The best stop on a cross country drive. Not a typical 60's era motel. This place is completely modernized and the landscaping is beautiful. After a long day on and off the road it was nice to have discovered this gem. Breakfast was 5 star all the way. When they state they make everything they aren't kidding. Don't pass this place off when looking for lodging you won't be sorry! read more

No cell service, dry town, over priced bland restaurants, dirty bathrooms. Need I say more? Don't walk barefoot in your room whatever you do. There's hair on the bathroom floor and it's not ours. Looks like it hasn't been properly mopped in way too long. Added: pretty large spider in our room I killed. Over 1 week traveling and no bugs til here. read more

Internet 0/5 Breakfast 5/5 Room: 4/5 I tried for days to get internet. When it connected it clocked less than 1 Mbps; unusable. The room was ok. The best thing, as others have mentioned, is the breakfast. They had tasty fresh baked pasties, savory and sweet varieties. They appear to have a nice patio but it's winter and I couldn't really enjoy it. read more

Stone Lizard Lodge - Every night. - Hotels Near Me - Blanding, Utah

Enjoyed our cozy stay here with our little doggy. Comfy bed and great breakfast offered through these Covid times. Look forward to staying here on our return! read more

Lovely little lodge in a quaint little town. The attention to detail and friendly service is awesome. I really enjoyed the garden, in particular. Great place to go star gazing. Super quiet, accommodating to my dietary needs, and just really great overall! read more

We stayed at the Stone Lizard Lodge a week before Christmas. When we arrived the small reception area was fragrant with cinnamon as the front staff (I didn't get her name!) was making rolls for breakfast the next morning. What a nice welcome! The rooms, tho on the small side, were recently painted, very clean and well furnished. Beds were comfortable, shower was hot and the towels were as big and fluffy as you would find in a major spa. And did I mention breakfast? Even with COVID, you get a choice of several very wonderful home-made choices - all to go. And you can get more than one if you ask! The staff was very helpful and very friendly. Don't let the look of an older motel fool you - this place is wonderful! As another guest has said, this is a real gem! read more

Such a charming place to stay. There is a lot of thought put into the aesthetics of this place. Stayed here a week for training and definitely felt comfortable while being away from home. Every morning there is a homemade hot breakfast pocket waiting in the breakfast area. There are also yummy banana bread and hot fresh cinnamon rolls. One night my wifi went out and was immediately restored. Staff is extremely welcoming. Would recommend this gem. read more

What a great little hotel! So personal, so lovingly taken care of in all the major and minor details: rich hanging flower baskets, nice garden setting outside, quality bedding and tasteful decoration inside, they sure created the absolute best out of what they had to work with! And service is impeccable: I left my hiking shoes behind, got a message from Kathy before I even realized it, and she volunteered to send them to me- wow, I appreciated that and sure enough a few days later, they aRe here. Thank you! My only regret is that we didn't take them up on their free breakfast, we went down the road to another place, which ended up being a disappointment. considering the overall quality and care at the Stone Lizard I am not surprised to now read here that other guests loved the breakfast there as well. Next time! read more

The experience here is much better than your standard hotel. Exquisitely decorated rooms that are quiet and comfortable. The breakfast is exceptional, with an outside large garden to enjoy the morning birds. The price is a little higher than other local hotels-but absolutely worth it. read more

I have stayed in this hotel 10 to 12 times from 2020-2022. I have had satisfactory stays. Well that ended on 9-7-22. Mind you, After driving seven hours I ordered some take out food from a local restaurant. The plastic fork & knife I was given fell on the floor, so I disposed of them. I went to the lobby and grabbed a plastic fork & knife. On my way out I heard "you cannot do that". I wondered what the person was referring to. She persisted with me not taking a disposable fork & knife and a "sign should be up". I was told by the employee "she was going to call Kathy". I guess that's the owner after checking the website. All of this over the disposable plastic fork & knife I grabbed...Really. I gave them back to the rude employee. I really can't believe this took place, but I assure you it did. The Stone Lizard Lodge can keep their plastic utensils safe and I will stay somewhere else going forward. "Fork you" SLL. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The motel itself is older but comfortable and the service and people are great. The breakfast is fresh and cooked here. I especially enjoyed the Savory pastry which is similar to a hot pocket. I shall return. read more

