DON'T USE THEM if you want you medication, Should be Jokes not Stokes. Our dogs Oncologist called her chemo Rx in on Wed 7/1 and said that Stokes would contact me about payment that afternoon. Friday 7/3 I called because I hadn't heard from them and my vet said to give them a call.They couldn't find the Rx because they used my last name as her first name. Now I got a email from UPS that the chemo pills are being returned because the address wasn't found. Called Jokes back and Ashley asked my address and then told me that is where they shipped it to. So I finally got a hold of someone from UPS and she told what address was on the package and it was wrong (they're currently trying to get it off the truck). So I called Ashley again and told her what UPS said and she looked again and noticed they had the address wrong. I currently have 39 minutes of hold time in 4 phone calls to the Jokes Pharmacy. We used Stokes for years for our aged and ailing cat. They were always able to provide the compounded medicine we needed (beef flavor) very quickly. The staff were always easy to reach on the phone, helpful, very kind and sympathetic. When our cat died recently they were thoughtful enough to send a condolence card. They helped us give our beloved cat a good extra two years and I would recommend and go back to them in a heartbeat. read more

We have a cat with lymphoma who has been on a parade of different chemo drugs, both pills and shots, for the last year. The last time his medication was switched, we noticed upon first receipt (we are in CA so it was shipped to us, we weren't physically in the pharmacy) that bottle said it was for dogs. Alarmed, we immediately called. We were told that was a mistake and that they would rectify it. We incorrectly assumed that meant we would be sent the correct medication. Then we got married and went on our honeymoon and totally spaced that we never received the correct medication (in our defense, he's on several different medications already, but still, we're dumb). We called Stokes and were told that the "mistake" was that the medication was designated for dogs but that it was the correct medication and we should've used it. When they said they would "fix it," they said they meant they would change the species designation on our account. We were shocked. We were never told the medication was correct and that we should use it. We were worried about leaving possibly harmful medication around with so many other medications, and you obviously can't return medication for fear of tampering, so we threw it away. ANYWAY my husband then asked for replacement medication. He thought he should receive a credit for the first shipment, but he was clear that he would pay for the second, that the important thing was that the cat finally receive the medicine. Two weeks later we still hadn't received it. His patience with them had run out, so I called them to order new medication. I was placed on hold and then a second person came on the line wanting me to explain everything I had just explained to the first person. He had an accusatory tone and kept referring to their mistake as a "typo." His assumption was that I was trying to get free medication. I don't know why he assumed that, I had never asked for the medication for free and was very willing at this point to pay for their mistake. Then the blame game started again and he said he was told that I had asked for "replacement medication." I said that was true. Why he thought that meant I didn't intend to pay for it I can't say. Why he assumed this was a call about anything other than the health of a pet I can't say. That is what it should've been about, however. After being chided on the phone I felt it was best I deal with another pharmacy that cares more about the patients than lording their incorrect editorial superiority over the customers. I was not on the phone when we reported that the medication was for canines, it was my husband, so I can't say that he was the most clear on his instructions, and it seems to me like a pure misunderstanding that they would say "that's a mistake" and "we'll fix it" and mean one thing and my husband would take away something entirely different. I can understand that we would be financially responsible for this misunderstanding, though it sucks. However, the fact that we were treated as if the burden of clarifying their mistake was on us, the laymen who are not pharmacists and only trying to protect their pet, is bogus. There are many medications that are beneficial to one species and harmful or even fatal to another, and when you're sent a medication marked for the wrong species and told it's a mistake, it isn't so strange that you would take the action we did. And the fact that they were so set on hammering home that we were the ones in error and not them that they failed to send a second shipment of medication that we fully agreed to pay for is appalling. Think we're idiots if you want, and don't credit us for "the mistake," but do not withhold medication from a sick animal. That is the opposite of what a pharmacy should do and in fact the definition of a pharmacy. Clearly since we're in California and this pharmacy is in New Jersey, it doesn't matter too much where the pharmacy you're using is located. This medication, like many others, needs to be refrigerated and so must be shipped overnight, so you can and should consider using another pharmacy if Stokes happens to be the closest to you. I've switched to Valley Drug & Compound in Encino, CA at (818) 788-0635, and they seem delightful. The price was comparable and overnight shipping is only $10. I reported this incident to our vet's office, who said they don't deal with the pharmacies directly except to provide prescriptions, so they don't get a lot of feedback on them. So if you're assuming that your vet gave you Stokes' information because they know and trust them, you may be making that assumption in error. My vet's office told me Valley Drug on the other hand calls them very often to clarify when a prescription has changed to make sure they are sending the right information, so she's more confident in their quality performance. Used them for a year on a script for my dog's eyes. Had to switch eye vets because she needs double-eye surgery now. New specialist sent in same script to Stokes as what she's been on for a year, but am still waiting on Stokes to get straightened out more than a week later. 1st Stokes' rep said the dose was sent in wrong (it wasn't, she was reading it wrong), so new rx needed to be sent to them. Then a very very rude Stokes rep called complaining that the vet sent in 2 scripts and why did they do that?? After I tried to tell her it was because their first rep said the dose was wrong, an argument ensued with escalation to a supervisor. Decision was made to send in a new script to ensure everything was correct (these are my dog's eyes, for Pete's sake!). But even after 2 more contacts made by the vet to get this order in with Stokes, (even calling them on the phone), their reps still claim they don't have it!! Meanwhile, my dog is starting to run out of the med she needs for her eyes. Rude. Incompetent. How can I trust them now with getting her meds right? First, the prices are outrageous. They wanted over $400 for 90 pills for my cat with chronic URI or herpes. I went with the liquid which was much less at almost $150 with tax but that is still ridiculous because I called Stine's Apothecary in Hainesport and they only charge $65 for the 90 pills. Since my cat may need this medication for life, that will save me well over $1,000 annually. Second of all, and most importantly, they do not allow pets in their front lobby and they even have a sign posted. Why is this a problem? When I went to pick up my meds, some sorry excuse for a man left his dog (which I believe is diabetic because the Rx was for insulin) panting in his crappy truck that no one wants to steal (in Mt. Laurel no less) with all the windows up in 80 degree weather. When I confronted this typical selfish human being, I got absolutely no support from the clerk. She acted robotically and didn't want to be bothered with concerns for the welfare of the innocent dog. The man was dismissive and rude and said he was in a rush (YET he spent the time rolling up 3 windows because I pulled up just behind him and witnessed this). I had to leave my place in line, go outside and contact authorities who did absolutely nothing anyway and couldn't have cause the guy left within minutes BUT not before actually using his sloppy, smelly body to push me aside when we were at counter. When our ver was unable to get Prednisolone to treat our cat's blood disorder, he recommended Stokes Pharmacy where they would duplicate the compound. He phoned in the Rx, and by the time I got to the pharmacy, which is touched away in an unlikely location, the medicine was ready. The cost was slightly more, but the medicine seemed more effective, and the people were efficient and friendly....ss read more

Excellent service! I left my vet and within 15 minutes Stokes was on the phone with me confirming the prescription my vet just called in. I had a few questions and they were very accommodating. I spoke to two people, one took my order (she was very nice) and the other was the pharmacist who was very knowledgeable and seemed legitimately concerned about my ferret. They made chicken flavored chew treats out of a very very bad tasting liquid medicine for my little guy, making it much easier to give him his meds. The packaging was marvelous and it was shipped to the ferrets name (which I thought was adorable). I also got it the very next day, which was unexpected.
