We tried it and liked it but wanted to try other mattresses. She continued to hover over us trying the upsell every single model. My husband and I couldn't get over how pushy she was. We agreed on a mattress and were going over paperwork, when Sandy "accidentally" added on a $500 box spring to our purchase that we never agreed to. We asked her about this and she insisted that we asked for it. Finally she agreed to redo the paperwork and take the box spring off the order. She told us that the mattress should be delivered in no more than 4 weeks. Fast forward NINE weeks and the mattress still isn't here. My husband has called multiple times for an update and they just keep telling us they don't have an estimated delivery time. My husband called finally this week to cancel the order and Sandy HUNG UP ON HIM. Furious, I called and demanded the order be cancelled and Sandy was so rude and passive aggressive. She even had the audacity to tell me my husband was lying about their conversation. Hilarious. Order canceled. Mattress Firm will never get our business.

Extremely displeased with the Memory Foam Beautyrest mattress this particular Mattress Direct sold…read moreus less than a year ago. We were told memory foam is the best for my chronic Rheumatoid Arthritis. When we expressed concerns about memory foam creating too much heat, and making us too hot in the middle of the night, we were reassured that this particular mattress had a gel cooling agent that would prevent any of that. Fast forward nearly a year later, my arthritis hurts worst than ever when I wake up in the morning, and my partner has started developing back issues he never had before. We're both less than 40 years old, mind you. During warmer months, we sweat and get miserably hot in the middle of the night. My $500 Macy's mattress gave me more support than this. And yet, we cannot return this mattress with our "warranty" because it's not defective, per se. It looks as it did when we bought it. Now, we'll most likely be spending another $2,000 to purchase a regular innerspring mattress from a different location. (That's kind of the trick with Memory Foam, I guess. It gives no support, yet goes back to its original "look" as soon as you get up - nullifying any kind of warranty return.) I'd recommend NOT buying a Memory Foam mattress (of any sort) or shopping at Mattress Direct.

I was greeted by Gina, one of the owners of the store. I gave her a rundown of what happened and how we needed to buy several mattresses. You would think she would latch on to the "Need to buy several mattresses" part, but she didn't. She talked with me about the fire and was really kind and caring about what we were going through. After talking for a bit she showed me a few of the mattresses that would work for us, showed me their sales, and I told her I'd come back later with my hubs. That evening my hubs and I came back to look things over and quickly picked out mattresses for the kids. Gina showed us a Posh + Lavish mattress that was on sale (40% off, be still my little heart, I LOVE a good sale!) and it was like sleeping on a cloud that still supported you in every spot you needed. We had never even heard of the Posh + Lavish brand but we were sold very quickly, lol (and it truly is an amazing mattress!!). As we were shopping for mattresses Gina offered to throw in sheets for each bed (including Bamboo sheets for us, to which I am now thoroughly spoiled and will never again use a different type of sheet) as well as a weighted blanket each for my hubs and I (honestly I really think she just wanted us to be able to rest peacefully with all we had been going through, she just has that way about her). They have been incredibly kind, helpful, and understanding the whole time. Even the delivery guys had nothing but good things to say about their bosses! When the delivery men showed they refused to take away the platform bed frame and claimed they didn't do that. I called the store only to be met with "we dont do that" and that he should've explained that to us and apologized. But that was doing me any good with a huge platform in my house. So I was left with a huge broken bed frame left in my hallway with no way to get it out of my house. First, that should've been explained so we could prepare to have it taken out, second, you dont spend that much money and not have a full service experience. The sales rep should have come up with a solution out of his own pocket and immediately rectified the situation since his commission on that amount is significant. Not only will we never reccomend Mattress Firm, as a active member of the community I will and have already proactively gone out of my way telling people to spend dollars elsewhere. What a stressful and terrible experience it was to do business with them.

Shopping was fine and we were happy with what we chose. Unfortunately receiving what we purchased has been a bit of an issue. When you schedule delivery, you pick a day and the mattress will come between 8am and 7pm. You can't choose morning or afternoon, so you have to guarantee that someone has the ability to be home and available the entire day you choose. After 4pm the day before the delivery you get an automated call assigning you a 2-hour delivery window. We asked the store if we could request a more specific time on our delivery day, but apparently, it's impossible for the warehouse to arrange a route that takes people's schedules into consideration. Instead, we were advised to schedule during a work day and see what happens. Of course, we got the automated call telling us that our assigned delivery spot would be during the *only* time when nobody would be available. We couldn't even push the delivery window back an hour. Because of this delivery policy, we had to postpone delivery a week to guarantee that someone could be home during the full 11 hours. I'm disappointed that, even though we're spending a good chunk of money with Mattress Firm, the store and warehouse can't work with our schedule. Additionally, we paid extra for a mattress protector and asked for it to be delivered to the store. The store said they'd contact us when it came in, but they didn't. Instead, we had to call and ask about it. Again, I'm happy with the purchase, but post-purchase service could have been a lot better.

