When booking agents really goofed my reservations (wrong day, double booked), the front desk person (I think her name was Chastity) was patient, kind, and helpful (and I heard that she was the person making those great breakfasts). The owner also kindly called to greet me. Rooms are very comfortable and tastefully furnished, a great back yard to sit and chat with other travelers, and up to date facilities. The state ne lizard lodge is a great stop when traveling around Utah. The owners are the nicest people and awesome host and bakers/chefs. The place is and elevated motel in a quaint town of Blanding. You're greeted at arrival by a kindly and courtesy host. I love no door key to lose just a code to get into your room. The parking lot is nicely set up the lodge is surrounded by lovely plants and trees. We had a nice patio set outside which we used to have dinner. Our room was quite large w a big bed there's two night stands a desk area large tv on and dresser; another bed in an alcove is great for another person to have a bit of privacy w a night stand. The room had a microwave, fridge and coffee maker w a selections of coffee and teas. Bathroom was large and a great shower area w a nice shower head that had good hot water when needed. The amenities were awesome. The soap smelled great and had an amazing exfoliating seeds build in. The body lotion felt so luxurious on my skin. Towels and bed linens were perfect. If you read my posts about food you know I'm a water snob well when lodging in a sheet snob (my husband would say I'm like the princess and the pea). The sheets were soft and comfy. We had a restful nights sleep and awesome shower w great pressure. We then we welcomed to a breakfast all homemade even seemed the juices we fresher squeezed. I had the savory crusty bread w egg, tomato, kielbasa, ham and cheese inside it was so yummy. They had whole wheat cinnamon rolls that the frosting was great as well as the great flavor. The overnight chia was great loved the creaminess of the mixture but the fruit on top was fresh. The oj was as fresh and the coffee (I'm not a coffee drink but my mom said it was great). She gave us banana bread to take and it was dense and great. We ate breakfast in the back garden which was pretty and peaceful. They had patio tables, picnic tables but also had chaises and fire pits. I love that they had a bowl of chocolate to choose from rather than a chocolate on your pillow (which always seems weird and bring bugs. It's hard to tell, merely from the internet, and the photos there, but this is a REALLY nice place to stay. The room (20) that we had was newly renovated, and very very comfortable. The parking is right outside the door of each room. Though close to the street, the whole place was as peaceful as promised after dinner time, when everybody in town seems to be quietly at home. The breakfast was hearty and delicious, and the travel chat was friendly among the guests. All the foods were made on site and came out hot and smelling of home-cooking. We loved The Stone Lizard. We loved the history of the place, too! An old-style motel, updated and upgraded. Such a great value. The Stone Lizard Lodge is the place to stay if traveling in Blanding area. It was perfect for our one night on our way back home. The room was clean with a cool decor, a huge TV and comfy King bed. What a great place to stay! We were coming back from South Dakota on the way to Arizona and Stopped here. The staff were friendly and the rooms were clean. But we really loved the decor as well as how they have really taken time to restore and upgrade the whole place. We will be stopping back here next time we are coming through on our yearly trip to Sturgis. read more

The property and room looked just like the pictures. The bathtub was large and was nice to soak in. The bed was really comfortable. The breakfast was good, but even though there was an hour left of breakfast, they were out or just weren't making it fast enough. Overall, it felt like I was at a spa resort. What a lovely surprise!!!!! So this summer, I traveled across the country by myself. I split my time between camping and hotels, and I didn't make plans in advance. I just decided where I wanted to stop each day and then figured out accommodations. As a solo female traveler, safety was something always at the top of my mind. I had driven through the desert that day and the sun had started going down. I hadn't passed much and I was running low on gas, so I checked the map for the next town I would come to. It happened to be Blanding. I couldn't google and drive so I called a friend and asked her to text me any hotels that might be in the area. She responded back saying that the Stone Lizard looked decent and had good reviews, so I nervously took a shot. So glad I did!! The rooms are charming and have everything you need. It was already twilight by the time I arrived so I poured a beverage and sat out to enjoy the night sky. Breakfast the next morning was surprisingly good and I loved having the manicured and peaceful courtyard in which to eat it. I'm NOT a yogurt/parfait person but theirs was so good that I actually called them months later to ask for the recipe. I think the photo of the cinnamon roll speaks for itself! The neighborhood seems mostly residential and felt safe when I walked around. Lots of families and well cared for properties. I think there might have been a few shops but I had to get on the road the next morning and didn't get much chance to look around. I'm actually only getting around to writing this review months after the fact, so I don't recall all the lovely details but I do know there were some. I particularly remember the soap smelling absolutely amazing, and having a little gift shop in the check in area was a nice touch. My only reason for not giving five stars is because there did seem to be a little bit of an ant issue in the bathroom (the tiny ants, not the big ones), but they didn't bother me much and the hotel staff seemed very receptive when I mentioned it at checkout. All in all, this was a great stay and I wish I could have had a longer experience. I will definitely stay again next time I pass through the area!!! read more

Great place! Staff are friendly. Rolled in at 10:10 after a tour in Mesa Verde went late. The office called at 9:00 to tell me the office closed at 10:00. When I mentioned that I was unable to reach the lodge before the office closed they said that I they would slip the key where I would be able to access it, which indeed turned to be the case. The rooms are large and tastefully done in Southwest rustic with wooden floors. It also had a microwave and refrigerator. Shower had a nice seat and a detachable hose. Beds are extremely comfy and I had the best sleep on my long Utah trip here. The next morning had a nice breakfast. I especially appreciated the homemade cinnamon rolls and ham and egg pockets. A credit card issue I had the night before was quickly sorted out, and Craig was able to provide me with some of his favorite Ancient Pueblo ruins locations on HWY 95, some of which I am still not able to find online. The garden was well done. I heartedly recommend this spot and will plan on visiting again the next time I'm in the area. read more

This time of the year we were facing limited options throughout the trip so we were a bit unsure of what we'd get. What a great surprise! The rooms were tastefully decorated. Clean and quiet. What a great suprise. This place had wonderful beds which is a must when you are on the road. A cute small hotel with friendly staff. The rooms are a little dated but that adds to the charm. Very clean with all your basic necessities. Our room only had a shower but that was fine with us. Great outdoor seating areas that are very inviting. The free breakfast was well put together. The coffee was good. Tasty homemade pastries along with lots of other choices. Then there was a separate outdoor area out back to have your food. Great flower gardens and nice landscaping. Though its not as cheap as it used to be, I am impressed at the time and attention, and money they have put into this small cozy inn Blanding Utah. All other lodgings just seem the same, so if you want a quieter,cleaner, friendlier, more personable stay this is the place. Good quality, basic breakfast items. More TV channels than I could count. Slow in coming, but hot, hot water for showers. Clean smoke free rooms. Its not a 5 only because they need a way to help folks from other countries that dont speak english. This is a charming little motel that has real character. It makes me think of when the country was starting to have its love affair with the automobile and learning to "see the USA in your Chevrolet". You know, back when people went on adventures instead of social media tours. The room was tidy and well appointed, if a little small with a king bed (no chair or desk area), with a fridge and microwave. The bathroom was a little dated but remember that you're on an adventure! It was lovely to have an outside courtyard to enjoy the fall evening and morning breakfast with delicious savory "pockets" filled with ham and mild chillies. Updated accents like southwest pottery and well appointed nightstands made this a clear step above the no-tell motels we drove past. What a gem!!!!! Pride of ownership shows in the grounds of this roadside motel. Our group travels once a year and we try not to chose accommodations that are commercialized.
