First stop of the night and honestly wish we would've just left right away. The bartender with locs had a really bad attitude from the jump. No greeting, no eye contact, just came off annoyed that we were even there. When we tried to order, she was already snapping at us and then started cussing at our group. It wasn't just us either, she was talking like that to other people around the bar too. It made the whole vibe uncomfortable. We tried to play pool and didn't realize she was holding the white cue ball. We moved the table a little thinking it was fine and she immediately shut it down and said we couldn't play at all instead of just explaining it. Felt like an overreaction. Then I asked for a bucket of beer and she said aggressively she'd give me six beers but not a bucket... for no real reason. At that point it just felt like she didn't want to serve us at all. Not sure what she has going on, but that kind of service is not it. Definitely not a good look for the bar. I wouldn't come back and I'd rather spend my money somewhere else read more

Don't know how the bartender (locks) still has a job there. She is completely rude and seems like she hates her job. First time at the stockyards and will definitely not be checking out this bar again. She tried to kick out my group for absolutely no reason. 3/21/2026 Blonde female bartender was horrible. When I asked how much the beer was and the change was .50. I said keep the change and she grabbed my hand and put the money in it and said you keep it because it isn't enough to take care of my kids. We were planning on staying there for a while and tip at the end, but we didn't think how she treated me was okay. My wife told her it was not okay and she followed us outside to tell us she isn't affiliated with the bar, which my wife told her if you are behind the bar you are. The way we were treated was just horrible. This will be the last time anyone in our group steps foot in there again. We were all disgusted with the treatment. read more

Well well well Fort Worth look at you with this little hidden gem. I was blown away by everything. A small quaint town, where people smile, laugh, love and have a great time. I don't know why this place isn't packed compared to the other bars around. There are three great pool tables plus killer bar tenders. Karen was so nice and took care of us like no one else in Fort Worth. We had grabbed food at RailHead then headed down to the stockyards for some games. The vibe was great and the whole place is super clean. Nice bathrooms which is hard to come by at the stockyards. Nothing like the sticky buddy urinals at White Elephant. We will be back! read more

I only gave 4 stars because their pool tables and dart board were "closed" due to COVID!! I totally understand them taking safety precautions, but in my opinion, if people are ready to go to a bar, they are ready to have some fun and play the games/entertainment available. The bartenders were very nice and accommodating. The bar was clean and semi-busy. All drinks were pretty standard. Nothing extravagant or different. Please open your pool tables and dart board, it will double business and give your patrons more reasons to come out and play. Other guests were also complaining about the pool tables and dart board being unavailable. We would have stayed a lot longer if it was available. We would definitely return and highly suggest everyone to try this place. Especially if you are looking for a casual, no-nonsense bar. The music is good, but not too loud. I like the way someone else put it... like a Texas postcard: little smoke wafting about, a little pool playing in the back, jukebox cranked up and a bartender who knew everyone by name. This bar used to be my favorite bar in the Stockyards, and that kept me from reviewing it... I wanted to keep it all to myself. There's small up-and-coming and just-getting-started bands in here all the time. If the song doesn't sing about Texas, or doesn't have Texas in it... it might not be on the jukebox (except for a few of them Boys from Oklahoma). But I guess due to recently popularity... it's changing. The crowd is getting younger, and more tattoo'd... the bartenders are bringing in their buddies, and forgetting to wait on the rest of us ... What used to be one of the best pours, in one of the best bars is now a watered-down version of a long forgotten song! You will pay an additional 8% tax on that short-poured watered down drink now too! (oh yeah, I was a bartender and can count, too)--turn the bottle up, not sideways, and pour legal! When in Northside... there's lots of options... and this place is slowly turning away from it's competitive edge that has kept it a staple all these years! Weeknight this past Monday. It was obviously a Bandito MC meeting with affiliated clubs. Most of the bars ban "colors" to avoid any issues. The MCs usually keep to themselves, but really not good for any walk-in or tourist traffic. Bartender was cool, but drinks were a little spendy for a dive bar. read more

