Stocked Cafe was the perfect choice for our Saturday afternoon picnic. We ordered a roast turkey sandwich, a roast beef sandwich, a side of homemade pickles, and a side of truffle Parmesan tater tots. Although I was originally craving a turkey sandwich, the standouts of the meal were the roast beef sandwich, the tots, and the pickles. The roast beef sandwich comes with arugula, beets, and a horseradish aioli that kicks this sandwich into overdrive. I was particularly impressed by how well-seasoned this sandwich was, as well as the consistency of the bread. I hope my fellow pickle lovers will enjoy how dynamic these are. First of all I just wanted to note how I would've been the first review of the year but guy from two hours ago beat me to it. I'm the first five star though. He didn't give five stars because the cafe didn't open around his schedule....I thought we got rid of those people in 2018. It's a cafe, calm down. Also, regardless if it's table service or counter service - you TIP!!! omg. Lord, be with us. Anyways, came in here for the first time and staff is beyond effin dope. Tom and Stephanie need a promotion because they had to deal with people like the guy who wrote the review earlier. I was welcomed with all smiles and straight up dopeness. I will return to try the food . I would've ordered but didn't want to be the asshole who ordered the last ten minutes to closing - like the couple next to me. I will definitely eat next time! I very much enjoyed my my experience at Stocked Burger. I ordered the Bacon Me Crazy burger and it cooked to perfection. The side of tater tots was absolutely delicious - the garlic and parsley was a brilliant touch. I just had to get the vanilla milkshake as well, and it tasted like I was drinking delicious ice cream. I left the establishment very satisfied. The staff is very accommodating, welcoming, and efficient. The space is clean, has a beautiful design, and is set up very efficiently for maximum comfort. Stocked is superlative. It is staffed by the nicest of folks* serving the freshest of food. They put the utmost care into their food, and it shows because the sandwiches are excellent. The roast pork is the best of the bunch.* It is essentially a perfect sandwich. It is topped with the brightest of broccoli rabe, and the most flavorful of espelette, and the crispiest of provolone (not sure how that happens but it does). The grilled ciabatta seems to be the most excellent of all possible carby vehicles for the flavor combination, and I will brave the coldest of days and the most unreliable of trains for so balanced a bite. They are not the cheapest of sandwiches to be sure, but quality is worth paying for. _____________ *Although I've enjoyed the healthy and fresh turkey option, and while I appreciate the flavors of the Bacon Reuben (despite disagreeing with its classification as a reuben and my desire for more bacon), those options don't justify the high (for a small to mid-sized sandwich) price tag as easily as the pork. read more

Tony and I took a Zip car to Home Depot this weekend and got to explore areas of Brooklyn we don't get to very often. So, when it was time for lunch, we pulled out Yelp! and saw that Stocked had some good reviews. The rest of the story appears below... People on Yelp! have raved over the Stocked Capicola pork sandwich, which I ordered... and, sure, it was OKAY. However, it did not change my life. In fact, it was super oily and bland-ish. I wish I had thought to add deli mustard to the sandwich because it seriously needed some flavor help. Tony tried the fried chicken sandwich, which featured a fried patty made of ground chicken (like a crab cake but made with chicken instead of crab). He described it as tasty enough but complained of the small portion size. A few other disappointments to note: 1) Don't order diet coke is you're thirsty. It's one of those super small 8oz bottles. 2) The sandwich prices are expensive for the portion size 3) Although the restaurant is cute and modern looking inside, there is this giant kids' toy oven and kitchen set in the main dining area. What an eye sore! Oh, don't get me wrong because I love kids.... but this is the first time I've ever seen something like this in NYC. The best menu item we tried was the Tater Tots. However, these weren't that hot, which was, of course, another disappointment. Overall, I give his place 2 stars because I feel there are probably some good things about this place... and possibly I missed them. Great spot. I've enjoyed everything I've ever ordered from Stocked. Burgers, sandwiches and breakfast sandwiches (even better now served on a brioche bun) are all some of my faves in the neighborhood. Their truffle fries are the bomb. Very active place during lunch hours. Lots of strollers. The day I went they were out of a lot of their main signature dishes. So I had to settle for their specials. The soup of the day was polenta with sweet Italian sausage. I found it lacked flavor and was a bit watery. The grilled cheese sandwich I ordered had a very thick and crispy bacon, thought the mustard sauce was a little overpowering. At our table, the best meal seemed to be the crispy chicken. sandwich with sriracha sauce. In terms of service, the staff was very friendly but I feel there was a bit of disorganization the day we were there. Like I said, many specials/ staples from the menu were missing in action. The absolute best sandwich option, wish we'd discovered this place years ago! Top picks on the menu (if you're a meat-eater) are the turkey sandwich and the roast beef sandwich. Trust me. The bread is fresh, the fixings are high-quality and delicious. And there's always a nice little twist...a bacon tomato jam on the turkey, beets and horseradish on the roast beef. I just want to rave AGAIN about their truffle tots. I went my whole life (in my 50s) and never cared for tater tots. I took a chance here last summer and so glad I did. I AM ADDICTED! their truffle tots with Horseradish aioli? is the equivalent of culinary crack! I have also had their tuna muffuletta and their veggie sandwich, both are amazing. I did try their Turkey burger once and wasn't as wowed, I feel it needed a bit more flavor, although it was well put together. but overall, I am never disappointed. read more

