This bike service is hands down the best around. Top notch service . Jake will fix all kinds of bikes.

Jake is an experienced and terrific mechanic. He responds quickly and is able to diagnose and repair any issues. I can't say enough positive things about him and his service. So nice to not have to be without my bike while waiting for shop to service it. I only wish I had used him earlier in my cycling "career!" read more

Needed my Specialized Levo derailleur replaced. Jake quickly responded when I reached out. He had the replacement parts within a day and was able to replace it the next day. A service worth every penny and I didn't have to leave my home. Thank you Jake! read more

Jake is responsive and very knowledgeable. His mobile service makes getting your bike fixed up so simple and his prices are reasonable. I had three bikes fully repaired in about 2 hours in my driveway for a very reasonable price. No need to trek to the bike store ever again for repairs! read more

I had Stix and Stones put together two E-Bikes for me and they went above and beyond doing a full maintenance on the bikes. It is great to have them come to your house with the full shop in their truck. He gave me advice on upgrades and said if I needed any help just give them a call. Great customer service to Complement their knowledge. They are my go to bike Mechanics. read more

Jake came by to help me with my Radwagon and Cannondale Mountain Bike. He was very knowledgeable, and explained everything. I think he's been doing this for more than 20 years, so he knows his stuff. He's a super cool and friendly dude too. He did an amazing job, and it was such a relief to find someone who could come over to work on my bikes (especially the Radwagon, which I would have never been able to transport in my car). I highly recommend Stix and Stones for all of your bicycle needs! read more

Jake worked on two of my bikes- assembled a cruiser and got my old mountain bike back on the road. It was important to me to trust that my bikes were safe to ride. He painstakingly went through each bike to ensure this. And having him come to my home made it so convenient. Very thankful, highly recommend. read more

This come to work or home bike service is awesome for bike commuters and cyclists. a like. I found myself with a flat tire and without my tire kit with me at my office in Walnut Creek. It would have been a very long walk home to San Francisco without finding someone to fix my tire at my office because I had a very busy day. Called up Jake made an appointment to meet later in the day, tire change took about 10 minutes. It was easy and quick. Trustworthy, punctual and great service! read more

I highly recommend Jake. He's extremely knowledgeable, shows up on time and does great work at a fair price. I encourage you to call him before taking your bike into the shop. read more

Stix and Stones is an absolutely amazing at home bike service/shop that comes to your door. Jake (the owner) has now saved me from deadlines twice coming out to my house and working on my odd bicycle related jobs. All the service I have had was completed next day if not while I waited. Jake is also a great guy who really know bikes and will give you an honest opinion that doesn't always make him the money. His rim build are also exceptionally strong and works with quality tools. I know I will not mess with any other bike shops in the area as long as Stix and Stone remains in business. read more

My rear tire blew out last night during a ride. I yelped bike repair and found 2 possibilities near my work- mikes bikes, which opened at 10am, or stix & stones, open at 8am. I started work at 8am, so I couldn't drop my bike at either place. But hey, the beauty of stix & stones is that owner Jake is MOBILE; he'll come to me! No brainer baby! Jake came to my work early, repaired my tire at the start of my lunch hour. He was done within 10 minutes, leaving me plenty of time to get a Slice House slice, drop off the rent & get back to work with time to spare! Thanks Jake, great work!! read more

Stix and Stones - Jake getting it done - Bike Repair/Maintenance Near Me

Stix & Stones completed a remote hub conversion. It was a DT Swiss 240 front 5mm QR to QR15 thru axle conversion that involved ceramic bearings. Jake has done numerous conversions and has the specialized tools to complete such a task. A task that even my local bike shop, Encina Bicycles, cannot do on that pro level. The home visit convenience was well worth the service call, allowing me to skip out on riding the parts down to the LBS. Thanks S&S! read more

Jake is an absolute professional. He's as knowledgeable as a bike mechanic can be, honest, and very efficient! Knowing the care that he put into my bike gives me so much peace of mind on the road. read more

Used his service once and was pretty happy. Tried calling again, but this time all my calls went unanswered. Finally calls back a week later to say he was at some bike event. So i tried returning his call. Only this time he just doesn't call back at all. Never realized those events take all week nor have i ever seen business owners just turn business away. Could've at least been more professional and said that it wasn't worth your time or given some kind of response at all. read more