After a long day in the hills The Stone Lizard Lodge was a welcome resting stop. Clean, warm rooms with pleasant service and nice complimentary breakfast that included excellent homemade breakfast pastries as well as plenty of other options. A friend and I were passing through on a cross country road trip trip. The room was spacious and super clean. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating. We ate a wonderful homemade fresh breakfast in the garden. Absolutely recommend this place if you plan to visit any of the local national parks. A placed not to be missed. read more

Nice place. The best hotel in Blanding. Options are limited there, but for being a place out in the middle of nowhere they do a good job. If this was a hotel in a bigger city it would probably be getting 3 stars. I'd stay again if in the area though so it gets the 4 stars. read more

Car trouble led to us spending the night here. This motel was pretty nice. The rooms were clean and well-kept. The prices seemed reasonable and the staff was friendly. read more

I gave this motel a full 5 simply because there is no better place that I could image in that part of rhe country! The staff was super helpful & friendly - the price was VERY reasonable and the room was updated and very clean. read more

What a great night! The rooms were charming, the owners were wonderful, and the breakfast was AMAZING!! Stay here! You will not be disappointed. read more

Found this place through Trip Advisor. Cute little motel/lodge--looks like it was recently renovated. Room was clean and small. Customer service was friendly. Deducted points/stars because of the shower's hot/cold water. It was either too hot or too cold--couldn't take a warm shower. Had to improvise with a cup for a bath. Otherwise, it was a nice place to sleep. read more

Cute little motel, pretty good for the price, and Blanding is a good location to be based off of when exploring the Four Corners area. I found it being a little loud at night, since you can hear the cars in the parking lot, but besides that, our room was nice, and clean, and comfy. And then there is breakfast with cinnamon rolls and homemade hot pockets (and I even got a veggie one made especially for me, which I was unreasonably happy about!). We only stayed here for a night, but it was a very good experience. read more

Lost paradise is they way I would describe this absolutely wonderful place to stay. We were driving and we were lost and stumbled upon this jewel of a hotel. Great staff very welcoming awesome breakfast wonderful garden the rooms were so clean and tidy did it made it feel like staying at home thank you so much for a great day read more

Great lodging. Well kept rooms with comfy beds. Not large rooms but they do the job. Impressed with the free WiFi, Directtv and terrific brew. They make cinnamon rolls, hot pocket type sandwiches and other goodies. I will be back. read more

It's all been said in other reviews, I suppose, but this place is truly a gem. The owners clearly put love into making this little hotel a special place, and it was such a relief to discover it. The room had everything and more... and was just really cozy. Not generic at all. Fantastic breakfast with the homemade hot pockets and cinnamon rolls, etc. I wish there were more places like this. Will definitely be back if I'm anywhere near Blanding and needing a hotel. read more

AFTER TWO PLANE RIDES AND A 2.5 HOUR CAR RIDE, I finally arrived at this little motor inn. I had a confirmed reservation for this place, and they cancelled it...... . The owner helped me find other accommodations, but really? My advice, call ahead to make sure your reservation is secure. read more

Comfortably Retro OK, I admit it. My expectations for lodging in Blanding wasn't very high. I've traveled a lot and I have one dislike for accommodation--depressing. Even "nice" places can be depressing and a simple place can brighten my day if it has a positive vibe. Stone Lizard has a positive vibe. It's a simple, old-fashioned small town motel given a loving make-over. It never feels precious. Rooms each have a a small fridge and microwave. The bed was comfortable and the shower was hot. The included breakfast is wonderful--better than many of the big chains. The staff is friendly. What else could you want? read more

This motel is very nice and clean. Very reasonable pricing ($47 queen) and in my opinion the best choice in Blanding. The owners are super friendly. And you get 10% off local restaurants. read more

A cool little retro place with snug and redecorated rooms. We initially had some serious problems with the room but management made a real effort to rectify everything. Worth a stop and very clean with a better than average comp breakfast. read more

This motel also ranks among places i would readily return to. My unit was better priced then the major chain motels, but i also had a full kitchenette. Great staff. Would definitely stay here again read more

Just completed a 4 day stay here while visiting family in the local area for the holidays. Enjoyed the retro look and feel. Comfortable beds/rooms. Bathrooms could use a little updating/maintenance, however owners have been making consistent improvements to the facilities over the past 3 years. Breakfast buffet with the whole wheat cinnamon rolls is wonderful. Will definitely stay here again. read more

This is the place to stay when in the area. Owners put a lot of effort into the place; they are right out there talking to everyone in the morning and were so nice. They will treat you like family. Homemade wonderful breakfasts every morning was a great bonus. Cute little kitchenettes in the rooms which is helpful since there are not many places to eat in Blanding. We would definitely stay here again. read more

Clean, newly renovated rooms. Delicious homemade (free) breakfast and friendly staff.