It's a really solid burger. Unless you're the type of dude who "feels bad about writing a bad review" but "has to do it" because the burger you ordered and were 20 minutes late to pick up was missing bacon and for some reason you couldn't be normal and eat it anyway like the rest of us because the missing bacon somehow irked you enough that you decided it was worth sabotaging someone's genuine effort to start a small business in order to make a point no one cares about because you have nothing else going on in your life. This is a cute cafe on Vanderbilt. They've got fresh soups, salads, sandwiches, breakfast and some vegetarian options. They've got tea and lattes too. I really enjoyed the food I had here, location is convenient and it wasn't overly crowded. I was planning on writing a positive review for this place... I placed a pick up order and the customer service over the phone was a bit lacking. I hate to be this guy but I work in restaurants myself as a server and I know that at least pretending to be in a good mood is standard. The man on the phone was extremely flat and a bit grumpy. That's fine, though. I totally get it. I arrived super late to pick up my food! I felt bad and I said to myself "I should leave them a positive Yelp review bc they held onto my food for me" I was maybe 20 mins later than I should have been. Nothing crazy. The guy behind the counter gave me a bit of crap about being late... to pick up food that I'm paying for but I understand he wants the customer to enjoy "the product". Anyway, I tipped him, said thanks and headed home. The burger was so good! BUT it was missing the bacon I asked for. I called to let them know and the guy said "Ok... great" and hung up! And I know he probably doesn't care at all (clearly) but I also know that as a customer service person, you gotta fake it... and not insult the person whose order you screw up. Yikes! I think what the issue is this person may only have back of house experience and dealing with customers face to face isn't for him. Oh well, won't be back. I ordered a couple Impossible Burgers from these guys on DoorDash. Instead of receiving two vegan burgers, I received a beef burger. A buddy of mine who's vegan unfortunately broke his diet because these guys apparently don't have the best quality control. This is probably not an issue for the majority of people who order from this joint, but if the Impossible Burger on the menu here is your calling, please double check to make sure you receive what you ordered. However, this place is outrageously expensive for a sandwich shop in Brooklyn and the fact that sandwiches aren't accompanied by any sides whatsoever contributes to that. I enjoy the sandwiches and the baked treats from this cute cafe. Everyone is very friendly and the atmosphere is very warm and cozy. A favorite that I've tried most recently is the pumpkin muffin with chocolate chips. It was delightful and a pleasant after school treat. Such a cute little brunch/lunch spot! It's a bit tight on space inside but their sandwiches are delicious and have unique ingredients -- I ordered the capicola roast pork sandwich and it was delicious! The only problem I had with it was the amount of oil in it; I took it to go and on my five minute walk home, my double wrapped sandwich had leaked oil through the wrapping & the paper bag. I ordered a cold brew coffee to go too and it hit the spot too -- flavor was great and I got the caffeine boost I so sorely needed. My whole order (sandwich & coffee) came out to around $17. A bit pricey for me overall but the quality of the ingredients seems to justify it. I'll come back after my next paycheck! ;) read more