I did not make an appointment and I would suggest that you do. You have to give them your life story, blood type, and next of kin to make an appointment which is a bummer (exaggeration but they ask for a lot of info), but at least they don't require a credit card number like another local prom shop. First visit (without appointment), we were grumped at by the checkin staff, then assigned to a very grumpy, irritated, overworked sales person who did NOT want to help us. She was very unpleasant, and unfortunately they are required to stay by your side for the entirety of the appointment. She offered no assistance and just stood next to us glowering and chatting with other sales people about not wanting to be there. I am not naming names because everyone has a bad day, but we didn't enjoy the experience at all mostly due to working with her. The store has a pretty decent selection, but we went in March for a May event and they were already lowish on inventory. I was told that they don't have "stock" and what's on the floor is what they have, so I highly recommend finding out when they place orders and going in that month. Pressure to "buy today" is high but understandable given that the item you like really might be gone when you go back next. Prices were on the mid to high range. The cheapest dress I saw was $250 and I saw prices going into the 700/800/900 range. Definitely higher than departments stores, but better selection, fit, & quality. We didn't buy a dress on our first visit, partly because of the unpleasant sales lady. We went back after shopping several other places and did ultimately buy a dress here. I was disappointed that the commission for our purchase went to the person who helped us the first time because our second visit (with appointment) was much more pleasant, although since we were there specifically to buy, we didn't really get a sales person assigned on the second visit. The manager that helped us was lovely and the sales desk people were nice. I don't know if there are more inexpensive options earlier in the "season" so part of my reason for 3 stars is price and part of the reason is from that very unpleasant sales experience. For quality of dresses, I would put them at a 4.5 stars.

My wife and I bought a latex foam mattress, with a topper and foundation, from STL Beds five months ago. We love the restful sleep that it gives us. I believe the design concept of the bed, which allows you to choose the layers of foam density and their order in the mattress, that are enclosed in a heavy quilted casing, is genius. The order of the layers can be rearranged any time, and if the topper or any of the layers get worn out, just that portion can be replaced. A few years ago we had gone mattress shopping and looked at many places. We ended back at STL Beds and eventually we both agreed on a particular mattress, which they still carry, even though I really wanted the latex foam mattress at that time. However, we determined we could not afford the mattress that we had agreed on, and so we settled for a show room mattress from another store. This time we received a check from our "Uncle Sam" / your "Uncle Sam" and could now afford a new mattress. Based on our previously described mattress shopping experience, we had no need to go anywhere besides STL Beds. Now we were back at "square one" trying to agree on the same mattress. My top choices were the latex foam and next was the waterbed. My wife had previous conceived ideas about both of them and didn't want to even try either of them. Doug and Mike were very helpful educating us on all their mattresses that we looked at. They really know mattresses and especially their own. It appeared to me that they have lines of mattresses that they have carried for a long time because they are good mattresses that have stood the test of time with customer satisfaction. They were very friendly and patient with us, each time we were back. We never felt any pressure. They gave us our space to test and discuss with each other, but were always available to answer our questions. It took us four or five trips to the store trying out different mattresses and asking more questions that came up as we were trying to come to a consensus. During those trips, My wife laid on a waterbed, not knowing what it was. She was stunned to find out that all of her preconceived notions were wrong and it was a pretty amazing bed. We finally got it narrowed down to two beds and she told me she was tired of choosing and didn't even want to go back, so I could choose between the two. I finally convinced her to go back with me. While I was moving back and forth testing the two beds, my wife wondered around the store and ended up sitting on a latex foam mattress, but didn't know it. She just happened to mention a preconceived idea about latex foam mattresses, and Mike said, "you are sitting on one". Then she laid on it, and like the waterbed, she was pleasantly surprised. Within minutes, we were in the process of choosing our latex foam mattress layers, and five months after our first night in this bed, we are still pleased with it. read more

