My husband had decided to re-tile one of our bathrooms himself. We went basic white subway tile which we purchased at Home Depot. Due to some issues he had to set the vanity away from the wall and build up a back and side splash. Neither Home Depot, Lowes, or Floor & Decor had solutions for this. My daughter and I made a list of smaller stores to visit to see what options they could provide, and Stone & Ceramic, being closest to home, was our first and only stop. Mike in the showroom showed us a variety of possibilities then took us over to the warehouse to see what they had on hand. We were handed over to Aaron there who showed us what they had available. He let us have one of each piece that we thought we might be able to work with and allowed us to take them home to figure it out. (I'd offered to pay for them.) They did have the unique pieces we needed and went back to purchase. What a relief to finally have this done!!! HB residents may "appear" very unassuming, esp during a pandemic & people are working from home. Sleepy surf town is very casual. After 3 separate visits to this stone & ceramic store in about a week , & having 3 different encounters with employees , we chose to take our $10,000 order to Costa Mesa where we were actually assisted w/o any one-sided "arguing" by the employee, or being reminded the store is "closing" soon etc. NO I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND STONE & CERAMIC SURFACES (but I would recommend their employees be re-trained in basic tips while working with the public). read more

We recently started construction on a new home and my mom recommended i check out this store since she lives nearby. We worked with Paul who was so helpful and really took time helping us with our design for each of the rooms. I felt like I had our own personal designer helping us and he was so responsive to all our needs. The store is fantastic too. We have been using S&C over the past couple of years of our house remodel and have had our downstairs level floor tiled in marble, kitchen floor tiled in similar marble and kitchen backsplash in a super funky ceramic tile. They also helped us with natural stone tiles for our fire pit. It's a huge showroom with tons of tile. They pretty much have everything: modern patterns, glass, ceramic, marble and other natural stone. You can spend a while in here planning and looking around. They also have an outdoor showroom for outdoor tile. All bases are covered. Admittedly like other reviews they aren't great on the phone - I figure tiles are pretty visual so when we've called about tiles, they aren't that helpful and then we just head down there. Customer service once you're there is decent. Prices are competitive. (They also introduced us to a great tiler. You'll be happy with Bruce at Versa Tile if you book him.) read more

Stone and Ceramic Surfaces are amazing! I had a discontinued tile that I needed to match for a small area. Paul helped me go through the many options they have and even let me borrow the tiles to bring home to ensure it was a good match. After I finally chose one, we realized that style was also discontinued, but since they had enough sample tiles that I needed, he donated them to me and didn't even charge! Our tile contractor suggested we come to this place to select or tile for our bathroom remodels. While their selection was great they didn't even greet us when we walked in to the showroom despite having only one other customer. The staff of 3 were more involved in a discussion about what to order for lunch than our business. We walked the entire showroom and not one of them approached us, ever! After almost 1/2 hour in the showroom we left and still not a word was spoken to us. We have NEVER encountered such lack of customer service and wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Great (almost overwhelming) selection and nice staff. I recommend that you get an appointment with a consultant and go with your pictures, color swatches, idea books, etc. because there are too many choices and you really need a game plan to narrow down the range of things you want to see. They let you borrow samples so you can see how they look in the light of your target room. You can also go without an appointment and just browse. If you have kids, they also have an area where children can sit/play/draw. Overall great experience. They are not the lowest priced dealers, but they can offer a great selection, reliability and competitive prices depending on what you get. They matched price for us and it was almost 30 to 40 percent less. If you put order you have to pay full by check or cash before delivery.