No big deal...great Happy Hour and cute saloon doors...but it is so gross in here and the people look like they gave up on life. The guys in here whistle and hit on every girl that walks in...which would be nice if they were decent. Just dirty old men, kind of like this place. My husband and I were out-of-towners on our first night in the historic stockyards looking for a bar to watch the Louisville vs Houston basketball game. We were told at the hotel that no sports bars existed in the Stockyards, but after speaking to the barmaid at the Love Shack sidewalk bar, she recommended the Stockyards Saloon. (You can buy drinks at sidewalk vendors and drink while walking, or while riding a horse, on the streets in the stockyards!!! what a great place. Watch where you step though.) The Stockyards Saloon's name fits it - it is a big bar - nothing fancy. But the barmaid here was sooooo nice and she spent quite a bit of time maneuvering through the satellite channel menu so that we could watch our ballgame on one of the biggest TV's I've ever seen. And the beer selection was good, cheap and super cold. They don't serve food here, but you can bring food from other restaurants or have a pizza delivered. She offered to get the pizza menu and number for Dominos if I wanted it. But, it being our first night in Texas, we wanted Texan food. I ran down to H3 Steakhouse and got their fresh-made guacamole and ribs appetizers to go while my husband waited at SS. I get back and there is someone taking a picture from the front sidewalk back towards the swinging front doors. I wait patiently, watching, when a horse's nose pops out of the doors! A guy had ridden the horse inside for photos. Luckily Trigger didn't take a dump while he was in there. The barmaid says it happens all the time. The week before there were 3 horses standing at the bar getting a photo. Only in Texas! They had a juke box in the place and I don't know if all the music came from it, but there were some great tunes being played when we were there. A few people took a spin on the dance floor the music was so good. There was a pool tournament going on with some pretty interesting characters participating in that too. Well, we had a great time in here. I can't promise this much excitement for everyone who visits, but you will probably get a really friendly bar person, some great tunes and a super cold beer. read more

Funny thing, this ebb and flow they see at the Stockyards, and I'm guessing this is surprising to absolutely no one, but then again, that never stopped me from telling a tale before. Sounds like Stockyard Saloon isn't particularly busy, except when they're not, and I happened (fortunately, actually) to pop in one night during baseball season when the Rangers were piling on some hapless opponent (let's call them, for the sake of the story, the Baltimore Orioles), and this joint played a little like a Texas postcard. A little smoke wafting about, a little pool playing in the back (bathed in florescent hues), jukebox numbers that clearly had been cranked up by someone still in the building. A bartender who knew everyone in the room by name. Cause that's what bartenders do. The beer choices are pretty middle of the road (although I do profess a soft spot for a Lone Star or Shiner every now and again), and the conversation was lively. I asked, and was told that they do karaoke Wednesdays and sounds like there's a regular room for that, and in the mean time, the gang that knows the room well ambles in for their regular thing - pool, sports on the big screen, chatter amongst friends. I'm reserving more love for the time when I get to know this place better, and sounds like they don't have much trouble squeezing folks in on weekends. I'll look forward to soaking that in. But I don't mind much about chilling in the time in between either. read more

what a great place for happy hour. stumbled upon this place as we were walking around the stockyards. this place offered happy hour on a saturday afternoon so ofcourse i was already impressed. the beers were priced at 3$ and bloody mary at 4$, pretty unbeatable. and the bloody mary was potent too! if you find yourself in this area, don't bother going anywhere else. Fantastic place!!! My friend and I were out of towners and stopped in for a drink. Jeannete was bartending and she was fantastic. She gave us the dish of where to go and where to eat. We came in the next 2 nights and she remembered our names and what we like to drink. The place was packed and had great energy. Everyone here was so friendly. highly recommended. read more