STL Beds was a great help with an unusual bed situation where I purchased a queen bed head board and foot board that didn't come with the side rails. After searching various local bed/ mattress companies and then online, I found STL Beds. I called to speak with a representative before purchasing and got an awesome, friendly and very helpful gentleman by the name of Joe. We discussed in detail my frame measurements and rail attachment type (bolt as apposed to hook) to make sure it would work and then recommended I place the order online to expedite delivery. He made sure the order went through and then sent the tracking info. I got the frame sooner than promised and I was thrilled as I was expecting house quests soon. As I assembled the frame, which required no tools, it became apparent that I was facing a problem. The frame was the right height and made to bolt to both a head and foot board but the bolt brackets didn't match up. Called Joe back and he sent me a actual size photo of an adaption bracket. I printed it, cut it out and then held it up to the frame. I then confirmed with Joe it would work. Unfortunately, since it would take week to get the brackets, I did not place the order. However, since I had the bracket photo copy I was able to take it to my local hardware store and found a mending bracket that worked. I was very happy with the results and I contribute it all to Joe for his exceptional customer service. I'm already referring STL Beds to friends who have similar bed issues. After doing our research on beds and what we were searching for, then came the research on companies to provide this service. We chose STL Beds do to their customer service and prices. We decided to contact STL Beds. Our first contact was Joe (and continued to be Joe) and we quizzed him like we were studding for a final exam. We asked it all and he was patient, attentive and most of all knowledgeable. Ordered our bed and arrived earlier than advised. Joe was on top of our order and kept us in the loop. STL Beds had many videos online to get assistance on set up. It was easy . We were concerned about the weight of the bed (total 223 pounds) on pallet. This broke down to manageable pieces and was easy to move in ourselves (both 65 years old). Had a slight issue with the zipper and Joe came to the rescue. He did not have the answer for this question and got back to us in just a few minutes. Self repairing zipper. Love the construction of this bed. All thru this process Joe was on the job!! He gave us little hints and tricks to set up. Joe is a real asset to STL Beds. We now know why STL Beds has such a great reputation. The bed is just what we wanted and are very happy with this whole process. We are both retired Customer Service managers and know what it takes to be THAT company that has it all. My experience with STL Beds was spectacular! This is a family owned business and it shows. Although I had to try a couple of times to have a phone conversation (because the phone-guy is also the floor-sales guy and the manager-guy), when I did speak to Doug, boy was he helpful...I was not SOLD something, I was EDUCATED and assisted in making a good decision. Normally I would be wary of buying something as subjective as a mattress over the phone, but Doug seemed to understand his product so well, I felt comfortable explaining what I wanted in terms of firmness/softness and going with his recommendation. As it turned out the mattress I wanted was not in stock at the time, so I even got an upgrade to a similar but higher ranked mattress at no extra charge. Delivery was on time, as expected, by Dave, the founder himself, who helped me carry it up 3 floors to my apartment with a smile and good conversation. And the mattress? Primo! Love it! Most comfortable mattress I have ever owned. I looked at Sam's Club, Sleep Number, and a few other chains, but the value equation was not very good at any of those places...there was a choice only between Cheap Crap and absurd luxury. At STL Beds I really got good quality for a comparatively very low price. Sorry if this sounds like a shameless pitch for these guys, I just feel that a local, family owned business like this that clearly takes pride in their operation deserves the highest praise. read more

i purchased my first hard-sided waterbed back in 1993 and was very happy with it. i used it until 2007 when i made a very bad decision to go back to a conventional mattress. i suffer with extreme osteoarthritis and was miserable until it was just so unbearable to sleep on that mattress as my pain had increasingly worsened. i remembered how my waterbed relieved most of my pain so i could sleep and decided to put it back together again. i searched the web as i knew that there was not a mattress store that carried waterbeds in maine where i lived and stumbled upon stl beds' website. i checked it out and found that, not only their prices for the items i needed were the lowest from everything i looked at, but were very pleasant and knew what they were selling inside and out. i had saved the frame to my waterbed and needed the "guts" for it but was unsure about the mattresses. i wanted a motionless one like i had before. my first contact was with doug. i explained what i wanted and he made it happen. i was elated with joy. he and his dad, dave stayed in contact with me the way to the end and answered all my questions and concerns. i can't thank them enough for all they did. im sleeping like a baby and in less pain. thank you from the bottom of my heart. read more