Awesome place! Friendly people, comfortable affordable rooms and a wonderful garden in back to relax and enjoy. The breakfast here is homemade with flakey egg, ham and cheese pockets, cinnamon rolls and banana bread. I'm not kidding! It really is homemade! I highly recommend this place! read more

How can you not love a hotel that serves homemade cinnamon rolls at their complimentary breakfast? And if cinnamon rolls don't do it for you, there is hot and cold cereal, quick breads, toast + fixings, savory pastries, and yogurt. And if that doesn't win you over, there's also the very clean rooms, the hardwood floors, the helpful, personable staff, and the fact that this place is independently owned. We stayed three nights in Room 11. We were very glad for all of the above plus the well-stocked kitchenette (plates, bowls, mugs, utensils, etc.) and effective heater. We needed the latter given the rotation of snow, hail, wind, and really cold rain during our stay in Blanding. The only drawback? The hotel walls are thin and the window-mounted air conditioning unit did a great job of relaying outside noises so we woke up every morning between 6:45 and 7:15am feeling as if someone was talking (loudly) right in our room. All in all, we'd very happily stay here again. read more

This place was a pleasant surprise after a long day of driving. Free home made breakfast that is probably the best complimentary breakfast we've had ever, very friendly and charming owner/staff, and great attention to details like Wolfgang Puck coffee packs, Body Shop soap and shampoo to help your stay as smooth and comfortable as possible. After we settled in, we found the next door to the lodge, an all-in-one gas station, restaurant, grocery, and bowling alley! It was nice to just walk over, have dinner while playing a game of bowling, then buy some groceries to take back to the room. Very convenient! There are small things that can be improved, such as the lack of curtain for the back window to our room (people can peep in from the back garden), we had to hang our shirt to block that window; and the lack of AC in our room, which is okay during our time of visit, but may be an issue in hotter summer months. Despite the little things, we had a lovely stay and would highly recommend this place! read more

After 9 nights straight of sleeping in a tent and with monsoon season threatening to blow my tent all the way to Colorado, I started looking around the Blanding area for a place to stay. I'm not really a motel person...but for the same price as one of the chain budget hotels in town, this place is so much better. The room is clean, the water pressure is great, bed is soft and comfy. More tv channels than you could ever watch. I got the room with the kitchenette so that I could save $ and finish off the rest of the food I bought for camping. The whole property is clean and decorated nicely, there's a table and chairs outside of most of the rooms and hanging plants on most of the awnings out front. In the back of the property is a huge garden with multiple fire pits, tables, and picnic benches. You could have a fully booked hotel and have room for everyone in the place to hang out in back. Lots of flowers and bird feeders, especially the hummingbirds. As other reviews have mentioned, the breakfast pastries are amazing. I had intended to get an early predawn start at hiking...but that didn't happen so I stuck around to grab some breakfast because I'm not going to turn down some free food. I travel for work so I'm used to the "free breakfast" type setup. A lot of what they had was that sort of standard fare, until they brought out a basket of these savory pastry puffs. Phenomenal! You can tell they're made from scratch. read more

Very nice place and wonderful hosts who went out of thier way to talk about the area's cultural resources from a local's perspective. Great old roadside motel. Family owned and it feels like it -- the best breakfast I have ever had at a motel with lots of homemade breads and cakes. We based ourselves out of this motel for five days while we explored the nearby national parks; Arches, Canyonlands, Mesa Verde, Hovenweep. With very comfortable beds, clean rooms and gracious owners who have clearly invested themselves in the place and its guests it almost feels like a B&B, The only con was the size of the rooms .. felt cramped. but who cares? This part of the country begs you to get outside an explore. read more

Stayed here for five nights in the family suite while canyoneering in the area looking for rock art and ruins. Very clean and comfortable. Excellent breakfast included. The owner, Craig, is a rock art hound and was super helpful telling us the best way to get to places we were interested in and told us of sites we didn't know about. And because Blanding is a dry town, we were able to bring our own adult beverages read more

The best place to stay! It's small but comfy and clean. The continental breakfast is amazing. Homemade Puff pastrys filled with eggs/ham, homemade whole wheat cinnamon rolls, banana bread, eggs, yogurt, cereal and so much more. All the pastries are homemade by the owners. The owners are some of the kindest people you will meet. If I haven't sold you yet - check out their beautiful flowers in front of each room and their beautiful garden.