Excellent new addition to the neighborhood! The hubby and I stopped in Friday evening for burgers, fries and shakes to-go. I immediately loved the tribute to Bob's Burgers outside and knew I was in for a treat! The smallish space is essentially the same layout as the locale's former inhabitant, Taqueria De Los Muertos, and it works. For control purposes, I elected to order the "Stocked Burger" while my spouse indulged in the "Bacon Me Crazy". The former was both hearty and flavorful. Choice fixings contribute to juice, crunch and tastiness in each bite. I did my "this is yummy, I am happy" food dance when we got the grub home. My husband enjoyed the Bacon Me Crazy burger so much that it was devoured in record time. The Chocolate Milk Shake was also a delightful surprise, not too rich or dark, reminded me of a black and white shake actually! Reputedly great burgers are always a disappointment but this, bucking the rule, was among the best ever. Had it delivered tonight, along with tater tots. The tots were somewhat cold but a 400° oven revitalized them. (I suspect they may have sent the truffle tots, which cost more, but I wanted the regular.) And it was kind of late in the day for the blueberry muffin, but 50 seconds in a small, low-power microwave restored warm, soft moistness. (Only a touch of dryness remained at the bottom.) The burgers are absolutely delicious, they are juicy , spicy and there are plenty of cheese, toppings, and sauces to list , and they seem to have a strong focus on procuring quality ingredients, so I'd recommend getting whatever you think would go well on your ideal burger. My food came out extremely fresh and delicious. Knowing everything I was eating was made from high quality ingredients meant I could walk out feeling full and happy. After the old place that occupied this residence closed down before I could drop a review, I wanted to wait till I did the same for this place. Like when I wasn't sure if I was going to renew my old apartment in college, I just felt there was curse or a ghost. Oh wait, that was my ex-girlfriend living next door...... never mind. Stocked is a great American style delicatessen. Somewhat similar to the Lincoln Station, if you live in the neighborhood. The first thing I'd like to say is the staff is super friendly. Nice group of people. I hope this place stays open! They have lots of tasty sandwiches to choose from. My favorite is their Capicola style Roast Pork, broccoli rabe & provolone! Amazing! I've also tried some other tasty dishes of theirs. The meatballs and turkey meatloaf are both spot on. I however did not care for the macaroni & cheese muffins. It was just odd, it was baked but not the way I like my mac & cheese baked, then didn't have the payoff of a cheesy inside. The rating is just based on service. I'm sitting in Stocked waiting for our food. I'm excited to try it and excited this new spot is closer to us since we love the original stocked. My question is how is there only two people working in such a large place? They look super stressed and I feel bad for them. We have been waiting for a while but it's not really their fault it's whoever decided two people were enough to manage the cooking and orders. Oops food came and it's gonna still be 3 stars, great idea and great place but our burgers were over cooked and buns burnt sadly. Would prob be very good if not for that. I came here for lunch one afternoon. Stocked is an American style place with some tasty menu dishes especially with the sandwiches. I wanted to try them all since they all sounded delicious. When I first walked in, the staff was super friendly and very welcoming. I ordered the Capicola Style Roast Pork, melt provolone, d'espelette pepper, broccoli rabe sandwich. This was a delicious sandwich. The roast pork was moist, flavorful, juicy, and not fatty. Plenty of broccoli rabe. The bread was nicely toasted. Almost seem like a healthy sandwich. I also ordered a Mac & Cheese Muffin. Very unique way of eating Mac & Cheese. Wasn't a big fan of it though. It just didn't have enough cheese in it. I will give them creativity points for it. Neat little spot to grab some lunch. Simple menu. Try out their sandwiches. Friendly staff. Apparently they do sing alongs on Monday and Wednesday. read more

I came to Stocked looking for a good, above average sandwich for lunch the other day. Their menu is relatively small, offering a number of classics with a bougey twist, as well as a few vegetarian options including a cauliflower steak sandwich and an eggplant sandwich. I went for the house-made roast turkey w/ bacon aioli, tomato jam, and arugula, on a grilled baguette. Holy. Jeebus. It was AMAZING. I was not expecting, nor prepared to eat one of the best sandwiches of my LIFE. It was a perfect marriage of ingredients; all complimenting one another and none of them out-shining the others. Kind of like the cast of Friends! It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for. The roast turkey was $11 and I'm pretty sure the baguette it came on was at least 12-inches long. If you're small like me, you can save half of it for dinner :) I did some quick reading on Stocked before coming and it looks to be family owned. The service is friendly, casual, and quick. They had some children's toys in the back, so they must be catering to the family crowd. Oh and there's free wifi. In addition to sandwiches, they offer a few salads, a full coffee/espresso menu, and a number of breakfast items including homemade muffins, scones, and sandwiches that I must come back to try ASAP. read more

Went for a Friday lunch - not crowded at noon. Counter staff and cooks were friendly and answered questions; even wrapping my sandwich when I was finished. I ordered the Capicola roast pork with provolone and broccoli rabe. It came off the griddle so fresh, steam arose on each bite I took. Good portion of meat, everything tasted fresh and not too greasy. They have water glasses and water for free. Seating is a long bench with small tables and chairs for two along it with one bigger table in the back and outdoor seating in the back patio. Kitchen is open so if you sit near it, your clothes will smell like the kitchen for a little bit. Good casual lunch spot, a tad pricey for sandwiches. read more

Turned away with my service animal. Told I had to take my food to go and that they would "wave at me" to come inside when it was ready being prepared. In case you missed that--I was told to go wait outside with my service animal as they prepared my food on a 5 degree windchill winter day! I told them to forget it. This was the most disgusting experience I've ever had with a restaurant. At this point I calmly explained to them the rules of the NYC health dept regarding service dogs. They actually argued with me in front of the restaurant saying that this was not true. So here it is for your enlightenment. A formal complaint has already been filed. This is a serious offense and I'm shocked there are restaurants who still do not know how to operate in these situations. "Businesses open to the public, including restaurants, may not demand any proof of disability or certification of the animal to allow a person to access the business with their service animal.