This review is a little overdue but so deserved. STL Beds took such good care of us on our purchase last October. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and very understanding. They made a point to help us find exactly what we need and were very tactful about how some of the beds would work best for my husband and I because we are, in fact, not small people. Although I am completely comfortable with who I am, I was nonetheless grateful for the politeness shown when it came to a relevant discussion of our weight, and the performance of certain beds over the course of several years. I was so impressed by the assistance in the store as well as their delivery team. We could not have asked for better help or a better bed. We purchased the Summer Nights Queen 12" (Summer Nights Queen Bravura Latex Foam 12" Mattress) and the W Silver GS715G Gold Series Queen. We loved this bed from the first day it was delivered. I have to say that we still love it to no end a year later. The store has been able to answer any questions we have had about the base. I purchased replacement hook-in metal side rails for twin head and foot boards. My needs were specific: non-standard bed width and a trundle that prevented a frame with legs. I found STL after a failed purchase from another vendor. STL was amazing! After I placed the order DOUG called me prior to shipping to make sure what I ordered would meet my needs so I wouldn't face unexpected return shipping. After confirming what I ordered would not work straight out of the box and that none of their other products would meet my needs, Doug explained exactly what I would need to do to "rig" the parts to work for me if I decided to proceed with the purchase. He was patient and waited for me to take additional measurements etc while he waited on the phone. I thought about it and phoned a couple days later to confirm the purchase. I spoke to a different rep, but he knew who I was and why I was calling - no need to repeat the whole story. Rails arrived promptly after I confirmed, were cheaper and better quality than the ones I initially ordered from the other vendor and were super easy to assemble - even with the adjustments I was forewarned about. I needed some XL bed rails and couldn't find what I liked locally, so looked online and discovered STL Beds! Their website has a wealth of valuable information! I placed an order for the NO. 82 Twin Extra Long Hook Rails on March 7, 2022, late at night. The next morning I had a voicemail message from Doug at STL Beds. When I didn't respond to the call, I received an email from Dave. These guys wanted to verify the measurements and hook style I needed before sending me the rails. Talk about great customer service and caring about the customer! Four days later I received the rails via FedEx - all the way from Arnold, MO to Olympia, WA, in four days! Now get this, the price you see on the STL Beds website for the rails is the price you pay, plus FREE shipping! And I highly recommend the NO. 82 rails because, if your foundation is wide enough, you don't need to use slats! I emailed some questions to STL, and even though it was after business hours, Doug called me. He answered my questions and gave me the reassurance I needed. STL Beds is amazing! I have NEVER encountered such excellent customer service in my life. Searching on Google for a way to lower my bed without purchasing a whole new mattress, I found a frame called the Low Profile that STL sells. I was concerned that my headboard, which is mounted fairly high up now, wouldn't fit on the new frame. I called and spoke to Zack, who went above and beyond to help me. Because that particular frame was not on the floor, he OPENED a new one, took it out of the box, and measured the mounting holes for me! He took my phone number because he didn't want to keep me holding, and then he called me back with the information...all close to closing time! What an absolute delight---patient, smart, and kind. I'm off now to purchase the frame and plan to return to purchase more for my apartment....didn't realize how many items, in addition to mattresses, that they carry. I bought a bedframe for an antique headboard and footboard. DRCV1L. I have had ALL kinds of trouble with it (not their fault). The shippers ripped the box open and STL sent replacement hardware RIGHT away. I didn't buy enough crossbars because I have a split box spring so it was falling through in the middle. Another order sent like lightening. Now the hook won't stay put in the headboard slot and it's wobbling. "No problem! Here comes more hardware as a stop gap!". They got on FaceTime with me to see and advise, answered the phone while the store was closed, popped back emails within minutes, remembered my name, and treated me kindly and with a sense of humor EVERY time. This is the way service should be, but you NEVER find anymore. One bed frame doesn't make them much money, I'm sure, but they treated me like I ordered a thousand mattresses. The bed frame product is awesome! My 17 y/o son has a bed that works for his room but had wooden slates supporting the mattress that were held up by 2 flimsy wooden pegs. From the start, we stacked books under the support bars for additional reinforcement but if the bed moved even a little, the books fall and over time, most of the wooden slats broke. I took to Google and searched out solutions and happened upon STL Beds. Metal support slats and feet! What a great idea! I wish I would have found them sooner. Thank you! It's working out great and it was easy to install (the video that they emailed me was very helpful). We purchased the GS3-XS for a queen bed (3 cross support bars and 3 adjustable legs). We didn't get the deluxe model - I'm considering for my King bed though. It got here within a week of ordering (I'm in San Diego). Owner extremely helpful on the phone before I placed my order. I needed to order an adjustable frame to convert a twin into a queen headboard and footboard. I contacted STL Beds and found they had exactly what I needed and at a great price. Doug contacted me within a day to ensure that I was ordering exactly what I needed the first time through. He asked me to take some additional measurements while also advising of how big, or little, we could go with the rails in question. I provided him with the information he requested and he let me know that these rails should do the trick. Because of supply disruptions, he did warn me that it could be up to two to four weeks before I would receive the rails. They had had some on order but weren't sure when exactly they would arrive. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a shipping notification only a few days later. The frame arrived in short order and we got the bed set up with its new rails lickety-split. I purchased a frame support for my full size bed. I was searching online for a mattress topper replacement (which I did find) with added support, when I came across STL Beds.After reading the info on this support and what it does for your bed, I decided to get it. It arrived real fast and after securing it to the frame I noticed a BIG difference. My bed is a little over 1 year with a very good box/mattress set, but I wanted to add extra support since I will be having this for some time and want to get as much as I can out from my investment. I ordered a twin foldup bed for out-of-state family and it was the best thing I did. The box arrived the night before I actually needed it--that was a close call on my part, and the box was in good condition-undamaged. I set it up in a few minutes (only four screw on nuts-I had pliers on hand in case one of the screws needed more strength to tighten up--and one did). Unbelievable! I wish I had known about the temporary frame setup a long time ago. Very sturdy, strong, yet not too heavy twin bed frame for being so inexpensive. After family left, I returned it to the box I kept (don't throw the box away) and it's stored in the garage. Needed a new frame to replace my wooden slats that started creaking/cracking. Found STL Beds online. Originally was thinking about getting a regular metal frame. But then I saw there steel slat model GS-3 XS Center Support. It looked very sturdy and with a center support just what I needed. It took about a week for it to arrive (I live in Los Angeles). I had noticed that my mattress would kinda sink in the middle . The mattress is only 10mths old!! Apparently that was becuz the support from the wooden slats had run its course after 6yrs.With the GS-3XS steel slats they give a lot of support. My mattress now is back up to where it is suppose to be. And so comfy. I just wished I had looked around 6 months ago. This is really a good deal , don't hesitate. read more

