Special: Ricotta, jalapeno, sub mushroom for bacon
    Guli K.

Who isn't skeptical about pizza from a foodtruck? But, these guys get it right every time. I have frequented stoked for the last 3 years and the pizza's have remained consistently delicious. My usuals include the mushroom and buffalo chicken. Recently tried their special which included ricotta, jalapeno and I substituted mushrooms for bacon - so good. Fresh ingredients, thoughtfully combined for a delicious pizza. Prices tend to be on the slightly higher end for lunch but so worth it. Highly recommend!

Big stoked fan until today, when one of the guys in the food truck was vaping and cooking at the same time.

    The Porky!

I was finally able to stumble upon these guys in Copley Square, and I was not letting the opportunity pass me by this time. There have been too many people who have told me how delicious this fast, wood-fired pizza was, and I needed to experience it for myself. Being the hungry fiend that I was, I ordered the Porky, which was topped with tomato sauce, mozzarella, bacon, hot italian sausage, and pepperoni. Your mouth is watering, right? Mine was, too. And for only about $11 total, this was a steal in my book for a handcrafted 11" pizza. I only waited about ten minutes (and this was during peak lunch hour!) for my pizza to be called. I was expecting a much longer turn around time, so it actually caught me off-guard when they called my name. It was my lucky day, though, because I was famished and this pizza looked and smelled delicious. The crust was thin and the edges were charred to perfection, adding that extra smokey flavor to the entire pie. The combination of the meats and the sauce was on point - not too greasy, a nice balance of sweet, spicy, and savory. My mouth is watering just thinking about it! I can't wait to catch these guys out again, but if I find myself becoming impatient (and I probably will be), I plan on checking out their new brick-and-mortar location in Brookline. Perhaps the food truck for lunch and Brookline for dinner? The endless possibilities...

OK - so I have been here three times so far, and I am so far beyond impressed by the pizzas that these guys turn out that I feel like I HAVE to give them a review. First of all, this is SERIOUS pizza made by people who really know their craft. They have built a large woodfired, domed pizza oven (yes, Neapolitan style) right on their truck that gets the temperature just where it should for an optimal pie. Cook time is about 3 minutes. If there is no line (a rarity, but happens if you time your visit), you can go from ordering to walking away with your pizza in less than 5 minutes. Only slightly longer than getting a reheated slice from a standard pizzaria, but it is MADE TO ORDER! So, as far as the pizza itself. I have thought long and hard about this, and don't want to throw out hyperbole, but I really can't think of a better pizza I have had anywhere around Boston in the 10 years that I've lived here. The crust is light, pillowy, chewy AND crusty (magic, I tell you), and all of their ingredients are absolutely top notch, including their really concentrated homemade tomato sauce. So far I have done their white mushroom with truffle oil, their ground pepperoni, and a special that I believe was Italian sausage with caramelized onions. I would love to try a buffalo brussel sprout as others have written about, but they definitely shift their menu based on local seasonal produce, and I have only seen buffalo cauliflower and buffalo kale (neither of which seem as exciting to me). Anyhow, don't walk, but RUN to this food truck, and try to catch them on the early side for the quickest service. Turning out pizza like this, I think it is inevitable that they will have a brick and morter place within the next few years. All the stars, all the thumbs, all the little gold statuettes I can give these guys is not enough. This pizza has given me a new relationship with the world around me and has turned me into a kinder person who now knows that miracles are possible.

    truck at assembly row

We actually visited the food truck at Assembly row during opening weekend. Most of the specialty pizzas were about $ 9.00 for an 11" size. We opted for the Buffalo chicken with oven roasted chicken, mozzarella, Romano, Gorgonzola cheese topped with buffalo sauce. I'm not sure if I was just starving or not but the pizza was wonderful. It was soooo good! Everything tasted fresh and the crust was perfect; it was soft, crispy and chewy.

This place defies the odds. Wood fire burning stove inside a food truck...genius. These personal size pizzas are amazing. It's only near my work in back bay on Thursdays and my co workers and I look forward to it every week. Even if I bring my lunch I end up ordering the pizza. I have had the cheese and the buffalo cauliflower (totally had caramelized onions). Both great! Also the pepperoni is diced up, not sliced, which I think is awesome. Get there early because the line grows long and sometimes they run out of the special pizzas. The wait is never too too long though.

    pepperoni! yum!
    Monica W.

