HIGHLIGHT OF OUR TRIP! We have a 2 and 6 y/o and they cannot stop talking about it. The captain…read morestarted by asking what our goals were for the outing. We wanted to 1) see dolphins, 2) snorkel, 3) spend time at a remote sandbar, 4) anything else he recommended. We were able to accomplish all 4, and then some! We had a pod of dolphins swimming around and under our boat, which was amazing. We found a very shallow sandbar and decided to snorkel there, with our kids being young. We saw fish and found a large conch shell that our 6 y/o still talks about days later. We saw the remnants of a lighthouse in the middle of nowhere. And then ended the day watching the sun go down. Just breathtaking. Cannot recommend it enough. There were also a variety of sodas, waters, and snacks available which came in handy with little ones. A nice touch that we were glad to take advantage of while in the middle of the ocean. In summary... yes, it costs more to charter a boat, but the intimate atmosphere with just your family and friends around make it absolutely priceless. I'd pay triple the price to make these memories with my family, and not have 25 strangers in the background of each picture. Splurge once and you will know EXACTLY what I'm talking about.

Originally was supposed to go earlier…read morebut they called me the day before and said the weather would be bad and asked if we could postpone it and I am glad we did because the weather was much sunnier and less windy the next day. James did a great job as our captain. It's nice you can bring your own beverages and they have some snacks on board. We drove around key west stopping at a few points, then rode out to an area to snorkel for a bit where we saw tons of sponges and some little fish, and then head back toward Key West, into the marina, and then back to where we started. Honestly, we didn't see any dolphin until we were on our way back in from snorkeling, and it honestly felt like it was just pure luck that we saw one but thank goodness we did since it was the highlight of the safari. The boat was pretty nice and comfortable. There were 6 total people including Captain James. The front is definitely the best place to see things from, so try to get a seat there if you can, even though it's not under the shaded cover part. It's like $112.36 per person after tax/fees plus there's a big sign on the boat guilt tripping you into tipping at least 20%. It's fine because James did a great job and deserved the 20% tip (although if we didn't bump into that dolphin on the way in, I would've felt a bit ripped off for the price), but basically expect to be out over $130 per person for a three hour boat ride. This can get pretty expensive, especially if you have a family, and I would've felt ripped off if we didn't see a dolphin but luckily we did so it was a cool experience that I definitely recommend when the weather is nice, winds are calm. Their website had higher prices in the description than the $99 that was actually charged so I hope they don't raise their prices because that would get kind of expensive. Especially when I was just in Miami and could rent a 13 person yacht for four hours $1300 so $100/person plus tax and tip is about the most I would be willing to pay for this experience, especially since seeing dolphins isn't guaranteed so you are basically just paying for a 3 hour boat ride.

This was one of our best family trips ever!!! We booked WildThing for a 3 night stay including 24…read morehours on the water, with a captain and first mate. When we arrived everything was perfect. We got a tour of the boat with directions on how to work the kitchen and bathrooms by our first mate, Sandy. We had a quick follow up conversation about food, since my son has allergies, and exchanged phone numbers so we could converse more while she shopped for us. I had previously sent an email about our preferences, but she texted me labels to be sure. Boat kitchens are a little tricky and sometimes scary for first timers but I had no problems at all working the stove and freezer. The AC was super cold, I actually had to turn it off for a bit, and we booked in July, so that's impressive! The beds and bedding were comfortable and we had enough extra towels for 5 more people! The location of the marina was amazing, right in the center of town with easy access to everything. The marina showers and bathrooms were right off the slip as was the parking. That's the accommodations. This is not a luxury boat, but it was a great 2 bedroom with kitchen, floating hotel room with all the amenities. We were very comfortable for our whole stay. Our Captain Vinnie brought us out to sea on our excursion which included 2 snorkeling stops at beautiful reefs on the first day, and a quick morning swim and snorkel the second day on our way back. The visibility was amazing and we saw turtles, dolphin, barracuda, parrot fish, 3 of the best reefs I've ever seen, a gorgeous sunset, a billion stars, and a private island. All our meals and snacks were provided and prepared by Sandy, and they all were restaurant quality. Fish dip, salsa, pork tenderloin, roasted potatoes, candied carrots, fruit, coffee, bagels.... All delivered to us where we sat. She also waited on us by readying our gear, hanging towels, provided fresh water to rinse with, I just felt so taken care of! Captain Vinnie entertained us with sailing story's and driving lessons for my son, and he even jumped in and showed us the reef and provided a waterproof camera for our underwater shots! Both our crew members were kind, patient, and even playful with my ten year old son. 26 hours with someone else's kid can get to be a little much for anyone, but if they were ever frustrated or annoyed they never let on in the slightest! My son literally climbed on every surface, like a monkey, in and out of hatches, up down and sideways, with the captain chuckling and encouraging his exploration:) Only every now and then did the captain remind him "one hand for the boat." We had extremely calm seas and winds, which worked well for any potential sea sickness, and snorkeling, but not so great for using the sails. We ran the engine for most our trip, which worked well with no incident and didn't give off the diesel smell that normal power boats do. Once out at sea the AC doesn't work, but even in July the breeze supplied all the cool we needed. The WildThing has enough well appointed hatches to catch the wind and keep the cabin mild enough for sleeping. The canopy on top provides enough shade for everyone to stay out of the sun if they want to. I can't keep going on and on about the amazing experience but I'm missing the beautiful scenery on our way north! Thanks Albert and Rhonda for providing us with such a beautiful boat and such a great crew! It was truly a beautiful family memory my son will never forget!