Awesome Company and you can't have better customer service. I purchased a bed frame from STL Beds after receiving a partial shipment from Macy's Furniture. Macys did provide a refund, but the customer service was terrible and we were left with an incomplete order and since it was sold out they said sorry. I found STL beds after doing a lot of online searching. After placing the order, the owner actually called and emailed to discuss our order. Doug thoroughly discussed what we had, dimensions, parts, instructions etc. I even sent pictures. Now, we will finally be able to put our bed together. Excellent product and outstanding customer service! I bought a bed frame support with three legs to replace the slats on our bed which were sagging. Not being very handy, I had some minor issue in the assembly. I called STL and Doug, the co-owner, walked me through the assembly process, sending me pictures so I got it right. Several hours later, in the evening , Doug called to make sure everything was ok. I then told him I had a problem with the foundation which was wobbling when I put it on the frame and support. I later found out the slats in the foundation were warped and it was not a problem with their product. I bought a new mattress and foundation and couldn't be happier. We ordered online - we were looking for a support foundation for our bed frame as we have somehow survived 15 years without it, but suspect that A) we could have been a lot more comfortable for years, and B) this was an unsafe set up. The support foundation is for a queen sized bed and has metal bars that cross from side to side and get screwed into the side rails. It also has top to bottom metal support connectors with center feet. This thing is solid! It was easy for my husband to install, and we decided that same night to buy one for our guest bedroom which has the same situation. Super fast shipping, and so easy - even sending it all the way to NJ! I wish every company was so reliable and easy to work with! read more

STL replaced the frame for our 50+ year old bed. They have excellent instructions online for ordering replacement frames and installation. Due to age, even though we had an exact match, our bed squeaked after installing the new frame. Didn't expect the great phone support we received. Their representative helped troubleshoot the problem by listening to the squeak over the phone, and viewing photos we sent. Shims were provided at no extra charge, along with more support so we could install them correctly. We are fully satisfied, and very impressed with the quality of the frame and the customer support provided by this company after purchase. What more could you ask for? read more

I recently purchased a secondhand bed frame and was unhappy with the height, and contacted STL Beds for some advice on lowering my mattress.