Starting off on the right note, my first bite had a nice little pile of ground pepperoni on it. As expected, I loved it. I've always been a fan of the little square cut pepperoni that is sometimes on frozen pizza, but I've never had anything similar to it on a fresh pizza. It's got kinda a similar shape / texture as bacon bits, which is great IMO. If they sold just the pepperoni I wouldn't hesitate to buy it... (pizza salad anyone?) Anyway, past that, the sauce is good. Not standout- seemed kind of sweet, but I can't really put my finger on it. The cheese is good but gets kind of overpowered by the taste of the pepperoni. The crust was great- on the thin side, chewy, with a good handle that was just slightly burnt. Overall, this was really good, in fact, probably the best pizza I've had in the Financial District. I meant to take it home for dinner but forgot it at the office, so I just reheated half for lunch the next day. The pizza was still great after sitting in a fridge for a day, and since I think a lot of people will end up with leftovers like me, this was crucial. I crave it like all the time, and THANK GOD they are still doing service over the winter. Pro tip: order extra pepperoni- it puts it over the top delicious. Pizza Score: 8 / 10 www.pizzablonde.com

    Spicy Mushroom - SOOO GOOD!
    Jenn S.

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!!!!!!!! Isn't it amazing they have a pizza oven in a truck? Come on people that is crazy! I feel so bad for the employees who are probably sweating their butts off but they make good pizza! I ordered the spicy mushroom and it was so good. I found them at SOWA and they had the shortest line and I am not sure why.... I prefer this truck over almost all of them! And helloooo they have a pizza oven in a truck!

Got the mushroom pizza and it was a great mix of cheese, onion and mushroom. A little too 'burnt' for my taste, but eh. We ate it all and couldn't stop. Seemed like a long time as they didn't have a long line, but it'll take a long time anyway because it's pizza. I wish they sold single slices!

    Crystal P.

Their pizza is some of my favorite! Definitely try if you see the truck at SOWA, greenway, etc

I remember when I first heard about this event. My initial thought was "oh look another way NYC and…read moreBoston can compete". Actually, I thought it was just another event New York City could dominate Boston at. But that's just the New Yorker in me. I kid, I kid. I've got nothing but love for Boston's food trucks. I was mostly interested in what trucks New York was going to come with as lets be honest the only food trucks I ever saw in NYC were the halal and hotdog trucks on the streets. And let's just say I was taught never to trust street meat. Good thing the website is good at listing the trucks and their websites so you can scope out the competition beforehand. Surprised to see almost all of them had websites. The first time this event was held in Dewey Square. Contained completely on the farmer's market island. My god it was a mess of lines and the wait for some of the trucks was horrendous. People had to plan strategically in their groups in order to hit as many of the trucks they wanted to try. Food truck competitions are serious business and apparently you call out a competition between NY and Boston you're going to pull a crowd to show some love for their hometown. It's understandable... even if the longest lines were from two NY trucks. The second time around the planners did a lot better location wise. They spread the trucks out along the less trafficked Greenway. Thank god they learned from last year. Also line control was handled a lot better. No funky zigzag across 4 different truck areas here. And there was also plenty of grass or curb to sit and eat. Now for the food. This competition has a habit of bringing an array of different cuisines. I had a plan to visit two trucks this time. Morrocan truck Comme Ci Comme Ca and Indian Chinese hybrid Momos & Buns. Most of the NY trucks had a limited 'Throwdown' menu. While I did pick up the kofka couscous from Comme Ci I would have really liked to try a few of their appetizers that I noticed on their website. The couscous was delicious and I think this was the first time I ever really tried Moroccan cuisine so I don't have anything to compare it to. But I'll definitely hunt down the truck when next I'm in NY. Momos I never got to. There was quite the line and I was not that patient. But while I was walking the area I stumbled upon the Cupcake Crew and tried their maple bacon cupcake. Wow, that was incredible. Although I think bacon makes most things taste better. In all it was a pleasant day with delicious food a relaxed atmosphere and I can't wait until next year's.

My favorite so far has been the gyro pocket with the lamb and beef filling. It's a generous amount of meat atop some lettuce and banana peppers that give it an acidic finish along with some diced tomatoes.
