrity!. I would recommend them 100% and indeed I have!

I contacted them first when I wanted to put in a small (12 square feet) tile backsplash in our kitchen. Other than behind the stove, I'm happy with the look of the tile (see before and after photos). They also cleaned up after themselves. However, I remain quite dissatisfied with how the negotiating and project completion processes went. I am unlikely to work with this company again or recommend it to others. I described the work I wanted to be done to Mr. Moreno and we verbally agreed on it. He did not offer, nor did we ask to get the estimate in writing. I strongly encourage you to do so if you are considering working with this company. Mr. Moreno did not complete what he verbally had agreed to do based on the original bid (move the stove back and install a row or two of tiles below the edge of the stovetop), added charges on to the initial quote, and did not offer to fix an electrical problem that his company created so we had to pay an electrician $85 for the repair.

My wife…read moreand I recently bought a fixer-upper with Spanish clay tiles that had been neglected for years. We had two main goals: first, we wanted to remove the dark stains that felt outdated and clashed with the modern Spanish interior vibes we were going for. Second, the tiles desperately needed to be resealed - walking around barefoot felt rough, and we were constantly collecting dust on our feet. The job Carmen and Octavio did was fantastic. Over five days, they meticulously stripped off the dark stains and took the time to properly reseal the tiles. Afterward, walking around barefoot felt incredibly smooth and uniform. The floors themselves look so much brighter now and beautifully complement the warmer colors inside our home. The price we were quoted was very reasonable compared to other alternatives, and we couldn't be happier with the results.