First, when reviewing anything bike related I believe it is important to define what type of rider you are; as such, i am a CAT 1 MTB rider. I have competed in and around the Northern CA circuit for five years. I am the proud owner of a Jet 9, Orbea Opal and a Trek Fuel EX built up (by Jake) with full XTR. That said, on with the review. Jake Otsuka is, hands down, the BEST mountain bike wrench in the area. He has built my bikes, tuned my race rigs and kept me in the dirt for 5 years. Whether it is a quick derailleur tune, wheel true or balls out suspension overhaul Jake is the go to guy for me. This spring he rebuilt my fork, in my garage less than 24 hours before a race. When he found out i was racing the next day he ran through the bike, tuned me up (at no extra charge) and, due to his skills got me a third place. Jake is not limited to the mountain. He is currently building me a set of road wheels for winter training (Mavic Open Pros w/ Ultegra 28 hole hubs laced up 2 cross). On top of that, he is the only wrench allowed to touch my carbon. It was off his recommendation i bought an Orbea. I have not looked back since. His knowledge and informed opinion on MTB and road bikes is worth the cost of a visit. His prices are on point with all the other local shops. His service, professionalism and attitude are second to none. Jake's willingness to give advice and his no BS approach to bikes and "i know because i have probably broken it" approach to equipment is much appreciated. I plan to ask him to wrench for me @ the Boggs 24 race in 2011. In summation, Stix and Stones is worth every penny. In fact, more often than not, it is worth more. read more

Jake knows his stuff. I called and within 20 minutes he was at our house. He's very knowledgeable and great prices. Definitely recommend.

I was introduced to Jake Otsuka who owns "Stix and Stones" Mobile Bike service about six months ago. I had him give me some advice and then upgrade my drive train. EXCELLENT knowledge, advice and options so I could make the best decision. Jake has expert mechanical skills, fine tunes like no mechanic I have used in the past, does exceptional wheel builds (yep I upgraded those too) and personal experience as he is an avid rider and Enduro racer. Best of all, he comes to YOU! He has done timely repairs and upgrades in my office parking lot, home driveway and even at a grocery store parking lot when we discovered some pre-ride issues and he happened to be in the neighborhood!! Are you kidding me? Oh, and he does ski and snowboard repair too! read more

They did a fabulous job turning a hand me down bike into a like new bike for my daughter! Service was great and the price is good!

Best bike fitting ever! Who knew a proper fit could make such an incredible difference? I called Jake at Stix and Stones because I was having some back pain when riding my new bike. I've been fitted on bikes before, but Jake's fitting was much more thorough than anything I'd experienced in the past. Jake was very patient and took his time examining every angle and took into account the type of riding I like to do as he made his adjustments. He even gave me a pointer for getting more power out of each pedal stroke, which was extremely helpful. I have NO PAIN now when I ride, and I'm enjoying my rides so much more. Thank you, Jake! read more

I'm a bit of bicycle junkie. I own five total including my wife's and my daughter's. Jake has worked on four of the five. He is honest, he didn't try to sell me anything on one of the bike's, just told me it was in good shape, didn't need anything. I would gladly pay a premium for the convenience of having my bikes worked on at my home or work location (I commute everyday by bicycle) but Jake's rates are competitive if not cheaper than most shops, and his work is impeccable. What a great business concept. Lower overhead, (his Toyota pickup is his shop) means he can offer great service and competitive prices. I feel like I have my own personal bike mechanic. Oh and he waxed and tuned two snowboards for me and delivered them back to me the next day. Live long and prosper, stix and stones and Jake Otsuka. read more

Fantastic job. This saved me several days.... I did not have to take into a shop and go back a few days later to pick up. The most important thing is Jake's knowledge. Hard to believe anyone at a shop knows more than him. read more

Jake arrived right on time, was so friendly and open to lots of questions. I'm not a bike person like most people using his service, but I didnt feel like I was being talked down to. He didn't mind my 6 year old lingering and asking a million questions either. My son's handbrake needed to be reattached and we also needed to know if a junky hand-me-down was worth fixing up. Prices and suggestions were very fair. Will definitely use Stix and Stones for all future bike repair and assembling! read more
