We picked this inn because of its location on our way to Monument Valley from Moab. Our group found this inn to be quite charming. Check in was quick and easy with the friendly girl behind the counter. Room keys were actual keys and there's a nice big ice machine on site. The rooms were comfortable. We booked both the double queen rooms and single queen rooms. Parking spots are right in front of the rooms. The single queen bedrooms are in the building in the front next to the road. Road noise wasn't bad but the AC unit was quite loud. The bedroom was so cute and the bed was comfortable. The double queen bedrooms are in the building in the back. Nice size rooms with microwaves and a small fridge. Private bathrooms and sink. Small table with two chairs.

    Fun, retro sign!

Don't let the less than impressive street view mislead you - this place is a diamond in disguise! We'd planned to make it to Moab before the end of the day, but when it became obvious that wasn't going to happen, I checked Yelp and saw a place in Monticello, UT with an intriguing name - The Atomic Blue Motor Inn! Looked at the posted pictures, read some of the reviews left by previous travelers and decided to give it a shot! And are so glad we did! Though the desk clerk told us it had been around since 1940, it looked as if it had been very recently updated and had a really cute and fun retro vibe right down to the phone and tissue holder. Super clean! Great staff! Wonderful breakfast place within walking distance! And one of the best prices we've seen on our entire trip! Will definitely stay there again when we come back to the area!

Cute desk area in our room

Retro to the max! Not plush, but comfy. I do wish the tv were bigger. Couldn't see the full image of the olympics!

We were going to stay in Moab but they all started at $200 plus because of Valentine Day.

This is an old classic motel that has been updated. The decor is nothing to write home about, but…read morethe bed is super comfortable, the room was clean, the bathroom was small but functional, and there is a desk, chest of drawers, and table if you're staying a while. There's also a picnic area and grill. We are traveling for a move and brought our cat. We booked a different hotel in Monticello that was listed as pet friendly on Bookings.com. However when we arrived they didn't take cats. This place was across the street so we gave them a try. The lady at the desk was lovely and accommodating, and she saved the day! There's also a really good Mexican restaurant on the next corner and a coffee shop with amazing breakfast sandwiches across the street. If we ever need to stay in Monticello again we will probably stop here, even without the cat.

2nd Worst Hotel I have Ever Stayed…read more I should have known I was not going to be happy with the hotel when I arrived. When I looked at my reservation, it said check in at 1PM. I was surprised, but we showed up a bit before 2pm. When we got there the husband of the owners said check in was not until 3pm. I showed him what the reservation email confirmation showed. He said it was due to the Experian or Hotels service that I used. I told him, I did not use a hotel service. I made the reservation by calling the hotel directly. He then took a picture of my phone to prove to wife that there was an error on the check in. He then had to get his wife to figure out if they had a room available. Apparently, there was only one room ready at 2pm, and they stuck us in room 114. First off, I am not sure if all the rooms are like this, or if room 114 is just particularly in need of maintenance. When I walked in the room, there was a particular dank smell to the room, and when you walk on the carpet, it just feels foamy. At first, I thought they had just finished shampooing the carpet, but it never seems to go back to normal. The air in the room is overly heavy feeling. When I woke up the next morning, I was looking at the bathroom window, and it was foggy and dripping. There is black mold and mildew around the window. The shower is also heavy with mildew, and the shower head continues to drip. In addition, when you take a shower, the hot and cold keep switching, as if someone is constantly flushing the toilet. The hot is scalding! The sheets are so thin, they are not comfortable. I never asked them to clean the room or make the bed. The cleaning carts are out there all day, so I would go and get additional towels and toilet paper (they only provided half a roll for a three-night stay). In addition, I came home with major bumps on one of my legs, behind my ear, and on my neck. They do not appear to be bed bug bites, but something bit me in that room, and they are quite swollen. All and all a not good experience, so if you must use this hotel, make sure you check the rooms before you unpack and make sure you are satisfied with the room. And stay away from room 114.

Check-in was a ghost town--no one around, had to hunt down someone who looked annoyed we existed. Room felt like a dusty antique store explosion: creaky floors that groaned like they were dying every time you moved, poor lighting so dim you could barely see your own feet, and lightbulbs that were straight-up burned out. Bed was okay if you like lumpy mattresses from the 1800s, but the pillows were flat as pancakes and smelled faintly of old attic. Breakfast? More like a sad self-serve disaster. Tables were dirty, no utensils half the time, trash overflowing, and the "continental" spread was basically stale muffins, watery coffee that tasted like regret, and some sad fruit that had seen better days. No host interaction, no warm vibes--just grab-and-go neglect. The whole place had this weird abandoned energy. No real hospitality, plumbing sounded like a freight train every time someone flushed, and the "quaint" antiques just made everything feel grimy and neglected. Paid way too much for a night of discomfort and disappointment. Zero charm, zero comfort, zero reason to ever come back. It just sucked. Hard. Avoid unless you enjoy paying for regret. 0/10, would rather sleep in the car.

The rooms are spacious but cozy and the bathroom had a shower and a claw foot tub! Big screen TV and luggage holders. We enjoyed having breakfast in the breakfast area.
